I could tell this place has a good history and reputation. We enjoyed our stay, found it clean, and ideally located. There were pecan trees with fallen pecans all over the grounds. We slept soundly after being on the road for three days.
Room was clean and beds are comfortable. Most of the amenities were closed due to COVID-19 but my kids still had fun. Love that each room downstairs has a sliding glass door to an outside patio area! ...definitely recommend Gaia to anyone wanting to stay in Shasta County!
We've been going to Gaia since the very beginning. We loved it. Rooms were nice and it felt relaxing. On this visit rooms were not real maintained. Chipped paint, dirty wall art, broken furniture and really filthy phones. We went into the first room and it was dirty and broken down. They claim we got an upgraded lagoon view room. But we couldn't see the lagoon at all. This room at least didn't have broken down furniture. Gaia charges you a $100 deposit but they give you a room that looks like its been through hell. I wish we could get back to the old days when it was nice.
We have been coming here for years. They haven’t put a dime into renovations in a decade. Fridge was completely frozen and needs defrosted, toilet seat was loose. The shampoo dispensers were cool in 2008 but now they are just old and gross and often empty. Yuck!
I had an amazing experience here! We stopped here one night during our relocation process. Matt in the restaurant/bar had such amazing customer service. My very long, busy, stressful day was completely turned around! He helped lighten my mood and just relax. The front desk attendant (I think her name was Lizzie?), was so very helpful and genuine. She was so helpful and sweet, none of it was forced. The grounds are gorgeous. The pool, while small, was a great way for my kids to burn off some energy. The water was a nice temperature too. The reason for 4 stars was our experience the next morning and the state of some facilities. When we called in the morning to order breakfast we were told 15 minutes and they would call when it was ready. 45 minutes later we hadn’t heard anything. I finally just walked down to see what was going on because no one would answer the phone. Robin greeted me, but every time I said anything she sighed and gave off the feeling that she was very overwhelmed. At one point she even cussed in front of guests while at the register! Regarding facilities the place seems to be slightly neglected. The chairs in the lobby are dirty at the bases. The sink in my room had a hairline crack from the drain to the edge. Overall though the grounds are just beautiful. The koi pond is a beautiful touch! I look forward to returning and experiencing the spa!…
