After reviewing a few dozen hotels I selected Hotel Madera based on glowing reviews. Engaging staff. Clean, well appointed, quiet rooms. Lively restaurant/bar. Excellent location between Dupont and Washington Circles. And happily all those reviews were true. I was sad to leave and will return here on future visits to DC. (So many fabulous restaurants close by still to explore) Thank you to all the staff of both hotel and restaurant for the hard work you put in each day to make guests feel comfortable and cared for.
This hotel exceeded expectations in EVERY way! Staff was absolutely amazing from front desk to bar staff to housekeeping and bellhop. Amazingly friendly and helpful. Made us feel like family by greeting us by name all the time. Room was super clean, huge bathroom, comfortable beds and nice touches everywhere. Ice on every floor prepackaged in individual bags. We will NEVER visit DC again and stay anywhere else. Keep up the great job and we’ll see you soon! Love love love this hotel!
I’ve stayed in a few of the hotels in DuPont Circle, and my recent three night stay at Hotel Madera was the best experience I’ve yet had. The staff are friendly and kind; they seem to genuinely enjoy working together. Beyond that, it’s more granular to quantify why this place is pretty much perfect (to me): it’s the little details. In my room, the roll down shade blocked ALL the light so I slept fantastically without having to wear a sleeping mask. I had a breathtaking sunset view. There was a pour over electric kettle that allowed me to precisely heat the water to the appropriate temperature for the lovely tea selection (boiling water makes most tea bitter). There was a single light switch in the bathroom: no fumbling around for the light switches for the shower, toilet area, vanity, just one! The bathroom layout was sensible and spacious; the toiletry products were stellar (decently-sized bars of soap, thank you!) The sheets were crisp and the bed and pillows were perfectly comfy. Over the few days I stayed, It started to feel like coming home each day. I felt welcomed and absolutely comfortable. I’ll be staying here next time!…
Perfect location, lovely room, and amazing experience. The staff (specifically Maggie and Michelle) were extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel is in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of restaurants and Firefly is amazing -- the mixologist Georgi's drinks were delicious. Would come back to stay at Madera in a heartbeat.
Hotel Madera has become our go-to hotel in Washington DC, where we travel several times per year. We like the location and the easy walks to the Foggy Bottom metro station, Whole Foods, Georgetown, etc. The rooms are large and modern, and the bathrooms are unusually well designed. But the reason that we keep going back to the Madera is the staff. They go out of their way to make you feel that you are valued and taken care of—whether it is helping you with luggage, to offering you large ice packs after a long day of walking, or just asking about your day, it is the closest that you are likely to come to an experience of “coming home” when you return to your hotel. I especially want to mention Trevor who, from the first day that we met him, has gone out of his way to make our stays pleasant and seamless. There are a lot of good hotels in Washington DC, but the people running them make a significant difference. In the case of the Madera, the people working there make the hotel exceptional.…
Our stay at hotel Madera from February 22nd thru 26th was excellent! Upon arrival which was earlier than we had planned as there was no traffic delays Maggie got us checked in early so we could start our journey through DC . Once we were in our room she called up to make sure everything was okay!! Bellhop who parked our vehicle and helped with luggage was so courteous and helpful! We dined on Thursday at hotel ! The food and staff at Firefly were excellent! MJ our server was the best so enjoyable to chat with! If you wish to have an enjoyable hotel stay I highly recommend Madera! We are going back in May and bringing our dogs this time!
This was my first time to DC to attend a convention. I chose this hotel because of the amazing reviews. Let me tell you, they do not do it justice. How is this place not fully booked???!! The rooms were HUGE and so clean. The location cannot be beat. I slept like a baby, which is almost impossible for me away from home. The very first night, I did not arrive until after 8pm. I needed an item from the convenience store and asked directions. They insisted on not only giving me directions, but walking me! They greeted me every single time I walked in and out, by name. Eddie, Mohamed, Robert, Maggie made me feel so at home. By the end of the week I dreaded leaving. Thank you hotel madera!!!
Lovely big room, tastefully decorated and in a perfect location. Very big and comfortable bed, and unexpectedly a balcony facing a delightful street. We stayed in five different hotels on our recent USA trip and this was by far the best. I am very fussy with hotels but even I couldn't find anything wrong with the room! My only minor issue was that I was expecting to be able to use the valet parking but the valet space out the front of the hotel was blocked on arrival (by a parked vehicle) and there was no valet attendant to be seen - and they were not at all apologetic when I raised this. Parked in a secure garage a block or so away instead which was fine in the end.
Loved this hotel for our family trip. If you are looking for a quiet, apartment-like hotel experience then this is the place. Rooms are exactly as pictured, clean and spacious. There is a nice restaurant lounge off the lobby for a quick breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a nightcap. Nice location - Easy walk to local restaurants and coffee shops and not far from main attractions. The staff was friendly, helpful, and easy going. Will stay here again!
We are repeated visitors to this over the top friendly hotel! This boutique hotel is so stylish and comfortable. The staff go out of their way to make sure you are having a good stay Maggie the Manager makes sure. The food at the firefly restaurant is superb! We love that the hotel is located near DuPont Circle where we can walk to restaurants and shopping. Also the hotel is conveniently located near the metro stop.
