Just 10 minute walk from the center of town, on a quite beach north of town, Hotel del Rio has clean and comfortable; Thatch Roof Cabanas on the Beach, Air Condition units and Standard Rooms all with a great beach front view. We also have 2 large cabanas with a complete Kitchen. All our units have private bathroom with hot and cold showers and mini refrigerators.
We stayed in the Casa Blanca. The room was small but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was not comfortable and there was no place to sit in the room except the bed. Not ideal. One of the reasons we chose this spot was the complimentary light breakfast daily, as listed on their VRBO listing. This is no longer available. There is a small coffee shop on premise that was very good and the ladies who operate it were very pleasant. There are two small dogs that live there, I’m assuming the owner’s, that are pretty much free range, which I don’t normally mind but there doesn’t seem to be much vigilance with cleaning up the grounds behind these dogs. It was very difficult to navigate the droppings when returning after dark. It was overall a nice place with good location but I wouldn’t visit again.…

Such a great place to stay! Staff was welcoming and friendly. Great folks to talk to. I loved how close it was to the water. Best of all was the fact that even though it was only a very short distance away, it was so much less congested than "downtown." Added bonus--bakery, Roadrunner and Arabella's right around the corner.

The room was very small and not enough storage space, however it was in a very good location downtown San Pedro near the bars and restaurants. The outside of the place is really nice, it has a cute garden

We spent 10 days in San Pedro and stayed at the Hotel Del Rio. It is truly an authentic experience of the Island. From the thatched roofs to the hammocks, and the beautiful grounds, you knew you were in paradise. They have a pier with 2 chairs at the end, which is an awesome place to watch the sunrise and sunset each day. That is where I would always find my husband in the mornings. Their staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and the manager. Christine, is very knowledgeable about things going on on the island. There a numerous restaurants, nightlife spots and swimming areas around the hotel so you can walk everywhere and have a great time, They also have a little coffee shop on the premises that makes delicious fresh pastries each morning and makes a great breakfast sandwich. If you want a 5 star giant hotel, go to Cancun, but if you truly want the Island feel, this is the place to be, I will definitely come back here again.…

We originally booked our stay at Hotel Del Rio in February of 2020. Once Covid had everything shut down, the hotel graciously let us keep our booking for a future date. We were able to rebook our trip for March of 2021. The owner, Jim, Christine, and Katnie were very accommodating. Communication with them during the pandemic was easy and straight forward. Once we arrived, they greeted us promptly and were very friendly. Having been in such close communication with them over the previous year, it felt like we knew them already and they welcomed us like family. We opted for one of the un-airconditioned, thatch roofed huts. Our room was clean and comfortable. We did also have a small refrigerator that we used mostly for our bottled water that we bough daily. They do have air conditioned units available, also units with kitchenettes if that is what you are looking for. Even though we didn't have A/C, with the windows open, we got the nice ocean breeze and were never too warm while sleeping. The main palapa in the courtyard became our favorite place to sit and relax. We ate most of our meals there at the table. We loved that there are several local "delis" just behind the hotel. The restaurants on the beach were great, but we liked the little hole in the wall places that the locals eat at. And they were much cheaper! The hotel has an amazing view of the ocean, from just about anywhere on the property. There is also easy access to the beach and swimming just across the street. Along with a dock overlooking the Caribbean with two Adirondack chairs at the end for enjoying the views. I would highly recommend Hotel Del Rio for anyone going to San Pedro. They are one of the few more authentic Belizean style hotels, and they will make your stay enjoyable! We can't wait to go back!!…

The hotel is everything all the reviews say and more. My boyfriend and I have spent a week here and we leave tomorrow and I couldn't be happier with the hotel del rio choice I made! The hotel is beautiful. We stayed in one of the hut rooms and there was plenty of space. The water is both hot and cold. Plenty of amenities if you need them. With staying in the hut room, you don't get an air conditioner. I thought that would be a problem because my bf loves sleeping with the AC on especially in hot humid weather. BUT it was PERFECT. Being right across from the ocean (and I mean literally 15 feet from the ocean) you get an amazing ocean breeze coming in. There is also a ceiling fan to move the air and a floor fan. So we were plenty cool!! The property is well taken care of. House keeping whenever we needed. Chris (the owner or manager) is AWESOME. So very kind and helpful. We wanted to do excursions and she referred us to the right people and we were able to do the things we wanted at a very affordable price. Due to covid, there was no food at the hotel and that is totally okay because you are surrounded with tons of restaurants. The location couldn't be more perfect. I have had a TripAdvisor account for years (that's how I pick all the places I'm traveling to) and this is the first review I have every written. Great, great place.…

We stayed for a week in January and it was the perfect place for us. The location was great. the cabin was ideal and the staff and owner were simply wonderful. Sea side views with beautiful sunrises on the pier. The continental breakfast is served at the community palapa right in the centre of the grounds so you get to meet travellers from all over the world and exchange Belize 'must do's' before your day even started. The housekeeping staff were so sweet and the office personnel very helpful if you need golf cart, tours or where the best coffee shop is. The owner was down having coffee most mornings and has so many great stories. Hotel Del Rio is the perfect location for access and has plenty of cart parking. Walk out your door to the left and you will find La Choza (see review) which was a fantastic local hangout, walk to the right and you will find Hurricanes (see review) which was one of our favorites. this hotel is the perfect blend of modern conveniences and old belize charm. We will definitely be back !!…

I loved our week at the hotel del rio! The rooms are quaint, yet have everything we could need. The staff are helpful, courteous and engaging. The owner is a great guy to sit and talk to as he is always willing to give advice and recommendations on what to do etc. If you are looking for a laid back relaxing place to stay, you have found it at the Hotel Del Rio!

This hotel is very cute and the location is wonderful!!! You walk about 50 ft across the sand “street” and you are at the waterline! Our hotel room was clean and spacious with two double beds and a kitchenette area (Cabinet with dinnerware/cutlery/cups etc) and a small bathroom with walk-in shower. The price was great for our stay. The front office personnel was very helpful and responded quickly when I emailed them questions about our trip. (Response Time was within 10-15 minutes of original email going out...). They helped us rent a golf cart($10 cheaper than the places in town) and even had the golf cart personnel pick us up at the San Pedro Airport and drive us to the hotel. Customer service was excellent and above some 5 star hotels I have stayed at!!! On our last day we needed a ride/taxi to our snorkeling company’s dock and the owner of the hotel took us down there in his golf cart!! What a wonderful gesture for us and it made our trip!!! Great job to everyone who works at Hotel Del Rio! Also on Wednesday evening they had a local dance/sing group and perform for the guests with no cost to us! Wonderful!! Disliked · The room could use an update but it didn’t bother us because the room was very clean and we only slept in the room. There is so much to do outside that you aren’t in your room a lot!!!…
