The hotel is as beautiful as its pictures and the location is top notch, conveniently located near monuments, museums, and restaurants. We flew in, took the metro to a nearby stop and had an easy walk to the luxury hotel. While the hotel may be first-class, the service seemed aimed to make me feel less than. From starting with a hassle checking in my family of 5 (despite booking a suite that sleeps six, listing all guests on the reservation and paying extra for the 5th person) to the concierge being kinda a wiseguy but most annoyingly the bellhop blatantly ignoring me for ages while I waited in the lobby obviously trying to ask him a question. Interestingly, we took a tour of local attractions and the hotel was one of the stops!
The location does not get better. This hotel is located in the heart of DC, within walking distance to most attractions. The hotel itself is beautiful if a tad intimidating on arrival. However, the friendliness of the staff is incomparable. The attention to detail sells the stay. I will definitely return.
This hotel is still as amazing as it has been in the past. I was expecting a lower service standard with the employment shortage in this industry but didn't see it one time. The hotel was well staffed and everyone there went above and beyond. Couldn't have asked for more! Well done Willard, I'll be back soon:)
I didn’t realize I never published this review. I am not able to go any further back with my date, but we actually traveled there in May of 2019. What an incredible experience. From the moment you walked in the door, it was absolutely wonderful. The front desk staff, the luggage attendants, cleaning staff, etc. were amazing. The hotel lobby is a work of art. The rooms were absolutely GORGEOUS. We had a complimentary bottle of wine and bowl of fruit for our stay. It was immaculate. My husband and I don’t usually spend a lot of money on hotels and stay at places like the Hyatt or Hilton brand hotels, but we splurged for the Willard. I am so glad we did. It was such a great time. We will absolutely stay here again when we are in the DC area.
Few hotels in America ooze as much American political history or can boast the rich and beautifully rendered patriotic architecture, as The Wilard. As frequent IHG guests, we were treated to an over the top upgrade, but it seems like most of the rooms at the hotel are spacious upgrades regardless. Very friendly, contemporary, and efficient service felt comfortable beside points of interest such as the 19th century luxury front desk Hotel charm. Located right in the center of everything important in DC, and only a block or two away from the White House. Where else in America can you go to a single floor and find the Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Suites in the same hallway. And all of these people, as well as dozens more notables, stayed there and have suites named after them The ceiling in the Lobby is worth the trip to see, every US state represented with its own unique Medallion. Mark at the front desk spoiled us, and everyone else treated us with the understated luxurious service accompanying the almost overstated architectural opulence. We had a delicious room service in our private dining room too. We will definitely stay at The Willard again and again when we are in D.C !…
I checked in and went to “my” room only to find someone sleeping there. After going back to the front desk they finally found a new room for me (they had obviously given away my room and were struggling to find a room for me). My new room is at the end of a long hall and the only light in the room is a tiny porthole window. Very concerning lack of security. Will not stay here again.
beautiful hotel. Lovely comfortable rooms. Great beds. Baths , well, not so much. Toilet very strange. Lots of walking, and lots of stairs, in hotel. Not good for handicapped people. Inhouse restaurant, poor. Great location. Staff very professional but not friendly. Busy busy busy.
A superb hotel. It was great to stay somewhere so historic. Don’t miss the small corridor with the hotels history with a list of famous people who have stayed there and loads of interesting artefacts. The lobby is stunning. Fine detail. Superbly presented. Check in was smooth and they were able to organise for us a taxi from Dulles airport. We got a room upgrade to a suite. The room was great. We had a small kitchen room with a fridge and a coffee machine. The wardrobe was a great size - loads of space for clothes and shoes and even the suitcases. There’s a safe there too. The bathroom was great - bath and a great shower. Toiletries provided. They have a hairdryer but it’s not that strong. The room had a comfy chair and a sofa as well as a huge desk and a chest of drawers with a tv on. Loads of storage space. The king size bed was really comfortable. Really classic finish in the room. We had some hotel credit which we used in the bar - the round robin is a historic bar with loads of atmosphere! The mint julep is amazing. Breakfast for us was included as part of our deal with the hotel - it was fantastic. It was served at the cafe du parc next door. Great staff. Huge portions. It was such a delight to stay in such a beautiful and historic hotel.…
We stayed in two connecting rooms on the 5th floor. The rooms were very large and spacious, and well-kept. It was wonderful to have daily cleaning service, which is hard to find recently. We brought our kids, and this was quite upscale for them. Everyone was gracious and the kids loved it. The location was great for seeing the sights as well as a show at The National and some live sports. We also had drinks at the bar and room service one night. Everything was great and the staff were wonderful. We’d highly recommend this hotel!
Truly a historical hotel in the perfect location. Could not think of a better place to stay, walking distance to the National Mall. In addition to the location, the hotel is truly a piece of history. It is incredibly well kept, with very spacious and comfortable rooms. We truly enjoyed our stay.
