The hotel not bad location close to shopping and the beach , 2 minutes walking to vons wich is big plus , room is realllly big with nice amenities. The room was dirty when we entered has many Antes we had to leave the room to spray anti - ant . The room is old and the furniture are old . The BIG problem was its NOT suitable for a senior i have my dad with me he was suffering, to reach to the room we have to go many stairs and those only way to reach the room (attached picture for the stairs) Also they said the room is a sea view actually the view was super far ( attached picture for the view too) . The room had a corridor for all guests that was the one with the view Nd another terrace inside the room for the back of few houses.
I saw a deal on my Facebook and called for a four day stay. WOW, I had an amazing time for a reasonable price. Staff was so nice and helpful. Hotel was so cute. Island was so much fun. Very close to Vons and very close to restaurants. I can't wait to stay again. See you in September!! You can see my room in this picture. Downstairs on the right. Thank you for a very well deserved vacation.
It was a good value for the $$ and just a few blocks to Town and the beach. We had the top floor “suite” with a fabulous 180° view, & kitchenette w/stove, fridge, microwave, coffee.creamer/sugar It was old, but clean, comfortable, and an easy walk to town. After we checked in, the office manager carried our bags up the stairs to our room near the top of the property. From there, it was only 8-10 steps out the door of our room up to an exit on the backside of the property (Metropol Ave) for an easy walk to and from town. The property is old, but clean & comfortable with kitchen & our private balcony overlooking the ocean & town. Would stay again! However, FYI, if you are unable or unwilling to climb stairs, there were 50-55 stairs from where the taxi dropped us off and up to the “penthouse”.…
Stayed 9/21 & 9/22 cottage #5. Yes this hotel is very old but kept impeccably clean. Friendly staff, close to Von's market, very quiet at night and beautiful outdoor environment. Can't wait for our return visit.
We were so happy with our stay here. The cottages are so cute and we were delighted with our mini kitchen with dishes, silverware, and pans for cooking. The bed was comfortable and the WiFi worked great. The door handles are a little wobbly but we didn't care about that. This is right around the corner from Vons so we just ate breakfast in our room each day with the food we bought from Vons.
The week of my reservation, CA government prohibited travel due to rising COVID cases. The hotel was unhelpful in rescheduling my reservation and only allowed cancellation which required forfeiture of one night's room fee. Visitor beware. Use a friendlier hotel with better understanding of public health policy.
La Paloma Las Flores is a hidden jewel on the beautiful Catalina Island. Located a couple of blocks from the strand, the hotel is an easy ten minute stroll from the ferry landing. This hotel has a funky, old school charm with beautiful garden views and a feeling of privacy. Not recommended for those with ambulatory disabilities as the rooms are accessed by steep, external stairs. A cozy, well appointed room was supplied with the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. This is not a polished, sterile inn but rather an old school row of LA bungalows built into the hill. Very friendly staff. Close to groceries, restaurants and shops. Pets are not allowed.
We were looking for an affordable hotel with great views, which is not easy in Catalina. La Paloma is it! The place isn’t fancy, but it’s super cute and clean. It has a big pergola within the walkway and beautiful plants along it. We stayed in room #9, which has great views plus a kitchenette. Again, remember it’s a simple room with older furnishings (it’s an economical choice), but it’s clean. The hotel has many stair steps to climb due to its unique layout, so be ready to carry your bags a bit or ask for a street level room. The staff is super friendly and lets you store bags in their office.
This was a last minute COVID-19 trip in hopes of making our summer a bit better. Booked a few days before and it went smoother than expected. We were greeted by super nice family and beautiful vines and flowers. The hotel room met basic needs and just enough room. Super great management and the location is fantastic. There's a Vons maybe 1-2 min walk from it!!! It's a great hotel for a budget trip!
We were trying to book while Covid broke out and we had to change reservations several times but they were very accommodating and understanding the whole way through. Upon arrival, I loved the decor and setting of the cottages. They came with everything we needed and more: full stove and oven, all necessary cooking dishes and utensils, heater, even offered complementary face masks in the room. Management was also very understanding to allow a late check out and didn't dime and nickel us for every scenario. They were so hospitable and that goes real far in my books. I will definitely be booking here again when I return to the island.
