Great rooms, great staff, great food at Plato's restaurant. Pool and fitness center are fantastic. Shuttle service was reliable and drivers were always friendly. plenty of stops around Aspen. Awesome place to stay, highly recommend.
We stayed at the resort for 3 nights. Room was nice, but not luxurious like you'd expect for Aspen. The biggest problem is when we arrived the rooms heat was blasting, like over 80 degrees. I turned off the thermostat and had to open windows (22 degrees outside) Room took forever to cool down, like 2+ days. We didn't bring summer clothes to wear inside so we roasted. The rooms definitely need a refresh! HOusekeeping only comes every 3rd day, which is ridiculous. They charge a resort fee of $30 a day, but in the snow and rain, it's hard to do anything resorty. We went to breakfast one morning, unfortunately, we went at like 9:30am, the food was old and stale. Server was rarely on the floor so I had to serve myself coffee and water. The only thing edible was the fruit. It is an okay place to stay, I felt safe there, but didn't think it was a "resort" at all.…
We splurged on a more expensive room (600 per night) because it advertised a mountain view and the hotel looked nice. The hotel was more like a dorm and the view straight on was a parking lot. We thought it was just aspen prices but we found much better rates and facilities elsewhere, unfortunately they wouldn't let us check out early after we found bugs next to our pillows and the old mini fridge kept us up all night. Expect to not find parking if you happen to be staying there on a night when they host a party. I could hear the music loud enough to sing along past 10:30pm when we had an early flight the next morning. Management could care less.
We were here for our wedding anniversary and it was perfect!!! The grounds were lovely!!! The creek was amazing!!!! The view from our room was magical !! The staff was great and helpful, the free shuttle service to downtown Aspen was very convenient. We are iññ definitely come here again!!!!
Wonderful stay in AspenWe had a great time at this property easy enough to walk downtown or take the shuttle everyone was super friendly and Kevin at the front desk was able to help out with any questions we had definitely would recommend this place to a family. Also the breakfast buffet it was delicious and super convenient
This property gave us a wonderful experience in Aspen's natural beauty. It is ringed by mountains and fields, so it's a country experience which is adjacent to a sophisticated town. We could have a small snack in our room or a meal in the restaurant or order room service all day. Very comfortable and well equipped rooms. Friendly staff. We found the art and new museum to be unusual and exciting additions.
Definitely a throwback to what, the 70's? The suites are spacious. The decor is modernist yet oddly dated. Beds quite comfy. The no AC thing was fine since we were there in October. Hot water was scalding hot, so be cautious! Food at Platos was quite good, breakfast in lower level was just ok. Coffee quite strong and when adding milk, suddenly the hot coffee is better served with ice cubes (no microwave to reheat). Perhaps consider warm milks for the coffee? On a positive note, the family wedding was gorgeous! The sun shone brightly for the service amid previous threats of rain (ok, hotel had nothing to do with that). The wedding was beautiful and quite elegant without being over the top. Food was terrific and well served. Gorgeous views outside. Yeah, the hotel is kinda funky but it worked. Still think the rooms could use a bit of an update but if it's trying to be hip, understated and somewhat dated, it achieved its goals.…
Grounds are lovely, food and drink at Plato’s were great, housekeeping was wonderful. Lack of AC but we were aware of that going in. 3 stars because the pull out couch mattress was broken, the keurig coffee maker was broken, and, front desk staff didn’t seem well trained: when I mentioned these issue they just laughed. Given the price of this spot, I would have hoped for better.
Interesting resort. It started life as the Aspen Institute, a think-tank. Buildings and decor are modernist in the Bauhaus design, very austere, very functional, lots of angles. Our suite was large and quite comfortable. Perfect view of the meadow and ski areas. Lovely grounds, plenty of walking and hiking paths. Our dog thought it was heaven. Loved having free parking on the premises, and the shuttle to downtown Aspen was a godsend because parking downtown is a nightmare. No A/C, but we were not too bothered, even in August. Kept the windows open and fans running. Showers were on the warm, not hot side. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and recommend it, especially if you are traveling with a dog.
Location is outstanding with easy access to hiking and wonderful views of the ski areas. We had difficulty w hot water, several times we took lukewarm showers. The property is older but it has been well maintained. Service was excellent. Be aware there is no air conditioning in the rooms. We were comfortable as long as we opened the windows at night.
