I recently stayed here after a 3 year absence. I have always given good reviews for this motel. Not any longer. I was surprised at how tired this property is. It is also dingy. My room had many large stains on the carpet. The bathroom sink is "peeling". I have not seen that before. Our patio had a partial view of the parking lot. There was trash on the ground. Overall, I felt like the owners are milking this property and not reinvesting in improvements or even day to day maintenance. On top of that the rates are quite high. The Woodside Grill is good. We had a decent dinner and a couple of excellent cocktails served by Mike the bartender.
Beautiful hotel, perfectly situated off the freeway and surrounded in nature. We had a great stay. The front desk lady was fantastic, she was very polite. Due to covid, house keeping doesn't come in the room to get used towels or drop off clean towels personally I didn't mind that. My family always wipes down our hotel rooms as soon as we check in, even more so since covid started. While most of the room seemed clean, the room phone was not and the air conditioner hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. They really need to lift the cover and vacuum, wipe down and change the air filter. We did the best we could cleaning ours. I would give it a 5 stars if the air conditioning unit was clean and regardless I would still recommend to a friend and I will stay again next time I come to Anderson, its just that nice of a hotel.…
The room was nice and clean, it didn’t smell old; like smoke, or like other hotels. The restroom had clean shower curtains, they have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash and lotion dispensers, and not the trial size stuff you get at other hotels. The room I stayed in looked updated. The area is clean, calm and has security at night. I really liked the outlay of the hotel in general. I totally recommend this place!
We used to stay here frequently 10+ years ago. This week we had business in Redding and opted to stay here. We are sorry we did. We stayed in room 103. When we arrived the refrigerator was unplugged, so with some effort I pulled the entire cabinet away from the wall to plug it back in. There were nasty stains on the filthy fabric headboard over the bed (picture posted). Two light bulbs were completely out (picture posted if a light out in the bathroom - it was dark). A third lamp had a broken housing for the lightbulb and it dangled from a loose wire. The toilet ran continuously. The bathroom fan would not vent, leading me to leave the bathroom door open while showering. The shower curtain was covered in mold (picture posted) The pond that used to be pristine with two beautiful swans is now a green cesspool. No swans. I was surprised while standing outside the room to have a large garbage filled bag drop from the second floor to within two feet of me. It was a housekeeper cleaning upstairs who didn’t bother to check if people were below before dropping garbage. As posted previously, they only provide two flimsy bath towels. I walked to the front office yo procure a couple more. They didn’t have them and required us to edit an hour for the maintenance guy to bring them. Believe me. We used to love this place. I’ve recommended the Gaia to friends traveling through Northern California. Now, I’m embarrassed I did. This hotel has gone down the poop. The management and staff are not taking care of it or the customers. We will not stay here again. Find better accommodations!…
The grounds are nice and I like the room, except for the bed. I didn't get much sleep it was very uncomfortable. But its a safe and quite place and we stayed in a handicap room with our two small dogs. It cost $50 extra for the dogs but it's worth it to be able to have them with you. It's pretty outside too. It's simple but well done. If they just could get new beds it would be much more sought after.
We love to stay here when we pass through. It's so close to Redding for good dining and entertainment, but it's a wonderful secluded spot. The patio rooms are nice, especially for families who have kids that go to bed early and to sit out with your special someone. We've also stayed in the suite, which is very spacious (though the bedroom is not completely closed off).
Old outdated and over priced for hotel 8 vibes. It’s very misleading. Your better off staying at super 8 hotel and saving money. The hotel has a weird design to get to your room. Paper thin and very small towels. You only get 2 in your bathroom which is odd. The hole room was out dated. Floors are cheap stick vinyl. Smells musky. Paper thin walls as well. They advertise very well for what you pay for.
We try to stop here whenever passing through. An oasis of peacefulness with a decent restaurant attached. An adult, quiet kind of place. Although they do have a small pool that would please younger kids. The restaurant was closed only one day, Monday. That was the day we were there, so no breakfast on site. We love the grounds and enjoyed a stroll after long car ride. Rooms set up well. No elevator. Nice patios on bottom floors.
I stayed one night on a fishing trip to the Lower Sacramento River. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The grounds are well cared for, although a little aged. I enjoyed the poolside Jacuzzi, especially after a long drive from San Francisco. Woodside Grill on the site served a very tasty burger and arugula salad, and filling breakfast.
We have stayed at Gaia, and eaten at Woodside Grill, a number of times over the past 15 years. The on-site restaurant is extremely convenient, especially when returning from a long day of playing up at Lassen Volcanic Natl Park. This time we were here for a 3 day weekend to snowshoe. Our Friday night dinner was excellent. My Rib-eye steak was well prepared and very tasty; my partner's fresh Salmon was flavourful and moist. We had breakfast 3 mornings, and all were good to very good (and we welcomed the 3 minute walk). We had take out dinner one night in our room and were very happy with the Caesar salad, Ahi Poke, and the roasted Chicken. We're fans, and will be back.
