We travelled to Apalachicola in late May 2016 for a kayak race. We originally booked two nights at a different property but the room there was very unsatisfactory. Luckily, the Gibson Inn had a vacancy so we moved for the second night. The staff at the Gibson Inn was helpful and the room was very clean/well maintained. The property is... More

We just live 50 or so miles away in Panama City Beach and have been over to Apalach many times but have never overnighted. The Gibson is everything one would want in an old-timey, old Florida Inn. Everything is period from the wrap around porch to the lobby to the dinning and bar rooms and the guest rooms. The staff... More

Quaint and very nice rooms. You just have to remember that the building is very old but super clean. The staff were very friendly and went out of the way to accommodate out late arrival and early departures.

This is one of those charming old-time Florida places that are quietly going extinct. The proprietors certainly understand grace, service and caring. The hotel is well maintained and reflects the architecture of the early 1900s. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. I love walking around the small town antique shopping and poking around in the small shops. And then....... More

Sometimes, mistakes turn out well. This was one of them. I spent hours on the computer trying to find reservations for the Independence Day week-end... to no avail. I was trying to make last minute arrangements to meet with a distant relative. Finally, it occurred to me that people would be checking out on the 4th, so I finally got... More

A beautifully renovated architectural gem! There is nothing like staying in a historic hotel when visiting a quaint historic town. The hotel is conveniently located - everything is walkable from the riverfront to the shops to the beautiful nearby neighborhoods. Though it was my first visit the staff was so friendly I felt like I had been coming for years.... More

Our tour consisted of a nights stay at the Gibson Inn. What a delightful Inn. check in smooth, hospitality great, rooms different from one another with each having their own unique touch. Inn accommodated our group for a breakfast even though they aren't open for breakfast, with a great chef. Just a wonderful place in a small quaint town. A... More

This place is filled with old and dusty antiques that can possibly be interesting, however our room had carpet that looked like it was installed in the 1800s. Dirt and dust filled the room, to include our box spring, floor, and air vents. In a couple spots in the floor were weak enough, you could've fallen through. The place is... More

This was our first stay at the Gibson and we loved it! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. We plan to go back every few months for a night stay! We stayed on the 2nd floor right above the lobby and it wasn't too loud at all for a Saturday night.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
