I will start by saying that the hotel is absolutely beautiful. Great customer service. Super quick check in and our room was ready 5 min after we arrived. Very please with the hotel. My only negative feedback is the water park. First I don’t believe it’s worth the price it is when you buy a day pass without staying at the hotel. There were no chairs to sit on Sunday it was very crowded. They have a 45 min policy if people don’t return to their seats but I didn’t see it enforced and it’s hard to keep track of peoples whereabouts. So we had no chair Sunday. Monday was crowded but we came later afternoon and we found some seats. The dress code is not enforced. Women were wearing thongs and very inappropriate swimsuits which on their website says is not allowed. I had to explain to my kids “why are people naked?” As they asked me… The water slides have height requirement and maximum weight. However there is nowhere where it says that you need a minimum weight to ride. My 2 daughters went up the stairs carrying the heavy 2 seater tube only to get to the top and be asked to go back down because “they are too light combined weight” and can’t ride. They are skinny 9 year olds. This led to some crying and disappointment. I wish I would have known ahead to avoid this. And I couldn’t ride with them because I can’t go on the slides for other reasons. Pictured are my 2 girls super excited to go up before being sent back down :( Finally the attractions close too early. 5pm during the week even though it’s vacation is way too early in my opinion. We might go back to the hotel because it really is a nice hotel but people should know about the water park. I would rate 5 stars hôtel. 3 stars water park. And Avoid weekends if you can because it is super crowded.…
My experience was nothing short of exceptional! The hotel seems to be very well run from start to finish including front office, housekeeping (such a clean room and public spaces), great F&B, and such an amazing experience out at Tidal Cove. I got to interact with so many all-star employees while hanging out at Tidal Cove for two day. Shout outs to: Dora, Cesar, Masha, Odanie, Kevin, and Yvaine. And I can't forget Jeff Mikus. Wow! He takes the time to speak to everyone out there, remembers who they are, and seems to make it special for all. Very well run operation. Thanks for an amazing first time experience.
We were excited to head down to Aventura for a wedding. I spent a lot of time in the area as a kid. Unfortunately the hotel experience was way below our expectations from start to finish. We arrived on Saturday afternoon. We had a wonderful lunch & walk on Miami Beach. When we got to the property we had a tight schedule before the wedding. After checking in, which took a while, it took the staff over 1 hour to get our bags up to the room - strike 1. That pretty much eliminated most of my time to relax by the pool. When it was time to head out to the service, we called for the car and ended up waiting way too long - strike 2. They told us around 15 min. However, we almost ended up arriving late as it took much longer each time we had to get our car. Additionally, the elevator in our hotel broke & the lines/wait to get upstairs was ridiculous. Strike 3. I also tried to get keyless access to the room via my cell phone. We had at least 3 attempts and they still were unable to get it to work. I called multiple times and went down to the front desk too. We were thinking of coming back for another visit and playing golf but after our experience, this place is off of our list. It’s hard to put this place as a top rated resort with the level of service and experience we had. Nobody really seem to care.…
My family and I arrived 6/6 and it is absolutely lovely. We're having a great time thus far! My birthday is today 6/8 and I would like to thank your staff member Henry for making it memorable. Thank you so much for the happy birthday card, cake and chocolate. I truly appreciate it! This is a breathtaking place to enjoy time with family!
Stayed here for 3 nights during the week (before Memorial Day), husband/myself and 3 elem. age children. Once again stayed in 2 bedroom Jasmine Tower suite - high floor overlooking golf course and water park so completely quiet at night!! We love this tower and elevators are super fast, never crowded. Great customer service again!! 2 days spent again at Water Park - never crowded, pool great, yes food expensive everywhere on property but to be expected and good quality. We love Corsair for breakfast! We loved once again walking to mall across street nightly for alternate dinner options, shopping, etc. This is truly the nicest hotel with full water park I've researched in Florida, most other hotels have maybe 1 or 2 slides at most and very crowded. This truly feels like a resort on an island - very upscale/luxurious! Will be visiting again next year! (FYI - beds a little soft but I have bad back so like firm; ac fan can be adjusted if need it for white noise at night - which I love that option!).…
As a loyal Marriot customer for years, we were treated very poorly with no effort to accommodate basic requests- made me reconsider continue to book travel with Marriot hotels and brands. For example, due to our status, we are offered late checkout, but they refused due to being booked solid- yet our friends who were traveling with us were given later checkout when they requested after us. Service, overall was poor with long waits for everything- this was likely due to holiday weekend- but expect more based on how much we spent to stay there. At the waterpark, we ordered drinks that never arrived and then they charged us for them anyway. When we told them we didn't receive the drinks, they argued with us (but ultimately did remove the wrong charge). Seriously bad customer service. The room quality was also bad- the beds were very soft and uncomfortable. The towel felt old and rough. The food at breakfast and dinner was overpriced and mediocre quality. Will not be staying again or recommending to anyone.…
Came here for a wedding with many couples. Came as a Titanium member. Busy busy hotel. Checked in and got a room in the Orchid tower. Decent room and nice bathroom. They had an Elite area in the bar off the front desk open for 8-4pm. No room upgrade or late check out available but this is the new norm. Breakfast was a nice buffet and that was included. The water park we did not even bother with as heard overcrowded. Luckily there was an adult pool which was peaceful. Valet was the downfall as took 30+ minutes to get your car. Elevators were a bit troublesome in our tower but otherwise the hotel was above other typical Marriotts. I would avoid holiday time if I had to go back!
This is our second time at Turnberry. I am staying at the hotel today over Memorial Day weekend. The service has been subpar from the time I arrived there were not enough valets and bell hops to handle the crowds. At the water park there were no chairs and Jeff the manager put us in some reserved chairs for 8 of us and then brought other people abd took 2 of the chairs back and yelled at my daughter and her friend that we should be happy we got what we got and these chairs cost money as. We got them for free. There was wait service but after the waitress said hello we did not see her again so we just went to the bar to get food and drinks and there were only 2 bartenders to service this huge crowd of people . The lines were so long at the water slides my kids only got on 2. The. We came in and the elevators had something wrong with them In the orchard building there was 20 minute lines to get in the elevators. We wound up missing our dinner reservation because we couldn’t get back down in the elevators ..on a positive note the rooms were nice. Maybe they should not let not hotel guests into the water park on holiday weekends? Or hire more staff? Not the stay I expected at a jw marriot.…
We stayed at the hotel last night for an off site wedding. I dropped my husband off and went for an appointment while he was going to relax at the pool. ONE HOUR later upon my return, our luggage STILL wasn't in our room. I had to go with a bellman and pick out our bags from a conference room. My husband was told the bags would be delivered within minutes of his check in. Strike one. When we were ready to leave the property, knowing there would be many people requesting cars, we called a half hour prior to needing our car and STILL needed to wait over fifteen minutes for our car. 45 minutes to get a car? Strike two. Then this morning when we checked out, again requested our car well in advance and waited an additional 25 minutes. Strike three. While the room and property were lovely it is hard to understand how a property managed so poorly can be ranked so highly by conde nast. It's a shame because as Florida residents it would have been a nice get away or golf weekend. But that is highly unlikely to happen.…
We had a 5 night stay here at the jw. Based on previous reviews we decided to stay on the orchid tower and had the most amazing view from our balcony. The room was very clean and spacious. We were a little disappointed that the room didn’t have a refrigerator, but room service delivered ice to our room promptly to keep our drinks cold. The pool area/ tidal cove had plenty of seating and the service here was top notch. We really enjoyed having lunch and drinks served right to our chairs. Everyone was very friendly here. We made a reservation at Bourbon’s steakhouse one night during our stay and was beyond impressed with the service and food! We also schedule a photo session with concierge photography and our slideshow and portraits turned out absolutely beautiful. Chris our photographer was able to pose our family in different parts of the resort with the most beautiful scenery. The JW never disappoints as this is our third resort we have stayed at! Highly recommend visiting, as it’s a family oriented resort that is beautifully maintained! Thanks for a great stay…
