The Beacon offers a sense of levity in a city that often weights itself down. Intimate gathering spaces invite guests to loosen their proverbial ties and let down their hair. People watch in the lively lobby, catch up on international news in the sunken library, kick back with a creative cocktail on the rooftop terrace, or ponder the artwork presented throughout the public spaces. The Beacon brings together brilliant minds and global influences in an approachable setting. The Beacon Bar & Grill offers an eclectic menu of traditional American fare and internationally-influenced dishes prepared with locally sourced produce. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails can be enjoyed in the atrium lounge. Fireside booths in the main dining room make for especially warm memories. SkyBar, a rooftop lounge, offers creative cocktails and light snacks, paired with incredible city views.

Don’t be deceived by the glamor shots. It isn’t that nice. We had a twin-bed room that had a couch, a 2-person dining table, a desk, and a kitchenette. Having the ‘extras’ was nice, but the kitchen was not in great condition. The pillows on the bed seemed past their prime. The padding on the chairs were sunk in. The HVAC made loud noises that woke me up every hour all through the night. The tub/shower had a no-slip mat which had water caught underneath that squished when you stepped on it (puke! I can’t imagine how moldy that was underneath!). The attached Bar & Grille was temporarily closed. And the lobby area was literally smaller than my own living room. And of course, top it all off with a mandatory resort/facility fee of $30/night. It was great to be within walking distance of the DC mall so it has that going for it. And the linens were clean and taught every day (though they did forget to give us wash cloths one day). I guess I just can’t help feeling I should have sprung for something nicer for the trip.

This hotel is disgusting, the toilet does not work and the faucet barely can turn and the tubs are dirty the staff is not friendly. The building itself is extremely old and fragile. The elevators seem like there on their last legs. Avoid this place also keep in mind hidden fees of $30usd to facilities when there are no facilities AVOID THIS PLACE. The entire building is like a relic avoid this place and go to a reputable hotel. This is NOT A 3 STAR HOTEL and the reviews seem fake! Also, Restaurants and Usual additions are all closed.

Unfortunate that the restaurant hasn't survived COVID, but nice rooms and great staff in a great location at a reasonable price. This is becoming a very popular area for nightlife and so the neighborhood can be a bit loud on weekends - on the plus side you're close to everything. It's an older hotel but rooms upgraded in ways that matter. Very considerate and thorough housekeeping. Wish the wi-fi was a little more robust and didn't require daily log-ins, but otherwise a great stay.

The hotel is ran down. No restaurant or bar since Covid (Which is weird in DC, all hotels have amazing bars and restaurants). That charge you a $30 "facilities" fee yet they have no actual facilities. They say its for Wifi, and the fitness center, and pool. But that's wild. Staff is ok but not polite nor friendly, just going through the motions. Stay away.

Vents were dirty, tub was stained, walls in somewhat disrepair. Service was excellent, Front Desk went above and beyond, Valet was excellent, my car was out front almost immediately. Staff kind and courteous.

This hotel is very nice with a nice staff. It’s convenient to activities. I recommend you park elsewhere because it’s $60 a night to park there. We parked a block away for half the price. There is not a complimentary breakfast.

Blood spot on a pillow case and towel. Room was drenched in horrid room freshener to try and cover up the smell of smoke. Furniture was on the verge of falling apart. Front desk attendant was too busy talking to her boyfriend to help me. Restaurant is closed, Dreary appearance all round. Do not stay here. I refused to stay the night and was refused a refund.

Since this property was part of the Best Western brand, and since I had enough points for two nights, I decided to stay here for a religious gathering. I could complain about the parking rate per night ($60), but, it is Washington DC, so I get it. I would have loved to have had that Beacon restaurant be open and available. However, it was explained to me that due to the COVID restrictions that plagued Washington DC, the restaurant had to close. But they did say that they plan to open the restaurant again eventually. I am not pleased that there was a $30 per night "resort fee", when the only thing I benefitted from was receiving bottled water. I did like having the bottled water, but should have taken $60 worth of bottled water, since I stayed there for two nights. The staff there was exceptionally nice. I forget their names, but the staff was great. As for my room, I was given a suite that had a kitchen in it. I was grateful for this. However, in my kitchen, there was only one wine glass. Now I was by myself, however, if a couple were staying there and wanted to enjoy some wine, would they have had to share one wine glass? Also, as a suggestion, maybe have some dishwashing liquid there like Dawn or Palmolive. I know that they had a dishwasher and dishwashing powder. But what if you only dirty a few dishes, and there is not enough dishes to necessitate filling up a dishwasher? Have some dish washing liquid instead for the small load of dirty dishes. And yes, I did clean my own dishes and cleaned up after myself, like my mother taught me to. LOL. As for the coffee maker, that seemed like more of an espresso machine. It was OK, but I would have preferred the Kuerig with regular K-cups, The room was very clean, no complaints there. The closet and bathroom combination was unique, to say the least. So the coat closet is in the bathroom, with shelves for your clothing, yet in the bathroom. It was OK since I was by myself. But what if two people were staying in that room? if one was in the bathroom showering, the other person might be inconvenienced if he/she had to access where their clothing is stored. Still, I never saw a closet like that in a hotel bathroom before. Overall, it was a neat hotel that served my needs. I did absolutely love that St. Matthews' Catholic Cathedral was literally a block away. I was able to attend Daily Mass there, very convenient. Thank you to the staff for a pleasant stay.
