We picked the Hermosa Hotel because it has a great location and is not nearly as expensive as most. It is less than half a block from the main drag, quite close to the Metropole Marketplace. The staff at the desk were friendly and helpful. It would be nice if the room floors were clean. And don't expect to find a chair in the room. However, this would not stop us from staying there again.
This hotel isn't the most updated and does not have all of the modern amenities, BUT it is charming, the location is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable for the stay you're getting. It still has a lot of the same features as it did when it was built, which comes with it's own inconvenience but also interest. I've stayed here multiple times. It's definitely better for couples as they openly discourage partying or noisy evenings. I've only ever stayed in the bungalows, but you do need to double check that you're not getting a room with a shared bathroom if that matters to you.
The room was small but cute. The air conditioner was loud so open a window. As for as the bathroom towels or lack there of..... No face or hand towels and the bath towel was small , thin and felt like fine sand paper. When I checked in, the person at the front desk was pleasant and helpful and very nice.
I['ve stayed at the Hermosa Hotel often over the years, and I have to say, it is still one of my favorite places on the island! If you're looking for a place to stay that's close to town, doesn't require you to walk uphill, and won't break the bank, then this is the place for you! The staff is always kind and helpful. That being said, I do wish that I could walk around the hotel barefoot without my feet instantly becoming incredibly dirty. The new paint looks great, but a quick mop or speeping of the floors would be lovely (and a double check for trash... both my room and a friend's still had trash on the floor when we checked in). Now, in all fairness, none of this will discourage me from staying here again. The Hermosa is a fantastic little place, and I will always appreciate a cheap hotel for what it is: a place to rest my head at the end of the day!…
Very small cottage room with a smaller bathroom -- I had to maneuver my size 13 feet to close the bathroom door. No closet - well there were 6 hangers on a hook on the bathroom door. It has a small refrigerator, microwave and modern tv. The queen sized bed took up most of the room but THAT was the most comfortably luxurious piece in the room. The cottages are old but you wouldn't know it except by its 1890's seaport style as the plumbing, paint, porcelain and shower fixtures all look new and very very clean. I would stay again as the people --especially Matt -- were super congenial. The price is good for the Island.
