The Gibson Hotels' architecture speaks for itself, old Florida, real wood- no stucco. It's where it happened and still does, folks on the porch mingling in a not so noisy atmosphere like other Johnny come lately spots in this quaint Lost Coast town.

This hotel is charming "old Florida" style. We had a big room on the 1st floor. It easily accommodated 2 adults and 3 kids for one night. The room was clean and the staff (Zanna & Jinny) were very friendly. We enjoyed playing cards in the main room. Followed by dinner. Dinner was OK but, if you're in town for... More

Excellent historic inn. We had a lovely two room suite with two full bathrooms. Large wrap around first and second floor veranda with View of the Apalachicola Bay Bridge . Gormleys restaurant on premises is excellent fine dining. Bar has Pub menu and music on weekends.

We travelled to Apalachicola in late May 2016 for a kayak race. We originally booked two nights at a different property but the room there was very unsatisfactory. Luckily, the Gibson Inn had a vacancy so we moved for the second night. The staff at the Gibson Inn was helpful and the room was very clean/well maintained. The property is... More

We just live 50 or so miles away in Panama City Beach and have been over to Apalach many times but have never overnighted. The Gibson is everything one would want in an old-timey, old Florida Inn. Everything is period from the wrap around porch to the lobby to the dinning and bar rooms and the guest rooms. The staff... More

Quaint and very nice rooms. You just have to remember that the building is very old but super clean. The staff were very friendly and went out of the way to accommodate out late arrival and early departures.

This is one of those charming old-time Florida places that are quietly going extinct. The proprietors certainly understand grace, service and caring. The hotel is well maintained and reflects the architecture of the early 1900s. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. I love walking around the small town antique shopping and poking around in the small shops. And then....... More

Sometimes, mistakes turn out well. This was one of them. I spent hours on the computer trying to find reservations for the Independence Day week-end... to no avail. I was trying to make last minute arrangements to meet with a distant relative. Finally, it occurred to me that people would be checking out on the 4th, so I finally got... More

A beautifully renovated architectural gem! There is nothing like staying in a historic hotel when visiting a quaint historic town. The hotel is conveniently located - everything is walkable from the riverfront to the shops to the beautiful nearby neighborhoods. Though it was my first visit the staff was so friendly I felt like I had been coming for years.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
