My wife, daughter and I arrived in Washington, DC for a brief 3 day visit. From the moment we checked in with André at reception, to the luggage service with Abdul, the breakfast service with El Maashi, and finally to check out with Fleur and Sean, we had extremely kind and courteous attention. I had my morning newspapers delivered as requested, breakfast was delicious and timely, and the rooms were spacious, warm and very comfortable. The view toward St. John's church was relaxing and gave us much sunlight. I would also like to commend the lady concierge who was there on Monday, the day we checked out. She was very attentive, and extremely well-trained in customer relations and customer service. The Hay-Adams sets the highest standard for excellence in Washington, DC. I only have one suggestion. When I emailed prior to my arrival to make a reservation at the hotel's Lafayette Restaurant, I was given a phone number to call, instead of just taking and confirming my reservation. The hotel could in fact contact it's customers through email prior to arrival to ask about any special request.…
This hotel is amazing and the service is really what makes it special. Everyone there - from the front desk person to the concierge to the doorman to the housekeeper to the breakfast servers - always greeted us by name and made us feel like we were staying in their home. I wish I knew where they found workers like this so I could hire them for my business. The breakfast was great, beds comfortable, and they have twice daily housekeeping and turndown at night, no need to request. One day we had trouble getting an Uber or taxi and they sent us to dinner in the house limo. Concierge went above and beyond both before and after the trip. I can’t imagine you’ll get service like this anywhere else in DC. The location is literally next door to the White House lawn. We walked almost everywhere other than Georgetown. I can’t wait to go back!…
Exceptional property with superb service and an unbeatable location - their motto of “Nothing is overlooked except the White House” is apt. Both dinner and breakfast in the Lafayette Room and Dining Room, respectively were memorable with superb service and great food. Front desk and Concierge were both very helpful- the Concierge got us last minute tickets to the sold out African American museum. The event space on the roof has perhaps the finest view of the White House and would make for an exceptional space for a gathering. They have a Tesla charger for EV owners! Strongly recommended.
Overall or stay at the Hay was lovely, the room was great, and the location is one of the best in town. The room was great, with plenty of space. Bathrooms are not "modern" (still had a tub-shower in our Studio room) but are large, clean and classy looking. Toiletries/towels and shets are high end and great. Service was hit or miss, sadly. Front desk and doormen were warm and welcoming, while the must-do Off The Record bar staff were not as personal or outgoing. The well-known basement bar has good food and drinks, but is always packed and ends up not feeling as special as it should (likely because the main lobby is small and not a good place to hang out and there are no other pubic spaces on site). Try for a back corner table to make the best of it. Turn down service and housekeeping is on point and much appreciated but we felt the breakfast service at Lafayette was lacking (our second day took nearly an hour to get food at 10AM on a Thursday- though maybe it was just staffing issues due to the holidays). Note for AmEx Platinum bookings- you get a $100 food/beverage credit and the breakfast comes in the form of a $30pp per day credit (which is nice and flexible!). This is a popular hotel for a reason- quality rooms, great location and it's probably a great hotel for business. While we appreciate it's qualities, and would recommend it, we wouldn't have it on the list again for a romantic weekend away, and look for a more cozy, personal hotel/lobby/restaurant. …
There is none better when you see the White House in front of your room. This is an old-Washington luxury experience, and btw major names in politics are either staying there, eating there, or meeting people there. So much people watching!
By far, the finest hotel in DC. Don’t miss going to “Off the Record,” in the basement. Room service breakfast is sublime. This is the closest hotel to the White House. As wonderful as the hotel is, the staff are even better. Really good people.
I've been lucky to stay at the Hay-Adams many times and each visit to this jewel-box hotel is a delight. My recent trip was just an overnight for work, but it was perfect. From the greeting at the front door, to reception, to housekeeping, to breakfast - the hospitality is flawless. It sets a standard for graciousness and unstuffy elegance that so many five-star hotels cannot achieve. The rooms are wonderful, especially if you're lucky to have a view of the White House. Beds are crazy comfortable as are the highly functional workspaces (chargers and lights just where you want them). The bathrooms are small but with the fluffiest towels and gorgeous bath amenities. Thanks to all the staff for such a nice stay. I'll be back!!
Lives up to its 5 star reputations Amazing team Paul, Giovanny , ( big United fan !) Everyone from lobby staff , concierge, waiters , restaurant team give their all . Polite friendly courteous could not do enough for us Maybe because I have a Manchester United connections !!! Bed Room was amazing Breakfast superb We highly recommend you stay here Hotel overlooks the White House Perfect position to see Washington DC Dr and Mrs Wander
This is our third trip to the Hay-Adams and once again, it did not disappoint! The location of the hotel is perfect, so much you can walk to and a Metro stop close by. The room was comfortable and peaceful. The bed is so comfortable. Prior to our arrival, Sandor and Brian on the concierge team, helped us book a private tour and a Monuments by Night to tour. Both tours were wonderful. Once we arrived, the amazing service continued. At check in our room was not ready. The gentleman who checked us in, whose name sadly I do not have, offered us a drink in the bar while we waited for our room. After having someone escort us to the Off the Record we enjoyed lovely cocktail. While in the bar, we even received an update on the status of our room! As someone who has worked in customer service for years, there is nothing worse than feeling you have been forgotten, we were clearly not forgotten. In addition to the complimentary drinks in the bar, we were offered a chance to go to the rooftop at sunset to take some photos. This is something I had wanted to do on our last trips but never asked. The head of security escorted upstairs and we took some beautiful photos. He was so gracious and genuine. We discussed the hotel, DC and life! I am sure he had other more pressing things to do than spend time with us but you would never have known it. The rest of the team also delivers service above and beyond. Our breakfasts with Geovanny each morning were delightful. We looked forward to seeing him each day. Everyone else we came in contact with during our stay, from the everyone the lobby each day who opened doors, hailed a cab, helped with bags, offered cookies and water could not have been more helpful and kind. In addition, I am sure because of a mention to Sandor, the hotel manager, had some chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine delivered to our room for our Anniversary. As I mentioned, to Brian one the concierge team members when we were leaving, we found a level of peace and comfort at hotel each when arrived back after a day of sightseeing. We would never consider staying anywhere but the Hay-Adams when in DC. Thank you for a great visit!…
The hospitality was as excellent as the accommodations. Every person, waiters, maid, reception, concierge. Doormen were soo hospitable . It was welcoming. We felt like royalty…who are beloved by the staff. We celebrated our son’s wedding reception there, which was one reason we returned. Since then we have returned for tea time nd now this lovely birthday weekend for my husband and son. We left with warm memories.
