I’ve been staying here for the past couple weeks for work, the rooms have been hit or miss. The first room was okay. The second one had issues with the bathroom door not easily closing without force and a terrible...
The hotel is old and needs a major facelift. There were people hanging out in the rear parking lot, where my room was, grilling and drinking beer. I was nervous considering I was a solo female. I will not stay at...
The room and the bathroom are olds. The bed is confortable but tha't all. the breakfast can't take his name, only coffe and muffin. The hotel has taken too much money on my credit card and they never refund me.
Stayed here for the Central Florida Region SCCA Turkey Trot event at Sebring International Raceway. Affordable rate for this weekend. Room 215 needs some loving. Appeared to have a recently laid down faux...
We stayed there for the first time this last month and enjoyed a wonderful experience. Stu and MaryRose are the perfect innkeepers. They are friendly and accommodating with a true desire to please their guests. The inn is maintain to the highest standards. I highly recommend this bed-and-breakfast to everyone. I wish more inns were as wonderful as this one!
Was impressed throughout our stay. The owners are a warm and welcoming couple who had been working hard to make improvements and update this B&B. They have added many great features and extras. Their website reflects it all. We will book another stay very soon! We felt welcome from the moment we walked in the door. The home is beautiful inside and out even with the winter weather. We were very pleased with how immaculately clean it was and their attention to details. Our trip ended up being a wonderful experience through and through. Whether staying in highlands county or even looking to hit the various beaches or tourist destinations in Tampa and Orlando, we recommend Lake Verona Lodge B&B for your centrally located accommodations.
Avon Park is about 76 miles south of Orlando. We had already done Universal Studios and Disney Land so to avoid the hustle and bustle of the major tourist areas, we decided to visit a quieter area. The Lake Verona Lodge Bed & Breakfast is run by a charming couple from the U.K., Steve & Gloria Vanderzee. In 2000 they purchased the 5 bedroom 4 bath circa 1925 two story home and over the next two years rehabbed it into a gorgeous antique filled B&B that is elegant yet unpretentious. The house overlooks Lake Verona, where you can swim or fish, and there are public tennis courts as well. While we were there I did fish. Just a few blocks away is Henricks, a small grocery store with a separate well equipped bait shop in the back. I was able to purchase a non-resident fishing license there, as well as worms. It was so convenient. I felt all of the stress leave me as I casually fished and watched the sun come up, and was joined by an egret walking along the shore searching for his breakfast. The rooms in the house are named after US Presidents. We stayed in the Kennedy suite. The room was spacious and had its own bathroom, tv, a dorm sized refrigerator, and wireless internet, which we used to check our email each day. Gloria picked out all of the furnishings in the house and she really has an eye for creating warm cozy attractive surroundings. The house and grounds were immaculate. Before booking this trip I visited their website: http://www.way.to/LakeVeronaLodge and saw that they offered a complimentary continental breakfast. On paper it didn't impress me. However, the first morning after our arrival I must say I had to revise my initial take on it. The table in the dining room where we ate was beautifully set with china and a small floral arrangement. There was a fresh fruit salad, orange juice, and coffee. We picked out our cereal from the china shelf in the dining room. Steve, who is very funny, served us, bussing the table as we finished each segment of the breakfast. Then he returned with a toasted muffin, with an assortment of jelly and preserves. The lovely table setting and the service, along with the food made the sum much greater than the parts. On our last night we sat on the front porch in the ultra comfortable Adirondack chairs, enjoying the evening breeze and the view of the lake. Steve and Gloria came out after a while and we had a wonderful laugh filled chat with them. All in all, over the course of our 3 days there we felt we had made two new friends. We highly recommend Lake Verona Lodge Bed & Breakfast to anyone who wants to slow the pace down a little in a wonderfully warm cozy environment, with people that go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. We will definitely come back.…
