We stayed for a week in January and it was the perfect place for us. The location was great. the cabin was ideal and the staff and owner were simply wonderful. Sea side views with beautiful sunrises on the pier. The continental breakfast is served at the community palapa right in the centre of the grounds so you get to meet travellers from all over the world and exchange Belize 'must do's' before your day even started. The housekeeping staff were so sweet and the office personnel very helpful if you need golf cart, tours or where the best coffee shop is. The owner was down having coffee most mornings and has so many great stories. Hotel Del Rio is the perfect location for access and has plenty of cart parking. Walk out your door to the left and you will find La Choza (see review) which was a fantastic local hangout, walk to the right and you will find Hurricanes (see review) which was one of our favorites. this hotel is the perfect blend of modern conveniences and old belize charm. We will definitely be back !!

We originally booked our stay at Hotel Del Rio in February of 2020. Once Covid had everything shut down, the hotel graciously let us keep our booking for a future date. We were able to rebook our trip for March of 2021. The owner, Jim, Christine, and Katnie were very accommodating. Communication with them during the pandemic was easy and straight forward.
Once we arrived, they greeted us promptly and were very friendly. Having been in such close communication with them over the previous year, it felt like we knew them already and they welcomed us like family. We opted for one of the un-airconditioned, thatch roofed huts. Our room was clean and comfortable. We did also have a small refrigerator that we used mostly for our bottled water that we bough daily. They do have air conditioned units available, also units with kitchenettes if that is what you are looking for. Even though we didn't have A/C, with the windows open, we got the nice ocean breeze and were never too warm while sleeping.
The main palapa in the courtyard became our favorite place to sit and relax. We ate most of our meals there at the table. We loved that there are several local "delis" just behind the hotel. The restaurants on the beach were great, but we liked the little hole in the wall places that the locals eat at. And they were much cheaper!
The hotel has an amazing view of the ocean, from just about anywhere on the property. There is also easy access to the beach and swimming just across the street. Along with a dock overlooking the Caribbean with two Adirondack chairs at the end for enjoying the views.
I would highly recommend Hotel Del Rio for anyone going to San Pedro. They are one of the few more authentic Belizean style hotels, and they will make your stay enjoyable! We can't wait to go back!!

We spent 10 days in San Pedro and stayed at the Hotel Del Rio. It is truly an authentic experience of the Island. From the thatched roofs to the hammocks, and the beautiful grounds, you knew you were in paradise. They have a pier with 2 chairs at the end, which is an awesome place to watch the sunrise and sunset each day. That is where I would always find my husband in the mornings. Their staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and the manager. Christine, is very knowledgeable about things going on on the island. There a numerous restaurants, nightlife spots and swimming areas around the hotel so you can walk everywhere and have a great time, They also have a little coffee shop on the premises that makes delicious fresh pastries each morning and makes a great breakfast sandwich. If you want a 5 star giant hotel, go to Cancun, but if you truly want the Island feel, this is the place to be, I will definitely come back here again.

We stayed in the Casa Blanca. The room was small but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was not comfortable and there was no place to sit in the room except the bed. Not ideal.
One of the reasons we chose this spot was the complimentary light breakfast daily, as listed on their VRBO listing. This is no longer available. There is a small coffee shop on premise that was very good and the ladies who operate it were very pleasant. There are two small dogs that live there, I’m assuming the owner’s, that are pretty much free range, which I don’t normally mind but there doesn’t seem to be much vigilance with cleaning up the grounds behind these dogs. It was very difficult to navigate the droppings when returning after dark.
It was overall a nice place with good location but I wouldn’t visit again.

I loved our week at the hotel del rio! The rooms are quaint, yet have everything we could need. The staff are helpful, courteous and engaging. The owner is a great guy to sit and talk to as he is always willing to give advice and recommendations on what to do etc. If you are looking for a laid back relaxing place to stay, you have found it at the Hotel Del Rio!

We visited Belize in April of 2022. We cannot say enough great things about Hotel del Rio. It is exactly what we wanted. When we woke up the first morning, we couldn't believe the view from the room as we opened the door. It was a perfect location for walking to everything we needed and of course had golf cart parking. The proprietor was so helpful in getting us a golf cart and sharing so many things to do in town. After several days, we truly didn't want to leave. We then traveled to San Ignacio for a few days and had planned on going to Placencia, but had an issue. We flew back to San Pedro to spend our last few days and I thought I had booked a last minute reservation at Hotel del Rio but I never clicked confirm. The proprietor went out of our way to make sure she found us a room. This place actually made our entire vacation! Can't wait to come back!

Such a great place to stay! Staff was welcoming and friendly. Great folks to talk to. I loved how close it was to the water. Best of all was the fact that even though it was only a very short distance away, it was so much less congested than "downtown." Added bonus--bakery, Roadrunner and Arabella's right around the corner.

I have just completed my second stay at Del Rio with a third already booked.
The hotel is right on the water with restaurants, bars, dive shops and grocery stores close by. It is about a fifteen minute walk along the beach into town.
Accommodation is varied but I have loved my little cabana. It is small and basic and there is nowhere to put my stuff, but it is clean and comfortable and both the refrigerator and the a/c work well, as does the WiFi. I have a little raised porch with a hammock and chairs. I am traveling alone but it would be crowded with two.
The staff are wonderful and housekeeper Yesenia does laundry for a small fee.
The only negative is some noise from nearby Wayo’s bar, which does however cease promptly at midnight.
So not ideal if you like to go to bed early. Perfect though for me as I often end the night at Wayo’s!

Great place to stay on San Pedro. We stayed on one of the rooms in the white house behind the thatched cabanas. The rooms are clean and spacious. The location is great and there are several bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk away. There is also a fantastic little coffee shop on site.
When we first arrived the owner gave us lots of really useful information about the island and things to do etc.
Would highly recommend staying here.
