The Avalon is our go-to hotel in Avalon. People are just so nice and friendly. Owners know "everything" about Catalina and are happy to share tidbits. Rooms are quite nice with balconies that overlook the harbor.Excellent continental breakfast in the courtyard. The only recommendation is that they add an umbrella or 2 for shade on the rooftop patio as the ice in your cocktail melts too fast.

Truly an elegant place to really escape and still walk to shops and restaurants, just a block to downtown. Ready to soak in the sunshine and sea breeze? This is your place! Fabulous, surround rooftop deck. Private room balconies with water views. Lush garden courtyard patio with tropical palms and a bubbling pond with koi fish. A fire pit warms you at the complimentary morning breakfast and evenings of wine pours. Impeccable accommodations and hospitality. Innkeeper Shane was incredibly kind and helpful with tips on restaurants, hiking, anything Catalina. Our March package ahead of spring break included ferry tickets on the Catalina Express. Highly recommend it all.

Thanks Kate for taking the time to leave such a helpful review that highlights so many features that makes The Avalon Hotel a favorite of Catalina Island visitors. The package you mentioned ended March 25 but have replaced it with "Book 3 nights and get 2 Ferry Tickets" promotion until Memorial Day Weekend. We will feature the Best of Winter, 2 Night Mid-week Ferry Ticket Package again next November-March. Thanks also for your kind words about myself and our entire knowledgeable staff of innkeepers who help all of our guests with a personal touch, unique to our comfy, 15 room bed and breakfast. Hope you return soon.

The hotel is quaint and in a perfect location. We were in room 306 which had a small balcony with a wet bar and fridge. There was also a fridge in the room, a small desk and a nice bathroom. The room is small but comfortable nonetheless. The continental breakfast is a nice touch. The staff is professional and kind. The con is that there is no elevator so carrying luggage up 3 flights wasn’t a blast. 😜

The Pavilion is a top notch experience from start to finish! From the moment you walk in the door they treat you like royalty. The atmosphere, amenities, staff and everything else are incredible. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you are on the fence about booking don't think twice you won't regret it!

The Avalon is an older hotel but so clean, peaceful, and lovely staff!! Although there is not an elevator, and does require steps leading to office, and stairs to rooms on the upper two floors, it is a delightful "Unique Inn" and very relaxing. It is only a few steps from the Main Street of shops, beach, and restaurants!

The Avalon Hotel is a charming property. It's small, only 15 rooms. Our room was lovely. It had a king bed, ceiling fan, large flat-screen TV and everything you expect from a good-quality hotel (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, safe for valuables, a generous collection of bath amenities, sweets on the nightstand, and so forth). We had a Garden View room, which is their least-expensive scenic option, and the view was still great. The place was tidy and quiet, yet it was only about 200 feet from the town's main street. Comp breakfast was outside in the garden from 7a to 10a, and it was a nice mix of bagels, muffins, jams, cereals, yogurts and such. Small touches like linen napkins make the experience even more luxurious. And you can always take your breakfast up to the roof and enjoy a full panorama of the town and the cove. Check in and check out were fast. Booking was super-easy. The hotel website functions well, and they have a list of every room available so you can book a favorite room. They’ll store your bags on the day you leave the island so you don’t have to drag bags around if your boat leaves late. The hotel has tea and coffee 24-7 in the lobby. Note that the hotel doesn’t have an elevator so rooms are accessible only via stairs. Also, there is nobody at the front desk late night (we came back from our adventures around 11p). You use the key-card for your room to open the front door to the hotel. All rooms are non-smoking (which we appreciated). This place is awesome! We plan to return.

The hotel is lovely. From the saltwater taffy and fresh fruit at check in to the breakfast out on the patio. The rooms were nicely furnished and the bed extremely comfortable. There’s a charming roof top deck for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. They offer a selection of beer and wine for purchase that was perfect when you had the urge to sit and relax. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Catalina and I would happily stay here again on my next visit.

I cannot say enough good things about this very special hotel. Every detail has been thought of by the wonderful owners. Our room was lovely and the view spectacular, especially as the colors of the light changed during sunset. We enjoyed the quiet courtyard and the roof top. The owners Rock and Kathleen, and the entire staff were so nice and helpful. A special shout out to Shane for helping me pick out the perfect room! Our favorite details were the bath products which included a fun bath bomb, the set in shelf by the side of the bed, and the wine glass set up. But the best were the flowers put in our room for Valentine’s Day!
