The Jefferson absolutely delivered a 5 star experience. The service was outstanding and all the little touches like a tv in my bathroom mirror or a stool for my purse went above and beyond what was expected. One of the best here. They have one of the best bar and restaurants I’ve had while staying in a hotel. The Quill and the Greenhouse had wonderful food and drinks ! Service was top notch. Every single staff member went above and beyond my expectation. A must if you are staying in DC ! So many amenities and extra touches.
For five years before covid, we stayed at this top-notch boutique hotel as tourists visiting DC, in all seasons. Then, we moved here and as residents got to enjoy it all regularly. It has always offered an outstanding level of service, class, and hospitality. As it has just re-opened, it is so wonderful to see it hasn’t lost its touch. It’s as beautiful and welcoming as ever. We’ve had breakfast in The Greenhouse and dinner in the main dining room this week. The food is still amazing. As noted in another review, everyone on staff is helpful and friendly. This is a unique and special place. Beautiful spaces; a gracious and professional staff; very comfortable, upscale hotel rooms; excellent food; and, a superb bar and wait staff. High class all around. The Jefferson is popular with both tourists and locals. The efforts of all who work there create an atmosphere a cut above and you love being part of it. They have a loyal following of professionals in the city and residents who know how great it is. For tourists, it’s well-situated for lots of activities around the city; and, the staff knows how to make your stay memorable. After a year+ of covid shutdowns, and outstanding businesses having to close, it’s so gratifying to see The Jefferson open for business again. Highly recommend it.…
Second visit to DC in ten years, and so happy to return back to this same hotel! This is a lovely boutique establishment, with great emphasis on the detail. Within easy walking distance to the White House area, we loved early morning walks and a return back to our home-away-from-home. We had a room upgrade and really appreciated that - the Quill bar is beautiful, as is the old-style reading room. But perhaps my favourite is the wonderful breakfast room, serving an excellent variety of options in a classy atmosphere. So happy to note that the quality has remained top notched and unchanged since I was last there. My clear choice on a future visit back to charming Washington DC.
A few days ago, I called to book a room with a King bed. I was going to a conference, which had a block of rooms set aside at a discounted rate of $475/night. When I called, I was told that the block of rooms was already sold out. So I booked a room with a Queen bed for $404/night. I was told that someone from group sale would call me and let me know if they could open up another King bed room for me at the $475 group rate. No one ever called me. For 3 days in a row, I called and was never able to get someone from group sale on the phone, so I left voice mail messages, none of which was returned. So today I called and cancelled my reservation and booked a more expensive room at the Park Hyatt on principle. I won't stay at a hotel that doesn't have the courtesy to return a guests repeated phone calls.…
Second visit to Washington DC, second visit to The Jefferson but first as a hotel guest. The previous very warm welcome we got on our last visit when we only visited the cocktail bar encouraged us to stay this time and get the full Jefferson experience (which we wrote about in a review back then). We weren’t disappointed. The welcome was superb and the little touches make the difference. Everything from the guy at the door remembering our name, the cleanliness of the rooms and the way you can choose (via in room iPad) exactly when you want it serviced (no more being woken up or interrupted, simply pick when you are out), to the excellent teams in both the restaurant and the bar of course which once again should be singled out for the genuine friendliness of the staff working there. It’s location near the White House and about 35-40 mins walk to either the ‘new’ Wharf area or Georgetown makes it an amazing venue too. Should also mention our trip was delayed from COVID and the communication in the run up to us eventually being able to come which coincided with the hotel being closed was superb too. We will be back!…
I travelled to Washington with my brother and we had 2 nights at the Jefferson. We absolutely fell in love with this property. The service was excellent and made us feel at home. The interior decoration was a perfect match of modern quality and old world design. The historical documents and other artefacts were absolutely fascinating and the tour with the historian was a highlight. Food was excellent too. Having use of the University Club gym was a bonus as I did want to train over the weekend; their gym is very well equipped. Really I can't think of a better property in Washington DC. Thank you to everyone at the Jefferson!
I stayed at the Jefferson for the first time. I’ve stayed at many hotels in DC over the past 5 years. The Jefferson by far was the best hotel. The staff was just superb. They were attentive and made you feel very welcomed. Will return on my next visit! I found the best hotel in DC! LL
The Jefferson feels like a well kept secret -- it's exclusive and luxurious and feels very in-the-know. From the rooms (the most comfortable bed, the softest bathrobe, the deepest tub) to the service (impeccable) to the restaurant/bar (You won't find a better hidden bar than The Quill and their breakfast atrium makes you feel like you're dining al fresco) to the perfectly appointed library with cozy nooks and a roaring fireplace. it honestly feels too good to be true. Made me wish I could live there -- 24 hours and I felt 100% rejuvenated.
After trying many different hotels in Washington I finally found THE one to call home when travelling for business or pleasure. Great people, beautiful hotel, two great restaurants on premises, a small gym and great room service. This hotel gets everything right and has character and panache without trying too hard. Will be back. Many times.
From the moment we called for our reservation, walked in the door for our stay and throughout our stay, the care of the hotel, the support from the staff, and all of the amazing extras was fantastic. We LOVED speaking with the historian they have that comes to the hotel on Saturday mornings, the beautiful bar filled with history and delicious drinks, the cozy book room for am coffee and to sit and relax, the welcoming door service with waters at the ready, the helpful front desk and concierge and the tv in the bathroom mirror. WOW! We will be back for sure!!
