Detailed Reviews
What a wonderful surprise. We stayed one night in an ocean front king suite with a small child. It was last minute, and we were so impressed with ease of check-in, an electric vehicle charger, proximity to the beach, room quality, and the friendliness of the front desk staff. We are big travelers, and we appreciate the small touches that make a big difference, like: snack basket, bottle of wine, and handwritten welcome letter. It is right across from the beach, within steps of dozens of bars and restaurants--you can't beat the location and price. The rooms were tastefully decorated and clean. We got lucky with our neighbors. You are VERY close, but ours were quiet and respectful. We will definitely be back and next time we will try to get a room on the 2nd floor to make sure we don't hear any foot traffic above.

+1
The moment we walked in our room (room 120) we all said, WOW!
As you walk in there's a plush velvet sofa, chair, floor lamps, small sink, refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee machine and flat screen tv! The windows are something I've never seen before in a hotel. They are quite lovely actually. They have plantation shutters. A perfect set up if you ask me. There's a thick straw area rug.
The bathroom has double sinks, in the shower they have the shampoo/conditioner/soap dispenser. Hair dryer and plenty, plenty towels!
The closet is very ample with 2 large sliding mirror doors, 2 shower terry robes (the heavy luxurious ones), iron, 2 folding luggage racks, extra blankets and pillows!
There's a separate door that leads to the main bedroom. Both Queen beds were super comfortable (really comfortable!) 4 pillows on each bed. The carpet covers the entire room, let me tell you it's so soft and plush!
The nightstand has a phone and alarm clock with 2 USB ports to charge 2 devices at once.
There's a round table in the corner with 2 chairs. There's a chair next to the flat screen as well.
There's a charming patio that faces the pool and you can somewhat see the ocean. It does have lots of plants and flowers. So it's somewhat secluded (I like the privacy feel) it's just far enough and private enough where you don't feel watched. This room faces the pool. The patio has 2 chairs and round tables. We grabbed pizza the 1st night and ate al fresco. There's a wall light in the patio it's not the brightest. Also, the patio wall can be used as additional seating if needed (it's at about above knee height). The patio has top to bottom sliding plantation shutters. There are no curtains on the windows.... not to worry the shutters did a great job on keeping the sunlight out.
Parking: The property has charging stations for electric cars! The parking is under a roof on street level. Plenty rolling luggage caddy's. Elevator with clear signs directing you to your room number. A wheelchair can easily navigate through the property from the room to the main floor and out to the Main Street.
You're walking distance to the pier, kids play/climb area with swings. Lots of restaurants, wine tasting, shops, one store in particular is just adorable called HULA HUT. They are a 1 stop shop! Ice cream, fudge, coffee, breakfast meals, Avila Beach shirts, handmade gifts, candles you name it the list goes on and on!
Hope this review has helped! It's a charming hotel, you will love it !

The hotel property is impeccable, rooms have a nice living room area with a kitchenette and sofa bed—and the main bedroom area closes off from the the rest of the room! If you have young kiddos you know how awesome that it! My husband slept in the main room with the baby in a pack-n-play and I slept with my daughter on the sofa bed. Since the door is right by the sofa bed we weren’t comfortable having her sleep alone (she’s three). It all worked out great.
COVID has very little impact on our stay.
Staff was very friendly.
Only complaint is the hallway lights are really bright and the plantation shutters don’t keep the light our very well. I had a blackout curtain with me and I put it to use.

Location is great and so is the pool. The rooms are quite expensive ( unless I am missing the discounts) and minimal service. For an average of over 400 a day you get little room cleaning with minimal done when you get it.. They had a grab and go breakfast when we got there and neglected to tell anyone that full breakfast was going to be started mid week. The survey on the hotel asks if we felt we were treated special . No way. The rooms are dark and there is no storage for items except for the floor. The big draw is the pool if you have kids. With the view of the ocean its great! Looking to book ahead I saw the prices were 50% higher for next year.!! That may knock us out of the running !

Your stay experience is of the utmost importance to us and therefore I apologize that it did not echo the perfection we desired for you. We are abiding by local regulations as well as our management guidelines. We are in agreement with our guests who have overwhelmingly stated their preference to not have hotel staff entering their rooms during the pandemic unless specifically requested. And as you are also aware, drought is a recognized California problem, and the hospitality industry is under increasing pressure to reduce water consumption. To help reduce water usage, we are only providing housekeeping cleaning service every other day. Our team strives to be friendly, welcoming, and always eager to serve and delight our guests, and as such all requests are promptly fulfilled. We truly appreciate the feedback that you have provided and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!

My husband and I just spent 3 days at Avila Lighthouse Suites for the first time. We were completely satisfied with the experience. the location is idyllic, being a stone's throw from the beach and calm ocean for swimming and boating. The property is very well maintained and the rooms are clean, if a little dated. Still, the rooms are spacious and provide the basics, including two TVs in separate
areas, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. We were in an ocean view suite with a balcony that looked out on the beach and ocean, which could be mesmerizing. I fell asleep to the sound of gentle ocean waves. There were lots of families, but it was very quiet at night. the staff are unfailingly friendly and very well informed on activities in the area and neighboring communities. There is a lovely adjacent park and places to walk along the ocean.. The grab-and-go breakfast was more than sufficient, if not ideal, under present circumstances. Many people order take-out and bring it back to the property, where there are nice outdoor covered seating areas surrounding the pool. Avila Lighthouse Suites is a place we will definitely return to for a respite.

great location and really enjoyed with our 1 year old. I recommend book way in advance to avoid paying high price. It was really convenient that our room had a small fridge/microwave and they even offered a pack and play for crib. Few downsides... No blackout shades means babies will wake up early, our mattress seemed old and was very uncomfortable, pretty expensive compared to other options. Other than that, location is perfect, great for families.

Pros: location
Cons: dirty sheets upon check-in that were promptly changed upon request. Did not expect dirty sheets from a previous guest for paying $500 a night.
Breakfast - I understand restrictions in light of Covid 19. However, breakfast was very limited and not acceptable if the same room rate is charged. The hotel could easily add at least some pancakes, eggs and yogurt.

It has been about 5 years since we last came here. Stayed over Labor Day weekend. Everything was great. Can't wait to come back again.
Only suggestion is that since housekeeping is not scheduled for shorter stays, it would be great if the room had a light duty upright vacuum in the closet or something. When we stayed in another beach front hotel, they had one and it was great to vacuum up all the sand the kids brought in. I know I could have requested housekeeping, but a quick vacuum I can handle. The housekeeping staff work hard enough as it is.

Heater broke our first night and remained out our entire stay. Front desk staff blamed s for not knowing how to program it. Our infant child had to sleep in the cold. Repair workers failed twice to fix it. The space heater gave off a foul odor. Our room keys never opened the pool gates or external gates despite repeated recoding and request for assistance. Our room keys also had to be re-programmed for our door and the lady at the front desk blamed us for the problem.
Customer service on par with a 2-star budget hotel. Very disappointed.

Just pick up the phone and call them. Great staff can answer all of your questions.
They offer two queen beds and the sofa is also a pull out queen. As far as I know they do not offer double beds.
I think they are doing just basic cleaning. Our sheets and comforter were dirty when we checked in.
No, unfortunately. We love our dogs too,but had to leave them home.
The only meal they offered was a limited do it yourself breakfast. There are many boardwalk eating options, however
