Very helpful front desk crew...excellent location close to all sorts of activities and attractions...it was very pleasant and joyful to hava a couple days with our family in Santa Catalina island in January at Hotel Hermosa...if you have kids, it is really great to access all restaurants and stores in a few steps and minutes....thank you for all !
This is a typical Avalon hotel built in 1800's. It's a bit old but very clean. Great staff, who go out of the way to make your stay wonderful. My room had the most wonderful night time view of the town from my bed, I loved it. Nice coffee and morning pastries in the morning. All in all a great spot.
We brought our dog so not that many choices to begin with. We got a room that was supposed to have some updates done since pandemic per associates. The room had a very strong lemon/citrus-themed cleaning agent smell that would not go away. It was raining and we also did not see opening the window for venting as an option to get rid of the smell. Floor did not look clean. Toilet was leaking the whole time. We ended up shortening our visit to just 1 night, partly due to the room, and partly due to the weather. Associates are friendly, but we probably will skip this hotel next time.
I usually stay at the Mac Rae hotel due to it being right at the beach line however it was fully booked so I thought I’d try something new which was the best decision I made. Everything was perfect if not better than where I used to stay!! I highly recommend you stay here. Our breaker had went out because of both heaters running and in a couple minutes they had fixed it and we were back to being warm ! I did leave my hydro flask there on accident but besides that the trip was amazing !
Me and my fiancè went to Catalina for an anniversary trip. Rachel was amazing. Left us bottles of wine in the room and a very cute box of goodies. She even carried one of our bags to the top of the some odd 70 stairs. :) I was slightly disappointed in some minor things, but overall we had a blast! The room was smaller than I thought, but functional. The view was stunning. It was close to everything, I mean most are on the island. The main thing was no towel rack in the bathroom, no dresser or clothing storage. Some guy named Kevin was logged into his Netflix, which we appreciated and created a profile. If he’s reading this De-Chimp says hi! They stored our bags for free while we spent our last day on the island and even took our fridge goodies and stored them for us. It was a blast. Would stay again, hopefully next time there is a towel rack. …
When checking in, our assigned room was not cleaned up from the previous client, so we were offered the choice of waiting for it to be cleaned or taking an alternate room. We chose to take an alternate room which turned out to be very small with minimum furniture. The queen bed was positioned against the wall. We moved it out about one foot and used one of the two barstools as a second nightstand. The barstools were the only "chairs" in the room. The only other "table' surface was a very high bar counter between the kitchen and studio room.
I have been trying to contact the hotel for a week about canceling or changing my reservation, since I tested positive for COVID and am unable to travel and unwilling to risk infecting others. However, the hotel has been absolutely unresponsive-- I have been emailing, calling, and even messaged them on Facebook to try and resolve this, but have not gotten any response. And now it is too late to cancel or change the reservation per their policy. That seems suspect. If you are not 100% sure about your trip, I do not recommend booking here.
We stayed there for 3 days . When we’re checking out , we asked for a printed receipt of our entire stay. The receptionist ( Jasmine ) said that she cannot print the receipt because it was already sent to our email when we booked earlier. The following day , we checked our credit card bill and found out that we were charged extra $100 . I called her and asked why we’re charged $100 . She said we destroyed 2 towels . I told her that the 2 towels were not destroyed but was just soaking wet because the shower curtain was 2 inches short from the shower floor . There was no other option but to use the towels to wipe the wet floor as we don’t want to slip and get into an accident. So we did complain to the hotel manager but the issues felt on deaf ear. No one wrote us or contacted us to settle the issue . I even found out that the hotel towels were only 50 cents each at Costco because it was the very cheap kind ( automobile dry towels) I felt that the Hermosa Hotel was doing this dirty tactic so they can charge us . I believe we’re not the only ones who experienced these dirty tactics . They set up very strict rules to follow so that one false move and you will be charge ! I believe they resorted to this kind of modus operandi because they are trying to compensate for the lost revenue during the last 2 years of pandemic by overcharging their guests. My advice, go book in another hotel because it will just ruin your vacation .…
Great location, if rooms were given as much attention as lobby I’d be writing a better review. Staff responsive but I should not have had to ask for my room to be cleaned. Hopefully others don’t have to.
If your looking for comfortable stay, this is the place for you. Staff was great! Area was perfect, what we loved was it had no phones in room which is what we needed. Their older rooms so don’t expect high end, this is what makes it great
