I've traveled the world and Villa Emerald is in my Top Five of favorite destinations! We stayed for a week and experienced it all: waking up to incredible beach views every day, massage on the dock over the water, Secret Beach fun, relaxing at the lovely pool, magnificent meals at nearby restaurants, and of course, world class snorkeling. And to top it off, the LaPerla staff took exceptional care of us.
La Perla made our trip so easy. We landed in San Pedro after a short plane ride from Belize City. From there, a van took us to the boat dock and we had a refreshing boat ride to the La Perla resort. Porters were there to carry our luggage up the beach and we were greeted with a big sign welcoming us by name and with fresh coconuts, complete with a straw to savor the yummy juice. Every detail was thought of - our stay here was on par with a recent stay I had at the luxurious Waldorf-Astoria in Cabo San Lucas. They arranged a golf cart rental, arranged our boating adventures, and suggested things to do based on our interests.
Whether you're on vacation as a couple, a family, or for a wedding - or like us and combining some work time with vacation time, I highly recommend Villa Emerald. It's amazing!

La Perla - Opal villa is a 20-30 minute drive from town. About half of that journey is on a pothole covered dirt road and the rest is on concrete with speed bumps. For the most part we didn't mind taking a little journey each day in for groceries and dinner, but it got a little old toward the end of the week. All of the bedrooms have AC in them, making sleeping nice. The beds were a little on the hard side, but were fine. The queen bedroom upstairs is all one room with the toilet, sink and shower (which has no curtain) all there together without dividers, so make sure you're good with using the bathroom while your significant other is sleeping or getting dressed. One of the bedrooms downstairs only has access through another bedroom and then the central bathroom, making access there a little difficult. Besides the basic pots, pans etc. there was just salt and pepper for cooking, so if you want oil or any other spices etc. plan on buying them. There are community kayaks, so we took them out to the reef (about a 40? minute paddle) and them tethered them to a sand anchor and snorkeled around, exploring the reef that is a ways off shore. The water is beautiful and clear (except for the large amounts of seaweed that was washing ashore every day). Mexico Rocks is nearby, so we kayaked out to that as well (a little bit further than straight out), but the 'game and fish' guy out there said you could only go in the reserve with a guide, so we snorkeled right on the boundary. The reef is great with coral and all the brightly colored saltwater fish. There are also community beach bikes, so we took them out a time or two and played corn hole on their boards. We all enjoyed the fresh water pool and grounds which were kept very clean. All in all it was a great place to spend a week. Michaela was fantastic and checks in every day, and will bring you whatever you need to make your stay what you want. The golf cart rental places will pick you up, so no need to pay for a taxi from the water taxi or the airport. And about the water taxi, the San Pedro Belize Express is much nicer than the Ocean Ferry and can also be cheaper. Prices seem all over the map and buying in advance from a tour company was actually cheaper for my wife who took some of the kids cave tubing on the main land one day.

Villa Opal at La Perla del Caribe is truly a hidden paradise on the island of San Pedro. Complete with fresh coconuts and a welcome sign at check in, the staff, led by Michaela, facilitated a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere from the moment we arrived. Any need, from transportation arrangements to booking a private chef, were handled with ease, easing any logistical challenges that often accompany travel.
In terms of atmosphere and accommodations, Villa Opal proved to be ideal for our stay. With views of the crystal blue water from the spacious deck and sunroom, you could not ask for a more scenic setting. Likewise, the spacious bedrooms and living spaces (including kitchen) allowed us to feel at home and comfortable while exploring the wonders of San Pedro. The pool is meticulously maintained, and overlooks the ocean as well, providing the ideal setting for some afternoon relaxation. Additionally, La Perla has a great relationship with the local dive master only a short walk away, so arranging diving qualifications and follow-on underwater exploration was a breeze.
In short, if you are looking for the perfect tropical getaway destination, look no further than Villa Opal at La Perla Del Caribe! I would highly recommend to any travelers looking for a restorative stay on the beautiful island of San Pedro!

4 couples stayed in villa Pearl for a friends trip. The house had plenty of room for 8 of us. 2 larger bedrooms and 3 smaller bedrooms. The location is on the north end of San Pedro and we rented 2 golf carts to get around all week. We had dinner one night on the south end and it took one hour to get there by cart but it was nice to see the entire island. Michaela took care of everything we needed: we had a chef come to the villa one night and prepare a delicious meal, we rented a boat and went snorkeling and saw sharks, stingrays, caught fish, drank rum punch and enjoyed the island life. We loved Moon Bar just a little North for pizza and chilling. The trash was collected daily and cleaning was available for an additional fee but very thorough. You cannot swim in the ocean right off property very easily but Secret Beach 20 minutes away was calm and clear. La Perla was a pretty quiet place, very well manicured crowds and extremely nice people.

Stayed several weeks in Villa Emerald and had a fantastic time! Villa Emerald has the best location on the grounds and is literally steps from the ocean, the pool, and is located directly on the beach! The home features two large bedrooms with connecting bathrooms for guests each with its own private screened porch. The large open kitchen and living room are perfect for spending time with guests and the expansive front porch offers incredible views of the ocean. The on site concierge service was always willing to assist with setting up excursions, travel arrangements, and dining options. You also have the option to have a chef come to the home for an additional cost to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had such a great time and look forward to returning to Villa Emerald at La Perla in the future!

This was our second time staying at La Perla and it was even better this time. The grounds, villas, beach, and overall appearance of the property were a bit more refined this time. La Perla's location on the north side of the island provides ample time to disconnect from San Pedro's hustle. Fantastic dining options are located a few minutes in either direction. Michaela served as our point person from reservation to departure. She organized anything and everything you could want to experience during your time in Belize. We had a large party of 11 staying in their largest villa, and from the moment we got in touch with them about the stay they were amazing. Michaela who looked after us during our stay was amazing - she created a whatsapp group for us to communicate with her at any time of the day, and no matter when we messaged her she would respond within minutes. She would also make a point of coming back each morning in person to make sure we didn't want for anything - and any time we did ask for something (creates of beer mainly!!) it turned up within 30 minutes, even just general groceries. She had someone waiting for each of our group as they landed at San Pedro airport to transport them to the villa - based on your preference of whether you wanted to go by taxi or boat.
Location wise, some people may think it's a little far outside of town, but I think it was in a great location. It was quiet enough to totally relax, with two amazing bars/restaurant just minutes away in either direction, plus it was just a short boat ride or golf cart ride down to San Pedro itself. Having it's own dock also meant that any wat er based excursions would come pick you up directly from the dock too.
A great experience and I have no doubt we will be back to stay there again.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Villa Amber in the La Perla Del Caribe Resort. Our experience, from the time we booked, until the time we left, was made even better by the Guest Services Manager, Michaela. Her responsiveness and concern for her guests was outstanding. She made transportation arrangements (including the taxis and golf cart rental) along with dinner reservations and even got some emergency groceries delivered to us on our first night. She also arranged for local massages in our villa which were some of the best our group had ever experienced. The amenities in our villa were excellent with outdoor eating and lounging areas, large open areas indoors, comfortable bedrooms, large bathrooms and very relaxing screened in porches - complete with hammocks. The villa was eclectically furnished with lots of unique pieces making it feel very unique and homey. We cooked in a number of nights with the well equipped kitchen. We also enjoyed many of the site amenities with nice grounds and a nice pool. Overall, we highly recommend La Perla Del Caribe if you are looking for a smaller, quite resort with excellent staff that will ensure your stay is unbelizable!

My wife and two boys (7 and 9) stayed in Villa Sand in October of 2022. We all enjoyed our time so much that we will be planning on returning to La Perla sometime in the future. The pictures and other people's reviews do a great job of accurately describing all of the wonderful things this property has to offer. One thing that was great for me as someone who fishes is that I was able to catch Bonefish, snappers, ladyfish, and other fish from the shore and dock. I brought my fishing gear but the folks there were nice enough to provide bait (Sardines). Thank Roberto.
The one area that I would like to expand on is the amazing service that we received during our stay. When I booked I did so knowing that these are individually owned units that operate under the same HOA for the entire property. I didn't book this place planning on receiving the level of individualized service we received. It started with booking. The staff, specifically Michaela, contacted us and set us up with transportation from the airport and opened up lines of communication on WhatsApp. Once we arrived Kendra was there to greet us and run through all of the features of the property. The staff there provided us with purified water and ice when we needed it. They routinely came and gathered our trash and provided us with new towels and linens. The property has security there overnight, which helped us feel safe, but they also kindly assisted us in getting our fridge to work properly on the first evening. Everyone there went above and beyond. The ground crew was always out in the morning removing seaweed from the beach, raking the sand, and making the property look pristine each day.
I don't know what ownership of this property looks like, but they have hired an amazing team that really cares about their guests. The fact that this place can be somewhere as remote as Ambergris Caye, but is run so extremely well is a testament to the hard-working people that work there. Thanks, Michaele, Kendra, and the entire La Perla staff.

This place was amazing! Literally right on the water. Villa Emerald the one we stayed in, was the best IMO. The service was top notch, if you needed anything Michaela and staff were on it. We wanted to go out snorkeling at like 2:30pm randomly one day, we hit up Roberto and his only response ever was “sure”. We spent most of the days on the water with Roberto’s guys- Mr.Chocolate was the best for snorkeling, he knows every single specie of fish and educates you while taking you to all the right spots. House keeping comes in every day, picks up your dirty laundry, washes, folds it and returns it next day. Michaela had a golf cart lined up for us for the week, she coordinated massages for inside our villa and made sure we always had transportation on our travel days. The only bummer I have is the sargassum in the waters edge all down our beach was pretty heavy so we couldn’t just jump in the water from our porch, but the view was incredible! The service was exceptional, the staff was amazing and we will most definitely be back! Notes: Hol Chan a must. Eat the Marie Sharp’s hot sauce with everything, it’s so good, reef fishing was killer, Secret beach has the best piña colada’s, and use lots of sunblock and bug spray!

There have not been any other reports of the scorpion in any of the villas. I personally feel very comfortable and travel with my kids to Belize often. The Villa is fully enclosed, but it is a tropical location and scorpions do live in Belize. I suggest shaking your shoes before you put them on and zipping up your suitcase when not using it- or hang cloths in closets. This is just to be certain, but it's not a common issue. I hope that helps!

As with most all of the island, the water is very shallow and has sea grass. The beach itself is soft white sand. The reef is 1/3 mile of shore and you can take our kayaks out there to snorkel - there is a mooring right at the reef across from La Perla.
