Hotel Madera is just a really special place to stay. The location in Washington DC is perfect, especially if you want to use public transportation to get around town...to sightsee or walk in an interesting and beautiful neighborhood that is just a few blocks from Dupont circle. You can easily catch a bus or the metro or walk to shops, restaurants, or the White House, etc. But the Hotel itself has been recently renovated, so it is clean, charming and up to date. The coffee/tea that is available in your room is first rate. There is plenty of fresh, clean ice for drinks..I liked sitting on the balcony in my room, enjoying a cocktail with the furniture provided. Then the staff writing handwritten greeting notes and sending up a bowl of fresh-cut fruit and; well really, I find that very friendly and welcoming. I plan to have a return visit in the future. Wonderful and safe place to spend time...and the Firefly restaurant next door is worth your visit.

This hotel is a fairly new hotel I stayed here when it first opened in February and this is my second time staying in April. The hotel is located in the heart of Dupont Circle which is very convenient you can walk or take the metro. Beautiful balconies and scenery not on a busy street. The staff here are very nice very accommodating this is my second time here and I’ve enjoyed it even more than my first it’s a very relaxing hotel to get away if you’re like me on a staycation. The restaurant downstairs firefly is also very good they have great cocktails the staff there are also very nice. The rooms are clean and beautiful the king size bed is my favorite one of the best sleeps you would get. I recommend this hotel to anybody that wants to stay in Washington DC and that want to be in a nice area that is metro accessible and walkable

My husband and I spent this past weekend in DC. Our son has lived there for over 20 years (including his college days), so we are very familiar with the city . We visit several times a year , and we have stayed in many different areas of the city. We love Dupont Circle, so we were surprised and happy to discover the Hotel Madera. It has been recently renovated with a bright modern vibe. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with hardwood floors rather than carpeting .The bathroom is large and accommodates a walk in shower with various massaging heads. The staff couldn't have been nicer. In particular, the manager Maggie was very attentive and helpful. We also had brunch at their Firefly Restaurant. It was delicious. If you are planning a trip to Washington, and you want to be steps away from restaurants, coffee shops and other shopping you should give Hotel Madera a try. You will be very impressed.

This review is a super shoutout to Mr. Antoine and Taylor! The customer service from these two were absolutely amazing from the moment I pulled up! Mr. Antoine was everything that I needed and more and Taylor was the cherry on top! It was pretty hot outside, so Mr. Antoine made sure that my air conditioner was on and pumping when I got there. Taylor mad sure that everything in my room was all set and literally anything else that I needed was tended to. The only reason this review is not getting 5 stars is because of the housekeeping staff. I had some decorations in my room for a surprise celebration for my boyfriends birthday. When the housekeeping staff came the next morning, I don't think that the woman knew I was in the room so when she opened the door, I heard her exclaiming about the "mess" (there were rose pedals on the floor and balloons). Now, I was planning to get up the rose pedals because I never leave a hotel room a mess and I did just that. However, I was very frustrated buy the response from the staff. Other than that, the stay was amazing. I will definitely book again!

We stayed at the Madera for a week. Our room was spacious and well appointed, which was nice considering we stayed a week. The bed was comfortable. It felt a bit like the hotel was understaffed, but that is likely a pandemic-related phenomenon; the staff we did encounter were uniformly friendly and helpful. Housekeeping serviced our room like clockwork. The fitness center is small and modestly equipped, with two treadmills, a Peleton bike, a rowing machine and a free weight rack. The location is ideal if you want to be near Dupont Circle and a reasonably close walk to George Washington University. The location provides easy access to several good running trails. The evening cocktail hour offered very tasty mixed drinks. Unlike hotels that charge for water, the staff provided complimentary water bottles and there was a water station by the elevator on every floor for refills. The hotel is definitely upgraded from when we stayed there several years’ ago when it was part of the Kimpton chain, and is a good choice for a comfortable stay.

I would rate this stay a 6 if I could.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for July 4th weekend, 2021. We have stayed in the hotel about 4 times previously, while the hotel was under a different corporate management.

The hotel recently had a major renovation, which gave the guest rooms a noticeably larger amount of usable space. The bathrooms are very roomy and modern. The hotel offers a complimentary drink starting at 530pm to 6pm, which is a nice offering. The staff is what makes the Madera experience a step above, but more on that below.

This hotel's location is one of the reason we have stayed here many times. The Dupont Cirlce neighborhood has many bars, restaurants, parks and a Metro Station, so sight seeing from here is fairly easy.
This stay was exceptional because of the entire front desk staff, including Maggie. While having our complementary drink, we told Maggie about our prior stay at this hotel, which use to offer guests milk & cookies after 8pm or 9pm. Later that night after the conversation, the front desk staff brought us warm chocolate cookies!! This was a wonderful surprise. Ths staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. We were very appreciative. Sometimes the little things make a huge impression.

On the day of checking out, we had a mishap with the room safe. We left some valueables in the room safe and it was locked, but we didn't reaqlize it until we had driven about 2 hours from DC. Maggie again came through and was able to provide a good solution for our self-inflicted dilemma. In my opinion, the front desk was the stars and great assets to Madera DC Hotel.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The entire staff made us feel like family. The bed and pillows were perfect and so was the blackout curtain. The location is very central and we were able to walk to most places (wear tennis shoes and sunscreen). The towels were bigger and softer than your average hotel towel Their restaurant, Firefly, was delicious and their staff was also incredibly friendly and accommodating. Thank you to Maggie, Scott, MJ, Alex, Andy, and anyone behind the scenes we did not get to meet personally. Our stay was so comfortable and we will be staying if we return to this area!

I love boutique hotels and Madera is one of the best boutique hotels I've ever stayed in. The location is perfect and is within walking distance to great restaurants, bars and tourist attractions (if you're in DC touring). The room we had was quite large and included a sectional. We also had a balcony overlooking New Hampshire, which was a nice spot to have a cocktail and people watch in the afternoon. The staff members were extremely helpful and friendly. And, if you own a pet, this is definitely where you want to stay.

There is no extra charge for pets and they really spoil your pets. From the moment you walk in, they offer doggie treats and doggie toys. They also send a dog bed up to your room. Every day we were there, they greeted my dog by her name. One evening when we went out to dinner and left our dog in the room, we received a call from the hotel staff informing us that our dog was crying in the room. We expected them to tell us that we needed to come get her. But, they actually asked if they could go get her from the room so that she would not continue to disturb the other guests. They encouraged us to enjoy enjoy our dinner. We gave them permission to get our dog from the room, but ultimately, decided to return to pick her up and we took her to dinner with us. Luckily, many of the restaurants here in DC allow dogs on their patios.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting DC.

My visit to DC staying at the Madera has been so enjoyable. My time in DC has been part of a 5 week long / 11 state trip across the US and some hotels I wish to be able to take with me wherever I go. This is one of them.

The room is SO spacious, I love it! We had a deluxe king balcony room (room 902, second highest floor) and the outlook is lovely, comprising some nice apartment buildings and historical buildings on New Hampshire Street below. I love staying in downtown areas as at night you get a heap of lights in your view, but Dupont Circle is such a convenient location for restaurants, shops and getting the quick metro to the National Mall, monuments, memorials, White House, and museums, and also the $1 circulator bus right around the corner to Georgetown.

The bed is huge and blissful. The TV is big and has my favourite channels. The AC works well. The bathroom, with separate spacious area for vanity and storage closet, and small toilet / shower room, was good.

There is no coffee maker in the room but if you request one, they will put it in your room right away.

The staff are so lovely, welcoming and helpful. Our bags were happily carried up the few steps from lobby to elevators and we were greeted warmly each time we returned to the hotel.

I slept so well here. It's dark at night, unlike some hotels that have 20 glowing buttons and huge gaps around the door or curtains that don't close properly. It is also quiet.

Thank you for a lovely stay!

The lobby is small but nice and stylish. There is free coffee and lemon water there as well as newspapers daily.

This hotel is one of the best hotel stays I’ve had in over 25 years visiting DC and staying in many properties. Sumptuously large rooms (I had the King deluxe- Rm 507) make your experience more like an apartment than a standard hotel room. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, helping with additional coffee requests and showing me how to operate the TV when the remote was not cooperating. Daily maid service is back which was very welcomed. The location is superior, just steps away from the Dupont Circle Red line station and 12 minute walk to the Foggy Bottom Metro station.
