My wife and I visited the St. Regis Aspen for a wedding and really enjoyed it. This was our first time to Aspen and we decided to splurge and stay at the St. Regis and it was worth it. The hotel is elegant. We did not get an upgrade, but our room was nice with a large TV and the bathroom had two sinks. The concierge service is amazing and Elizabeth was very helpful for ideas and reservations. Aiden at the front desk had good ideas also including the Saturday Farmer’s Market in October and breakfast in town. The St. Regis has an amazing amenity of getting a four-hour test drive of a BMW. We drove near the Continental Divide and hiked in the Grotto. There are also free bikes to use. I also went on a beautiful hike near the hotel. The hotel is just a block away from the central area of Aspen, so we did not need a car when we were there. We would definitely stay at the St Regis again.

The St. Regis name is synonymous with palatial surroundings, world-class locations and top service. This resort certainly fits into the mold of one’s expectations for a SR stay. I do think it’s hard to review hotels during the pandemic, because nothing is what it once was. To assume you’re going to have the five-star experience of 2019 or before is a wrong assumption. People are tired, budgets have been cut, and many small things we’re used to like a lively Champagne Sabering just are not the same. This hotel tried their best to deliver a solid experience as the slow season was upon them, and the team delivered. The hotel’s hard product really shines in the rooms. We booked a terrace room on level two facing Aspen Mountain. Sitting in the sun with a glass of champagne watching the skiers slice through the snow up above was a really entertaining time, and I am thankful we had such a large outdoor space. The room itself was a generous size, with beautiful furnishings, thick bed linens and a large marble bathroom with an elephant-sized rain head shower. Absolutely fantastic rooms here. The public spaces are beginning to look a little bit tired – they are still very nice, but it’s time for a refresh to something that matches the upstairs hallways and rooms. The décor here is very disjointed. The food and beverage program left something to be desired as well – only casual food options were available and there was no service at the pool and jacuzzi. The spa however is fantastic, and the relaxation areas rival those of a large European mountain resort – complete with an oxygen bar! All in all, a great stay. I just couldn’t imagine paying over $1,000.00 for this same room and experience during the height of ski season.

We have enjoyed coming here since it opened. It is a luxurious resort, yet cozy and welcoming. I was there this week for three nights and loved every moment. I was warmly greeted by CJ, one of the front desk managers. He found the perfect room with mountain views for this stay. Waking up to Aspen Mountain bright with fall colors was a delight! The room and huge bath were both elegant. The food here is superb and the pool a delight to sit by or swim in. Leslie, the hostess in the bar cafe was friendly and kind. Blaine, the restaurant manager made me feel right at home. Service was tops! I needed some assistance from the Concierge and Whit Breeden was most helpful. They even have a Hotel Bernese Mountain Dog that goes around to make you feel at home in the mountains. The staff and service are excellent here. It is a friendly place to enjoy a vacation in a beautiful mountain resort. Summer, winter or fall, we have loved our visits here!

We’re just back from a fall tour of Colorado that included a stay at this wonderful hotel. We were not disappointed at all that we chose the St. Regis over the other luxury options available in Aspen. The location is terrific at the base of Ajax Mountain and convenient to all the restaurants and shops. The service was top notch. I just read some of the recent reviews and we did not have those issues. We found the front desk staff to be very friendly and accommodating, with a special shout out to Aiden! We did not eat at the hotel as we have some favorite places in Aspen but I did enjoy the wonderful hot, complimentary coffee every morning. The evening turndown with the bottle of water for each of us and a chocolate was a very nice touch. We were sad to leave after experiencing such a nice stay at this hotel.

Let me start by saying my wife and I love this hotel. We stayed here last year for our 2 year wedding anniversary and our stay was pretty much flawless. We loved it so much that we decided to come for our 3 year anniversary. Unfortunately, our stay was not nearly the same... The good - This hotel has a very special sense of place. And part of that is the people. The concierge last year was fantastic. And they are somehow even more excellent this year. KELLY IS A GEM. I emailed her with a bunch of questions and she did not hesitate to provide her insight and answer all of my questions promptly. She is professional, warm and inviting, and down to earth. She really goes the extra mile to ensure guests are having the vacation they are hoping for. She saw that my wife had a rough day (work interrupted her vacation) and she sent a small gift to cheer her up. The gift was also from Stephanie at the concierge, who is also very friendly and excellent. They help make the St. Regis Aspen the special place it is. I also want to mention Valerie at the Spa who is so kind and helped kick off our anniversary and make it special - she is also great. Lastly, the hotel courtyard is one of the most beautiful places in Aspen. We love sitting by the fire pits with a cocktail. And the pool / hot tub area is the best in Aspen in our opinion, bar none. The bad: I normally like to leave only positive reviews, but our stay truly did not meet our expectations. It was just a series of one problem after another. And no one seemed to actually care (despite the fact we were spending 8 nights, and thousands of dollars, there). The front desk - Aiden, CJ, Katherine, Fiona - tried to remedy certain issues, which we appreciated. But the number of issues and problems that arose is not appropriate for a St. Regis, especially not at the high rates we paid to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived for our anniversary and got to our room. No recognition of our special occasion, no note. Also, the room was not the one we requested (we requested the same or similar room we had last year, a deluxe room with a side view of the mountain). It was on the total wrong side the hotel, VERY dark with the view overlooking the hotel across the street. Katherine helped us get to the room we requested (perhaps because I am a Bonvoy Gold Member, Platinum next year). She told us the staff would just transfer our bags and we could come back after lunch to the right room. Great. However, when they moved us, my wife noticed her coat was missing. This is a problem for obvious reasons, but also because it was cold out and we needed to make our dinner reservation! We called down and we were told there was no coat left behind. They even told us the maid/bell staff double checked... We searched our stuff, no coat. They didn’t seem to care or believe us. Confused and without any additional resources, we started to make our way back to the airport in the unlikely scenario we somehow left it there.. Thank god my wife was confident enough she didn’t leave it there. She insisted a third time that they carefully check, and finally Aiden went himself into our initial room and sure enough, it was hanging there in the closet…! The staff never moved it with the rest of our luggage and apparently didn’t actually check. Now, that’s pretty bad for a St. Regis, but what’s worse.. they’ve done this to us twice now! At the time of writing this review, they moved us into a room upgrade a few hours ago to make up for many more small missteps we have encountered in our stay (waiting over an hour for a bucket of ice in the morning (almost missed our bus to maroon bells), ordering a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary, being told they’d send one up complimentary and then never sending it (!!?!), the “free” coffee in the lobby being totally empty at 9 am and then charging us $8 for black coffee at breakfast (seriously!?), no turn down service one day for no apparent reason other than our room was accidentally skipped, and there are a few more but the point is we felt totally ignored and undervalued, probably because there was a wedding and corporate event that weekend). When we got to the new room this evening, my wife’s black vest was missing. Despite knowing she left it sitting next to our bags, she still checked all of our luggage thoroughly in abundance of caution. The St. Regis claims everything was moved, but here we are, and still no vest. Oh and we couldn’t call down to inquire, because both phones in the new upgraded room were completely inoperative. Any one of these missteps would have been disregarded or brushed off by us as a one-off hiccup, but put together, day after day during our stay, made our time here tiring, stressful, frustrating and totally disappointing and upsetting. Needless to say, this entire experience has left a really sour taste in our mouths at an otherwise very special place. I don’t know if we will ever be coming back to the St. Regis Aspen, but if we do come back, it certainly won’t be to celebrate our anniversary.
