The Fairfax struck me immediately as an old school hotel. The photos and decor were classy and classic. Our room was medium sized, had lots of natural light and was quiet. The bathroom was quite large, but the bathtub drained slowly (which did not bother me). The bar seemed lively as I walked by. The fitness room was not large,... More

Clean and quiet rooms but very dated decor. Bed was comfortable. Small television (but I never use it anyway). Tiny bathroom, although the water pressure in the shower was stronger than that in many hotels (a feature in my view). Gym is smallish and includes pretty dated cardio equipment (LifeFitness instead of Precor, etc.) -- *very* basic weight training facilities.... More

Here’s what distinguishes the Fairfax hotel from many in DC: Location is exceptional, just off Dupont Circle. The bar has unexpectedly good food, is quiet, very comfortable, clubby feeling, decent prices, excellent service, great drinks. Few hotels have such a seasoned, veteran staff; enjoy this before it’s gone. Some of the employees have worked there for decades, there’s a Southern... More

Stayed at this hotel on the 4th August with my wife and older teenage daughters as part of a three week trip to the US. The trip was booked and paid for over 9 months in advance through a highly reputable independant travel agent in Edinburgh. The hotel itself is lovely but their customer service is appalling. We arrived at... More

We strive to provide the very best in customer care to all our valued guests from start to finish, and it's clear we missed the mark during your stay. Unfortunately, when a reservation booked with a 3rd party booking site or not reserved with us directly, we do not have the booking details to reference; therefore, room type is based... More

This hotel pretends to be some kind of 'Grand Hotel' but in fact it is pretty average and priced high for what you are getting. It's also a little outdated. The rooms are clean and nice, but not very big at all. They are also fairly dark. The carpet in the hallways has seen better days. The breakfast buffet is... More

I have stayed at the Fairfax a couple of times and love the location and ambience. It is a very welcoming hotel. The rooms are well appointed, the beds comfortable and the sheets soft. However on my last visit the HVAC or something? seemed unusually loud.

Very traditional hotel. Doorman. Front desks. Beautiful woodwork and artwork. Conservative and tasteful décor. Quiet and mature. Conveniently located, plenty of restaurants. Shops close by. Safe neighborhood to walk in.

This is still a "decent" hotel in a good location, but far better years ago when it was run as a Ritz Carlton. Checking in was very slow with a person who appeared to be largely brain dead. When I finally got my reserved room, it was the worst possible, at the end of a corridor and the diagonal of... More

I greatly enjoyed my stay at this boutique hotel. The decor was faux antique but lovely. Not stuffy-chintzy- throw-back stuff. The location is marvelous, central to just about EVERYTHING a DC tourist wants and any seasoned visitor can't live without! The staff were largely very warm and friendly, and the restaurant though not quite Cordon Bleu, had some nice fresh... More

A beautiful and elegant hotel, historic place and neighborhood. Outstanding service and exceptional attention from everybody at the front desk, concierge, house keeping. Special mention to Ms Sonnelle Gonzales and Quatina Rosson.
