We love the River Inn! We have been here before and it’s always great to come back. Even the green trees outside at night are an eye catcher. The whole staff is fantastic! Starting with Mr. B. and ending with Bettina! Everyone is lovely! ♥️ It seems they love the River Inn like we do. We will definitely come back and recommend the River Inn for friends.
We have stayed here a few times. A smaller friendly place. In a nice quite neighborhood. An easy walk to Georgetown, the mall, the Kennedy Center and restaurants. There is plenty of hot water. There is a laundry with credit card/phone access. They even gave us soap for the washers. There is a treadmill and stuff in the gym but you will get plenty of exercise walking everywhere. There is coffee downstairs till noon and coffee makers in the rooms. Kitchens with a good size fridge, stove, and dishes and pots and pans to cook. It is only .2 miles to Trader Joe’s in on direction and Whole Foods in the other. Easy walk to the Metro which you can take from Washington Regan Airport to Foggy Bottom stop (6 stops) on the blue line and walk .2 miles. Suggest you set the Metro up on your phone ahead of time. SmarTrip is the app you use. I takes about a 1/2 hour to happen when you creat the account but then fast and easy to use and and add money. Housekeep is by request. We set it up for everyday. It was very good. They have cribs available, my son and his wife and grandson were happy with that. In the warmer weather they have 4 tables out front where you can sit and enjoy the world going by. We picked up food, wine, and beer and enjoyed it there. A number of the people have their dogs with them. Circa at Foggy Bottom was a good place to sit at the bar. Between Whole Foods and the Metro.…
Great location near GWU that allowed easy access to the Metro. The Metro will get you to practically everything a tourist would see. Staff very friendly and helpful. Suites clean and spacious. Access to washer and dryer nice. Quiet, historic neighborhood. Limited dining in area but a few good places walkable. The suite has a kitchenette. Highly recommended.
My wife and I wanted to do something special for our 18th wedding anniversary, and we soon settled on a trip to Washington, D.C., a place we both love. I immediately thought it would be nice to stay at the River Inn, where I had often stayed while doing grant reviews for NIH. I had nothing but good memories of this lovely hotel in a quiet Foggy Bottom neighborhood, and our Anniversary trip was indeed another memorable experience. The River Inn is still a welcoming place for a visit to D.C. I have to start by commenting on the professional and friendly staff--always ready to help or provide directions. Our suite was nicely furnished, utterly spotless, and extremely quiet. Everything worked well. We truly felt at home. My only suggestion would be to improve accessibility to the front entrance for folks who have difficulty with stairs. However, staff members were always there to assist anyone who needed a hand. Overall, I don't think visitors to the area can do any better than to book their stay at the River Inn. Lots of good groceries, restaurants, and all that Georgetown has to offer are nearby. Our thanks to the staff and management for making this past weekend a truly Happy Anniversary!…
I had a very nice stay at the River Inn! From the moment I arrived I was greeted and given a card that welcomed me warmly. If I needed anything, there was someone always available to help. When I checked out of the inn, Bettina asked me how my stay was and wished me safe travels. The staff was very hospitable and made my visit to DC enjoyable!
We were supposed to fly in late at night to DCA but the flight got delayed and eventually airline cancelled it at the last minute. It was very frustrating and tiring.. I called the River Inn to let them know, we would not be able to come that night. Zelia, who answered my phone call, was so helpful and understanding. Next day, we finally made our way to DC. We were welcomed by Ashley and her advice to visit the Spy Museum was for real! My girls really enjoyed it! There were many cafes, restaurants, and my favorite Trader Joe’s within walking distance. The Inn is located within a nice quiet neighborhood. Also, I hope I get this name correct-Brandie? (Sorry, if I got the name wrong.)Who helped us check out was also very efficient and kind. Thank you all.
We are unfamiliar with neighborhoods in the DC area. We picked The River Inn after comparing room rates for other hotels using TripAdvisor and couldn't have been happier with our selection. The hotel is located in Foggy Bottom, a quiet walkable neighborhood. There are restaurants nearby, a 7-11 (small convenience store), Trader Joe's (grocery store) and a Starbucks several blocks away. Our trip was during a time period when temperatures felt over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. There were 2 bottles of water when we arrived in our room. Air conditioning worked great, plenty of hot water for showers, the room was clean, mattress and pillows were comfortable. We were surprised with the kitchenette. It was stocked with table settings for two, including glasses, plates and flatware. A Keurig with some complimentary pods. There was even a gas cook top. You could order grocery delivery if needed. We started making fresh ice right away. It's a pet friendly hotel. We saw numerous guests with dogs. There were also plenty of families with smaller children there too. ALL staff were super helpful, knowledgeable about the area and pleasant to talk to. We would definitely stay there again.…
My two sisters and I spent Sunday night at the River Inn, the second leg of a weekend in the DC area. It was our first stay at the River. We selected it for location-- Foggy Bottom, proximity to a Metro stop -- and for plenty of space for 3 old broads to stretch out after a day of sightseeing. This is an all-suites hotel, ideal for families and for longer stays. Our suite had two double beds, a fully equipped kitchen, and a sitting room with fold out sleeper sofa. Both the sitting room and bedroom had televisions; a safe in the bedroom. The place was immaculately clean, both our suite and the public areas of the inn. I was particularly impressed with the quality of service. The valet didn't just park our car; he delivered our luggage to our suite. When we called the front desk asking about the location of the ice machine (there wasn't one -- full kitchen & all) , the front desk attendant personally delivered a bucket of ice. She also arranged a cab for our evening plans, When our TV wouldn't work, she had a tech guy on the scene in minutes. For an overnight stay, all this was unexpected and much appreciated. Be aware that valet parking will cost you $50 per night. This is pretty standard for hotels in the city (at least in my experience), but some travelers get taken by surprise at the extra charge. Just be sure to factor in into your planning. As this is a residential area, street parking may be an option (if you want to chance it). The on-site restaurant was closed, but morning coffee was available. Breakfast before hitting the road would have been nice, but not a real issue. There are a couple of cafes in walking distance. I'll definitely keep The River Inn on my radar for future DC trips, and will recommend it to friends traveling to the District.…
The room was actually a suite with a kitchen. The location was very close to the Kennedy Center in a quiet neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The suite was very clean. We will definitely stay here again! The only thing is that you can hear people talking in the other room from the bathroom, but we just closed the bathroom door.
Seems we always find ourselves back at The River Inn when in DC with family. (2015 to present) for the following 3 reasons 1.Spacious suites with great AC. We need to come back , relax & recharge from the DC heat in between activities. Kitchenettes make it easy to have light meals & snacks an easy option. Lots of fridge space for cold items. These big spaces with sweeping views are perfect to unwind in privacy. (also sunrise is stunning!) 2. Staff is CONSISTENTLY over the years very accommodating. Currently Ashley and her crew are your go to for anything, just ask. 3. Location: walkable to Starbucks, trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, &pizza sweetgreen (makes it easy to get our favorites to go and eat back in our room at our table) AND a little further of a walk to monuments/ museums OR Georgetown. The valet parking is a bit overpriced but service is excellent (and there are cheaper options locally so don’t have that be a deal breaker!) It all adds up to being our favorite family spot in DC.…
