Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The accommodations are more than I expected. It has a retro 50s classic upscale feel with the high ceilings and crown molding. Two full baths. Four poster bed. Classic decorations. Not cluttered or tacky. Washer and dryer. Full kitchen. Ice maker is not available after hours (plan for this). Dog friendly. Balcony over the canal was a plus (screened in). Hearing the dolphins breathe in the early morning hours was a treat. Easy stroll to shops and restaurants. Pool.

We scheduled this for two nights while in town for an event. We were just thrilled when we arrived & saw our beautiful room. We had a gorgeous view of the water & huge screened patio, living, kitchen, master bedroom & a smaller bedroom as well as two bathrooms. The accommodations were quiet, clean & very well maintained. Close to everything as well. We can’t wait to return!

We stayed at the Water Street Hotel & Marina in February. It's in a beautiful location along the water and the suites are incredible. They are clean, large, well equipped, and have great screened in balconies providing a wonderful view of the waterways adjoining the Gulf. The location provides a comfortable walking distance to everything in Apalachicola, and we found the area interesting to visit. Our only issue was that when we had booked our reservation several months earlier an abbreviated continental breakfast was included in the rate for each morning during our stay. This was supposed to be provided through delivery. When we arrived and asked about this, they told this it had been discontinued. We always try and stay in hotels that include breakfast, so were quite surprised. And, that we had paid for something we did not receive. With the exception of this issue, we enjoyed staying there.

We had never been to Apalachicola and chose to visit and splurge. Online, the Water View Resort looked appealing. We reserved Room 302 for three days in May, 2023.
Our disappointment was huge. I have reserved this review for several months to be certain my review contains no emotions. This review is accurate and needs to be shared so you can make decisions accordingly.
We arrived and within the first hour decided to only stay for one night instead of three. Upon advising the Manager of our decision he disagreed with our objections, accepted our request to check-out the next day, and informed us the cost of our one night would be $369 versus our previously agreed $298.24 because we would not be staying all three nights. We were penalized with a rate increase $70.76 because we objected to the following:
1) No convenient place to unload luggage 2) No convenient place to park – only remote parking, which did not feel safe 3) The Water View Resort is literally next door to an industrial gas company (JVB Gas) 4) The guest check-in area had old furnishings and antiquated computer hardware 5) Tired facilities with noticeable deferred maintenance 6) Lights were burned out by elevators (see picture) 7) Flat tire on luggage cart – obvious that it had been flat for a long time (see picture) 8) Supply room door next to the elevator on 1st floor was open and unappealing 9) Ultra slow guest Wi-Fi Internet connectivity 10) Private boats at the resort’s dock with loud karaoke singers 11) Dogs inside a nearby room were howling at the karaoke singers. The dogs were so obnoxious, it was not possible to sit and relax on the porch 12) Porch doors do not close or lock 13) Six drinking glasses – no two were the same size or shape (see picture) 14) Hot water was available in all sinks but no hot water in either shower. After attempting to run hot water in both showers for many minutes, we were forced to bathe standing by the bathroom sink. 15) Bathroom mirror had black edges from excess moisture (see picture) 16) Grout stains by the sink (see picture) 17) Sink stopper literally broken off – no handle in Master Bath (see picture)
It was a very disappointing experience. Choice Hotels states the Water View Resort is part of their Ascend Collection. In my opinion, this “Resort” is Descending. Save yourself from disappointment and frustrations – AVOID the Water View Resort.

It's truly a beautiful location, and we had lots of space to spread out, a screened-in porch facing the water and very comfortable lodging. The first electrical problem we had was in the bedroom. If you plugged anything into one socket, the lights went out and we had to flip the circuit breaker. The next day, when I came back to the room, the kitchen sockets were buzzing like hornets. No, I am not making this up. I was told by the front desk that it was a power surge. As a result, neither kitchen socket worked (we used the Keurig on the floor), nor did either bathroom socket. When I talked with the front desk in person, the attendant seemed rather unconcerned.

WOW! What a nice room! I hadn't realized we had a condo for a night! The four-poster bed in the master bedroom was a treat, and so was the attached master bathroom. Dow the hall was a small bedroom with a single bed. Next to that was another full bath. There was a full kitchen with pots, pans, plates, glasses, silverware, etc. The sofa was a sleeper bed. There was a screened in porch with table and chairs. The view was sublime! There are wheelchair ramps and an elevator. There is an outdoor pool. The only thing lacking is breakfast, but we knew that going in. All of this is within walking distance of the stores and restaurants in downtown Apalachicola.

When we first pulled in, it was dark outside so we couldn't really see too much of the surrounding area so we were nervous but when we entered our room we were shocked. It was HUGE. We had a two bedroom king suite. It fit our needs perfectly for our four night stay. The king room was very roomy with a large closet allowing us to unpack and never touch our suitcases until we had to pack to leave. The little twin room was just enough for our teenager. The kitchen and living room were comfortable (although the kitchen could use a few more utensils). But it was the screened in porch overlooking the river that blew us away. We spent almost all of our time out there (when we weren't exploring the town) watching the river otters and pelicans. The hotel is an easy walking distance from the town and restaurants.

It took us 12 hours to drive to Apalachicola from SW Florida for the Hurricane Milton evacuation. When we arrived, it was late, and we were absolutely frazzled. Night shift employee Amanda came to our immediate aid and we were quickly given our room key. What a blessing she was that night. We originally booked two nights but soon realized we needed a third. Although we didn’t mind, they originally told us we would have to move rooms for that final night. The day of the move, Leigh Coble let us know we were staying put. They had worked things out for us even though we didn’t ask. Wow! We were very impressed with our experience here.

Great motel, clean, water views with screened balcony. Well stocked full kitchen and two bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable. There is no breakfast but they provide in-room food (muffins, yogurt and fruit) for breakfast.

Great location along channel into shrimp trawler harbor from bay. The boats pass close, and across channel it goes to horizon with salt marshes full of wildlife: osprey nest , bald eagles, pelicans etc. Within walking distance of business district in town. It was our second year staying multiple days.
House keeping has been an issue both stays. The 2 bedroom apartments (2 stories) have not been adequately cleaned both times before our arrival. This year the beds were not made, dirty laundry from previous renters was heaped on floor. This is not a hotel that replaces worn appliances. TV remote we were told did not work, microwave crapped out 2 days into stay, wires hanging down from bottom of fridge (previous year). We expected more for $200/nite . But what REALLY grated is that it is a non-smoking facility except for 2 designated sites, and you sign separately acknowledging that when you check in. And yet, they do nothing when you complain when a smoker violates these rules and blows smoke across all the porches. I have asthma and got chased off my porch several times.
Great view.....but we won’t be back.
