Certificate of Excellence
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath.

My husband and I spent a night here during a road trip from Savannah to New Orleans. We never stay in chain hotels- always go for the boutique hotel, or local historical inn. Therefore, we are always surprised! And can't complain. The Gibson Inn is in a great location, close to th

Located near waterfront in historic area. Only on street parking, but no worries. No elevator, but wide stairway inside and numerous stairs to the 2nd floor wrap around porch. Room was small, bed very comfortable, AC works well. No fridge, no coffee maker. Yes TV. Each room i

Stay here if you want some bedbugs. Thought the place would be nice to stay at. Just a quick getaway with my husband, but first no towels in the bathroom, then the next morning woke up and didn’t turn on the lights, just the bathroom light, and saw some bugs crawling on the bed c

Response from Gibson_Inn1, Manager at Gibson Inn
Responded Sep 11, 2018
The minute we were informed, we took immediate action to eliminate any possibility of a problem. Like other quality, vigilant hotels, we have a five-step program to prevent bed bug outbreaks. But, should a new guest introduce a bug to a room through their luggage or clothing, we also have a solid program of immediate intervention to ensure no other guest needs to be concerned. Out of an abundance of caution, we had two different pest control companies inspect each room in the hotel, as it is very easy for a guest to unknowingly bring them in with their luggage, or from a shop. We contract for monthly pest control services, to help prevent any pest issues. Our housekeeping staff is also trained on using the necessary tools for detection. We are very confident that all of our rooms are pest free. I hope you will consider us when you next visit Apalachicola.

Love everything about the Inn! Staff is always so friendly and helpful. Wonderful place to relax and spend a quiet weekend rocking on the wrap around porch. Murder mystery weekends at the Inn are also alot of fun!

Do they give discounts to Triple A members?
I'm not AAA. I do not know what they honor. A quick phone call would find out.

is the parking sufficient for a pickup and uhaul length?
If you're the first one there! :D There is street-side parking, but it is not "ample." Aside from maybe 6-8 parking spaces along side the hotel, one has to walk from 25-75 yards to reach one's car.

Does anyone know if the hotel is accessible for folks in wheelchairs?
Except for one suite, no. ll other rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor, up long and sometimes very steep stairs. One can reach the restaurant and bar on the first floor via a wheelchair ramp.
