What we thought would be a great place to stay was absolutely AWFUL! We were so disgusted with our room we cancelled it as soon as we saw it and ended up having to stay in Port St. Joe for the night for 400 dollars for the night. The room was dirty, there was spackle that had never been repainted over above the bed, the bed skirt was ripped, the mirror had tooth paste splatter on it also. The room just gave me very dingy vibes. We told the girl at the front desk about this and her reply was “I’ll leave a note for the manager” and she just sat there scrolling on her phone ignoring the situation. We had tried to talk to get in contact with the manager every day from Saturday to today (Tuesday) with no luck! We were told this room was cancelled but there is still a pending charge on our bank account. This is just absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional all around. DO NOT STAY HERE!

So where do I start. The fact that this place is not practicing complete social distance of that the old too old hotel room was dusty and unclean. Or do I start at how the manager Elizebeth C. (Lee) was very racist toward my wife and I. Do I also mention how we were very uncomfortable being the only colored lesbian couple on the property. No one spoke and all she wanted was our money. She also accused us of stealing a pillow/ Misuse of a hand towel but over charge my card and accused me of having an animal in the room because she decided to go in our room open a doubled tied trash bag with outside trash from me cleaning out the car. She tell us we don’t bring trash from out our car or luggage into her hotel.... since when you can’t use the trash can when you’re already being ripped off and mistreated. She threatened to call the police who we actually called and she made this big seen. When in all truth she had her own personal issues, the situation was very degrading, judgmental and very embarrassing. Told us to get of her property as if we were such animals. Even the officers who came out very nice by the way said she had a personal issue and made no sense. They made a case and told me how to proceed this civil. We told her to run the tape to prove an dog and that this was their towel she. We had receipts and proof but she didn’t and she refused to give us our money back. I’ve never been charged for my own trash and/or towel. This experience was horrible. Thanks so much to the pastor across the street who come to check on us and recorded the Who thing!!! All he could do was shack his head and apologize. This place needs to be upgraded not only with their appearance but real staff who don’t smell like cats and a full ash tray!!!! I will never step a foot back in this place. Racist!!!!!!

Coombs Inn and Suites is thoroughly cleaned daily by trained associates using all newly introduced CDC, Florida Department of Health, and local health department guidelines. The health and safety of our associates, our valued guests, and our community are of the utmost importance to us. All social distancing guidelines are followed for everyone’s safety. As a hotel and community, we all embrace diversity and go out of our way to welcome each and every guest in a warm and accommodating way to our hotel. Any additional charges incurred by our guests stay are discussed and properly documented, along with any supporting evidence of the additional charges. As such, these matters are addressed directly with our guests and not in an open forum. We regret that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. We try very hard to ensure our guests enjoy their experiences with us.

We arrived and were greeted with a dark gloomy lobby only one table lamp at the end of the hallway. There were two women in a room marked dining room full of linen that they were folding. One came out and checked us in. Our room on the second floor was the green room with 2 full beds (the one shown in the first picture on the tripadvisor site). There were no curtains, as depicted, and 2 of the 4 horizontal blinds in the bay window were broken and had to be manipulated by hand to get them to open, one of the upholstered stools had holes in the fabric and the other stool the stuffing was hanging out and was badly stained, there was no fridge but there was an empty space for one in the dresser tallboy, the bathroom has an old iron claw foot bath, with a poorly constructed copper pipe creating an oval rod which holds a curtain around it. The shower head was filthy, constantly dripped loudly onto the iron bath and at some point someone who painted the room had splashed paint on it. Both beds had deep center depressions and were very uncomfortable. The wood furniture needed to be cleaned or at least dusted. The next morning my husband took a shower but noticed that his feet had left black feet impressions in the tub. When I checked the "Gleaming wood floors" I found that they were absolutely filthy, luckily I had been wearing slippers so I took them off and I could feel that the floor was sticky. I went to take a shower but there was no hot water left, so I showered in tepid water. When we came back to the Hotel that evening, the toilet roll holder had fallen off the wall and we noticed the AC in our room was not working, and were told that this was a continuing problem that had not been fixed and the toilet roll holder had fallen off before, no remedy was offered. At that point we decided we would stick it out one more night as it was too late to find anywhere else. In the morning, there was no hot water at all so neither my husband nor I could shower so we just splashed some water on our faces and checked out. That was Sunday 21st 2020, Father's Day and we paid $359.10 ($179.55) for 2 nights total with taxes $391.42. This Hotel needs to be inspected by Choice Hotels or removed from their list, it is NOT luxurious at all and to the person(s) whoever owns it needs to sell it to someone who understands how to run a Hotel.

Bathrooms dirty, thick dust under bed,hair pins found about the room. Towels replaced in a plastic bag left outside the room. No soap! Complained to manager who became very defensive and nasty. We checked out early cutting our trip short. The worst hotel visit we have ever experienced.

Stayed one night and checked out early for a healthier and more gratifying experience. This place is close to downtown, but it is seriously in need of upgrades: furniture, electrical, plumbing and air conditioning maintenance. It needs amenities: toilet paper, ice, coffee, microwave. It needs to be cleaned, and would be better served with staff that at least cared about the health and well being of their patrons.
