Hotel's Favorite
The place is essentially brand new and they are still working on a couple of extra buildings. While there is construction going on towards one end of the property it did not interfere or bother us at all. I think they are being very conscious about noise, and when to start and end their work day. We heard some noise here and there but hardly anything that affected our stay negatively. On the contrary, we got a great deal on pricing, and everything was totally worth it. The pools are gorgeous, the units are so pretty, modern and new. We used the washer and dryer one time on our own (even though we could have requested laundry services). All the staff were warm, welcoming and helpful, from our shuttle driver, to lobby attendants, to bartenders at the swim up bar, and staff we saw working around the premises every day. They were specially sweet with our 2 year old.
Note: this hotel is on the bay side, not the ocean side. But the ocean is across the street and for the most part you cannot swim in it, so in reality, it didn’t really matter to us that we weren’t ocean front. Our unit walked out right out to the pool and the beautiful view of the bay, we were very happy with it!
The restaurants are across the street at the sister hotel Grand Caribe. The food is ok, but if you come to Belize and you’re a bit of a foodie like I am, you’ll find that most restaurants are very “Americanized” so that’s kind of how it is. We only ate at Rain, one of the property restaurants once. The view was pretty and the server was friendly. There’s also a convenient store across the street for some essentials.
Overall we loved staying at Subset Caribe. It’s in close proximity to everything and once you rent a golf cart which everybody does, you can be pretty much everywhere within minutes. This includes Secret Beach which is about 25 minutes away and totally worth the trip. It’s like going on a little adventure! Sunset Caribe was an awesome choice for our little family!

We landed right next to the Sunset Caribe at the Helipad and spent the most amazing week enjoying the resort, pools and the ocean.
We specially loved using the complementary kayaks to go to the barrier reef (only 15min paddle!) and snorkeling. Our kids also spent a lot of time playing with all the inflatable pool toys provided.
We loved that our unit (2-113) was on the ground floor and had outside seating area and immediate access to the pool, hot tubs and the best sunsets!
This unit has an upstairs room and a pull out couch where our kids slept really well.
We don’t usually do laundry while on vacation, but it was certainly nice to have a washer and dryer available ;)
Can’t wait to stay here again!!!!

This is the ninth time that I and my wife have stayed at Sunset Beach in the last 17 years. This is the most relaxing place that I have ever stayed at in the Caribbean. The grounds are immaculate due to the caretaker Chapin’s hard work and constant maintenance. I recommend this place to all people who like to stay in a friendly, safe, beautiful resort like condo group. The accommodations are very good, and there are kayaks, bicycles, a very clean pool, and a long dock out to the palapa dock where you can snorkel if you want. It is within walking distance to one of our favorite restaurants The Black Orchid and a small bodega for almost everything you need call Marin’s Market. Once again this place is beautiful and it is that way due to Chapin who is extremely friendly, accommodating and interesting to chat with.

Not once did Sunset Caribe mention anything about construction! They a deceptive in trying to rent rooms
Do NOT STAY HERE!! if you a peaceful relaxing vacation….you will constantly hear loud construction noise every day. Woke up to construction workers looking inside our room. Could not use our balcony because the construction noise was so loud! There was also a burn pile at the construction site that blew smoke into our room the first day.
We had to call 3 times just to get new towels and have the room cleaned, finally the third day at 5 pm they came and cleaned the room.
No amenities on site….had to walk down a busy street everyday for breakfast with my older parents who don’t like to walk. Additionally there is no sidewalk walk to walk down the street or handrails in the stairwells.

Girls trip by 4 seasoned travelers in July 2022. We stayed in the 2 bedroom/2 bath room 205. The unit was modern, very spacious and tastefully decorated with a full kitchen. Huge balcony overlooking the pool. It was even nicer than the official website pictures. The hotel has a large pool that felt like an adults only (quiet) oasis while we were there. The hotel is on the lagoon side so no beach access. But amazing views. And we had access to the pool at the sister property across the street Grand Caribe that had several more pools (including swim up bar) and swimable beach access. Shawne at the front desk was patient and very helpful. There is still construction next door but it didn’t bother us at all. Our snorkeling tour company arranged by the hotel picked us up by boat right across the street. The food at the pool and Rain is good. Get the fish sandwich. You can get better rates on golf carts off property but we still used the hotel option one day for the convenience to go to Secret beach. The only suggestion that would make this hotel even better is if they offered a free shuttle into town and maybe also to secret beach a few times a day. I would definitely stay here again.

We have been to the island about 7 times but never stayed north. Our unit was lovely with everything you need for a comfortable 10 day stay, high quality furnishings throughout. Staff helped with all of our requests, they were so nice. Highly recommend. Pool and hot tub were huge and well maintained. Bartenders provided great service. Condo had great layout for families! Restaurant across the street does delivery if you don’t wish to cook or go out. Location of Sunset Caribe is near several hotspots such as Truck Stop and Stellas wine bar. There are also 2 Palapa bars nearby with great ocean breezes.

This place os brand new and they are also selling units. It is part of Grand Caribe which is on the ocean side and Sunset is on the lake side. You can’t go in the water on this side but the pool is gorgeous. Big but here, they don’t tell you about the big construction of an add on next door that over looks the pool and loud construction going on 7 days a Week. So we never used the pool at all and never saw anyone else on it either.
The rooms are new, modern and all kitchen use is great. There was a filtered fridge but staff did not recommend using it so we bought all our water but that still didn’t seem accurate. We stayed 1 week and 1/2 way through our room has stuck badly of old dead fish coming from the laundry area and dishwasher. We never cooked or had fish and it was so bad to stay in the room. The dishwasher also didn’t work even thought it liked like it had it yet been used, we should have called but didn’t bother. We extended our stay and inquired about extra 2 days at a bit of a discount and they would only give our current rate so we checked out to get some peace somewhere else.
If you really need a kitchen then a great place, but there are so many affordable places to eat you may not need it unless you are staying for longer than a week.

Dear Z6807BOheathers, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience staying with us. Your experience of issues in the room is below our standard and for that I apologize. I have shared your feedback with Maintenance and our operations team so that they could address the dishwasher and smell. As you mentioned we are a new resort and are in the process of expanding. We are currently constructing our lobby building equip with a gym, restaurant and bar; as well as an additional condo building with another pool and pool bar. As we expand and add additional amenities and rooms, we hope to provide an exceptional resort experience to our guests. I hope that you choose to stay with us again in the future so that we can turn things around and provide the exceptional level of hospitality that we pride ourselves on.

We stayed in unit 2-113 and it was amazing! Brand new! Literally steps from the pool, bar and lagoon side hot tub. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kids (4-6yo) slept great on the pullout couch. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. The pool was huge and great for swimming laps. We also had access to several pools at the Grand Caribe across the street. There were golf carts available to rent and free kayaks to use if you want to get a little exercise. The condo was equipped with all the amenities including a washer and dryer. Our unit was on the ground floor which made it easy to step right out the back door and into the pool area. Couldn’t be happier and will definitely be back again soon.

Buildings and units are nicely equipped and glorious views of the lagoon. We experienced AirBnB for one of our stays ands, then stayed direct through the resort when we came back a following trip. Having the support of the owners made a difference when it came to having minor issues fixed.
For those worried about power, water, internet, we found all of their back-up systems to be nearly seamless. Whilst there is s 3rd building under construction, it can nor be heard inside the unit. Unfortunately, the positioning of this new building limits the amount of sun for the pool with the bar, building two (lofts in particular) will give you ratio with walk out pool that ha sun nearly all day.
We very much enjoyed the staff and did not go without when we asked for something. I only chose 3/5 due to the inconsistency of the pool bar hours, staffing hours and tenure, new rules being out in place without warning (incremental cost) and mistakes made by concierge mistaking our check out day resulting in our needing to scramble and stay with a friend.
Overall -- the location on San Pedro is brilliant, there is a spa attached to Sunset and Grande Caribe and Sunset is a great price for what you get, and very friendly neighbors to share the best spots on the island.

We stayed in Unit 2-502, a two bedroom unit, and 2-503 last year a one bedroom unit both owned by the same owner. We have been travelling for two years and rate these units the best amongst 30 plus places we have stayed in. The unit is spotless, equipped at a level of detail that we have not experienced during any other stay. Today we used the hand held scale to weight our bags. No detail has been overlooked, the owner is incredibly responsive and helpful in every way. Then there is the team here at Sunset Caribe who are amongst the best trained that we have experienced from security to concierge, general management and housekeeping, but above all else are the Belizean people who are warm, friendly and welcoming with a ready smile. There are very good restaurants, fishing and tours.
