At a charity event for the Garden Club of Calaveras we were hosted by the Cooper House owners Bill and Janet. They provided us with a insightful tour, history of the
Cooper House, and a wonderful dinner paired from wines from the Ironstone Winery. Candy...More
My fiance and I really enjoyed Cooper House. Janet makes a 5 star breakfast and the beds and complimentary wine are excellent too.
The weekend we stayed was crazy hot and the air conditioning and fan in the Chardonay room worked great.

Take a drive up to Calaveras Big Trees. Back in the 1800's, Big Trees was one of the Great Wonders of The World and they are truly magnificent. Check out the Angels Camp Museum, and really get a taste of the California Gold Rush. Definitely visit the town of Murphys. Its a historical gold rush town with great shopping, excellent food and 22 wine tasting rooms right on main street within a 1 mile stretch! And for your wife's birthday dinner I recommend Grounds in Murphys or V Bistro at The Victorian Inn. Excellent food and great ambiance. Make a reservation and Enjoy!
