There is nothing like the staying at The Old Turner Inn. You'll feel connected to the Island by being hosted by a family that has had roots here since 1878. Located in the heart of Avalon, just one short block from the waterfront, beaches, shops & restaurants, this immaculately kept Cape Cod structure reveals a balance of comfort and elegance to its guests. Sunny sitting porches, in-room fireplaces, private bathrooms, antiques, gallery quality artwork of Catalina scenes, historic family photos, and a grand piano combined with our full, scrumptious hot breakfast and friendly staff... Together, they set the mood for a unique, romantic and relaxing Island getaway.

We have stayed at the Old Turner Inn multiple times over the last 2 decades and have never been disappointed. Whether Christa or Kathleen was at the helm, the welcome was always warm, the food spectacular, and the company engaging. As other historic establishments have been turned into over-priced "boutiques" stripped of their charm (looking at you, Zane Grey Pueblo!), the Old Turner Inn has remained a place that feels like home. It's by far the best hotel (and the best value) in Avalon.

I was checking reviews to find a nice hotel for a special anniversary trip to Catalina Island (we lived and were married here 40 years ago) that wouldn't be too expensive and The Old Turner Inn was a wonderful find! Our three- day stay was extremely enjoyable. Food served at the morning breakfasts and the light appetizers at 5:00 varied every day, with a choice of red or white wine being a nice surprise. The small carafe of sherry in our room each afternoon was also added a touch of sophistication. We were a little nervous about how we would enjoy our first stay in a Bed & Breakfast, thinking we might like to keep to ourselves, but we thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the other guests who arrived and departed during our stay. Visiting with the owner and hearing stories of his family's life on the island is something we enjoyed and probably would not have had at a regular hotel. The Old Turner Inn is for sale and I have no doubt the current owners will maintain the level of service and attention to detail that has earned them and "Excellent" rating on TripAdvisor. My sincere hope is that new owners will be found to carry on the legacy so we can return here on future visits to the island.

The Old Turner Inn really does feel like home. We have stayed many time over the last 25 years and just love it. Roger and Kathleen are great hosts and their family has many generations of history on the island that they are willing to share. Their breakfasts are great and so filling that we normally skip lunch. We look forward to our next visit.

Our preferred lodging is typically bed and breakfasts. The Old Turner Inn did not disappoint and was right there with some of the nicest places we have stayed. I had a few questions when I made our reservation and Kathleen was very helpful. I could sense her sincerity and commitment to assist us with that one phone call. She sent written information that include information about Avalon, how to access things to do and restaurant information. The inn is located 800 yds from the ferry terminal (an easy 8 minute walk) and is away from the hustle and noise of the area on the water. It’s well located within easy walking distance from any place we wanted to go. Kathleen offered to drive us in her golf cart but it wasn’t necessary. The Inn is filled with history and pictures of Kathleen’s family are evident in the sitting room. The inn was immaculately clean and our room very comfortable. Appetizers were served each night. In addition to the perfect location and excellent hostess, the breakfast was a highlight and a great start to a full day of exploring Catalina.

Kathleen is a welcoming hostess who runs a lovely B & B. The style is Victorian but it has full amenities and a great location. Her breakfasts are delicious and ample. Fresh fruit, home cooked dishes and good coffee with a nice tea selection. There is a lovely appetizer hour in the later afternoon with a choice of wines. The rooms are cleaned each day. Very pleased and will return again.

My wife & I spent 1 night here celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. Had a wonderful time. Very nice & cozy BnB. Our host was wonderful. The location was fantastic; easy walking distance to everything. Room was very comfortable. Enjoyed the port wine in our room! Breakfast was great. Even made it back for wine & snacks in the evening before heading out to dinner. Host recommended a great scuba dive shop. Overall a great experience. Thank you for making our 2nd anniversary so special!

I took my wife on a surprise trip to Catalina island for her 50th birthday, neither of us had ever been to Catalina before so I spent 3 months prior planning the whole trip. Knowing that my wife loves B&B's the quest started with that. gotta have a place to stay right? This was the first place I found it was a stand out location for me. Once I spoke with Kathleen, I looked no further and booked The Old Turner Inn. Kathleen not only booked us a room in her family's B&B she selflessly helped me to plan a lot of other cool things to do for the surprise birthday in Catalina! We got the King Suite for this event and it was way worth it for the week on the island, The room was amazing and we had a great time. the bed was very comfortable the room was bright and airy and the shower was hot. Carmen the housekeeper was also great, the room was always clean and made up when we came back from our adventures. They definitely did not disappoint! The daily breakfast and afternoon wine and snacks was a very nice touch as was the little carafe of Sherry in each room....nice touch guys! During the breakfast and evening snacks, Kathleen would tell us a lot of the rich history of Catalina island her family has been there since before the Wrigley family. super cool way to make the trip more fun. We will definitely be going back as we fell in love with the Island, the people and the Inn. We will be staying at the Old Turner Inn when ever we go back, which will be often!

We spent two nights at The Old Turner Inn during our visit to Catalina in May. We really enjoyed it. We stayed in the Queen Suite, which was comfortable and spacious. Breakfasts were excellent. And light appetizers in the late afternoon hit the spot and provided an additional opportunity to converse with the other guests. The information about the inn that's on its web site doesn't mention that the Inn is run by Kathleen Hill Carlisle and her brother Roger Hill nor that their parents had purchased it about 30 years ago and ran it for many years. Roger was there during our visit, and we enjoyed chatting with him about his family and its history on the island. While we did not meet Kathleen, she provided a lot of very useful information about Catalina (what to do, where to eat, etc.) when we made our reservation. While the Inn is hardly inexpensive, we considered what we paid as money very well spent.

So glad you chose to stay with us - and thank you for the wonderful review. Roger does a great job, and I am sorry that I didn't get to meet you. That's fun about the family history - maybe we will add that to our website, "Over 100 years on the Island!" Kathleen

A lovely B&B with a great location. It is located just 1-1/2 blocks from the harbor and within a fairly easy walk from the ferry terminal. Kathleen, the owner and host, could not have been more pleasant and accomodating. We stayed in the Queen Suite so we had a seating area with enabled us to have cocktails with friends who were attending the same wedding as us. The other guests at the Inn were also very nice.

We have been staying here for years now. We have stayed in every room except the one downstairs room. Each one is comfortable and different. This trip we stayed in the Seashell room. Very clean, large king bed (very comfortable), tub bath with a shower head. We stayed three nights and each morning Kathleen was there to greet us with breakfast. Baked eggs, omelet, bread pudding, fruit, pastries, orange juice. Better than home! And the homemake granola. Wonderful, better than home. Coffee was ready about 6:45 each morning. They now have new double paned windows on all windows. This cuts down the noise level tremendously. At times in the past, it could get noisy in the King and Queen suites. No more. We will be back every time we come to Catalina. Highly recommend.
