Our room was elegant and clean. However, we had a somewhat traumatizing experience. We stayed in one of the rooms with an antique door. The doorknob to this door malfunctioned, and we were trapped in the room. In the event of a fire or other emergency, we would have perished. We were on the 5th floor, and the windows didn't open. While I understand that it's a historic property and hardware ages, it was nonetheless frightening to be in this situation. When we alerted the front desk, they immediately sent someone to repair the door. However, the managers just laughingly apologized. We know they had no control over the incident, but we felt like they should have offered some type of compensation. The hotel is a 5-star property and boasts attention to detail as a hallmark. We chose to stay at the hotel due to its reputation for excellence. We have dined at the Benjamin Bar and attended numerous events at the facility. It was my birthday and staying overnight at the hotel has been on my bucket list since the hotel opened. My husband wanted to provide the experience of a lifetime before we leave the Washington, DC area. Overall, the experience was underwhelming. While the staff is extraordinarily friendly, it didn’t compensate for some of the flaws. Even our dining experience was less than exemplary. We ordered the clothesline bacon at the Benjamin Bar but were served bacon on a plate that was not at all similar to the clothesline bacon we had eaten on a previous visit. We had steaks at BLT Prime by David Burke. Both steaks were adequate but overcooked (cooked medium-well rather than medium). Our server was friendly but not very attentive. Since the restaurant only had 3 other parties, we expected somewhat better service. For example, we were never offered a second beverage, and the server brought us the wrong check. We chose not to ruin the evening by complaining since it was my birthday, but I regret not discussing it with management. While I would never dissuade anyone from experiencing the hotel, it may not meet expectations. Many of the reviews note the hotel’s attention to detail. While the staff is extremely courteous and the architecture is gorgeous, there was nothing extraordinary about the experience.…
The service is fantastic; uncompromised. All of the staff that we encountered were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The room was impeccable. The layout and the decor of the hotel, lounges, hallways, etc.are beautiful.
this place has really gone downhill - while staf are nice, the service and decor are so outdated. It is obvious that Trump brand is no longer an attraction. Think I will avoid everything named Trump for a while.
I served 27 years in the US Army, moved 17 times and have traveled extensively. I have stayed in 5 star hotels on 4 continents. Trump D.C. is hands down the best hotel experience I have every had. Everything was perfect.
Extremely happy and fortunate to have enjoyed yet another fantastic stay at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC. Warm, welcoming, professional, and courteous staff always make us feel completely at home!
