The hotel's location was convenient to walk or catch a short uber to most of the DC attractions and to many restaurants. The hotel is beautiful and they have maintained the feel of a historical building in the lobby, but the rooms are nicely updated and feel more modern. Service was excellent. Overall a great place to stay when in the city.
Me and friends had so much fun! We were visiting for pride weekend and this hotel was perfect it was right in between the two events. The room was nice and spacious and we were so happy to have a higher floor! Definitely would visit again!
The Mayflower has an old charm and was a good location for my business trip. The area around it was quiet at night with many restaurants closing at 7 pm. I ate at the Edgar twice and while the service was great, the food was average. Do yourself a favor and walk to the City Place Cafe (just outside the door of the conf room hallway) for breakfast or lunch - delicious and well priced. My room was nice however it was a hot week and the room never quite cooled off despite me setting the AC to 65. Be sure to join the free Marriott rewards program so you get the WiFi for free rather than paying $13 per day.
The Mayflower is a beautiful old hotel in a great location. The staff is friendly and helpful. However, a big perk for members with status is the lounge. The mayflower used to have a very nice lounge with breakfast and snacks. It closed during COVID and has not reopened, despite the fact that the hotel is now very busy again. And the complimentary coffee in the lobby, already a poor substitute for a lounge, is now gone too. Come on Mayflower, make your status guests feel special.
A 3 day weekend stay. Requested Suite upgrade since we were 2 adults and 2 kids. Was told they had suite for purchase but not for upgrade. Not sure why they wouldn't let the top tier guests experience their suite? Maybe it would generate retention? Though I do have to mention we were upgraded to a larger double room upon check-in. My wife had called ahead and spoke to the concierge about museums we were planning to visit. And while visiting we also dropped by their desk to get maps and their suggested directions. At no point did they inform us one of the museum (Air and Space) was temporarily closed. The concierge team also did not inform us of street closure for Memorial Day parade, thus not convenient to take an app shared ride. We smelled smoke in our unit on our first day. So an engineer was sent up to inspect our A/C unit but found no issue. However, in the evening while we set our thermostat to 68 degrees, heat was coming out. We had to have another engineer pay us a visit and change the whole unit to a different one (while we were all in the room). Also on the 2nd day of housekeeping, our double beds were made but not the pull-out couch. It was just left the way we had it, but it was properly made the first day. Breakfast in the restaurant was decent, staff was nice.…
We went with another couple - we stayed using our Marriott Bonvoy points and they used Vacation Club points to stay on the Pulse level (floor 7). We both had suites and the rooms were very similar. We were all Titanium level, but they could not utilize any benefits since they were on a Pulse stay. It seems that there were some disadvantages to staying with Marriott Pulse points. While my husband and I each enjoyed a $27 credit for breakfast, they had to pay for their breakfast - a policy that had recently changed in January 2022. We enjoyed early check in and also late check out while Pulse rooms stay strict to check in and check out times. Upon their check in, apparently the clerk forgot to ask them for their credit card, so the hotel locked them out of their room until they came to desk to show credit card. When questioned, the manager told them it is “hotel policy”. There was no received warning or communication from hotel before they were locked out. The Edgar room staff and valet staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Be aware that DC taxis are significantly cheaper than Ubers - almost half the price.…
The employees at this hotel are extremely nice and helpful. The hotel area where the banquet rooms are is beautiful I booked a king room it was tiny. I had a King size frame and with a queen size mattress. My party of 8, 4 rooms spent two nights and got together in the bar, each night. on the second night, we were charged for food in the amount of $16 when we didn't order any food, when we inquired we we told the food charge was for the lemon they brought out for water that wasn't asked for and for the coffee beans in my daughter in laws espresso martinis. We were charged for the drinks and then as the waitress said a separate charge for garnishment. That was interesting and a charge I never have heard of. Their wifi does not work, it didn't work for any of our group. I was unable to use my keyless entry, thank goodness my husband had a key card for the room. My shower had stains around the shower faucet , and that was kind of gross. Someone in our party had to change rooms because the AC didn't work. Two rooms had issues with the bathroom toilet getting backed up. There are a lot of nicer hotels to stay in the area. i was looking forward to staying there but don't think i will go back.…
Good hotel, nice lobby and mezzanine. No coffee maker in room, but coffee available in lobby until 10:30am. Clean rooms, good pillow and confortable beds. good location, close to the red and blue line. Check in a breeze with the bonboy app. Our room was ready at 10am!!! Overall as expected from Marriott. Would go back
The Mayflower is supposed to be a legendary hotel. I stayed here over the weekend on business and for the most part, was disappointed overall. I'm a Bonvoy member, travel frequently for work, and expected a higher quality experience. The room was an okay size but somewhat dated. The bathroom was especially dated, with tub not draining properly. There was no coffee or glassware in the room, just plastic cups. I often send out UPS packages at the front desk when I travel. It's never been a problem at any Marriott but at the Mayflower, they couldn't do it. The restaurant closes at 2:30PM on Sundays. These are all things I find disappointing at this class of hotel.
I am a loyal Marriott Bonvoy Customer, and have stayed in autograph collection hotels all over the world. The Mayflower used to be a favorite, both for quality and customer service, but apparently those days are over. I booked a premier King, and when I arrived I was shown to a room that was so small I couldn’t roll my suitcase past the bed. All of the furniture was lined up on one wall because there was nowhere else to put it. The bathroom was an old 1960 step in tub. After I complain to the manager, I was moved to a room with two double beds, a little bigger but the same decor And tacky old bathroom. Interestingly there is no outlet at all in the bathroom, and no mirror in the bedroom. So if you want to do your hair, you need to have a coal-fired curling iron, or work by braille. The manager told me that there is a large convention in the hotel right now and my type of room would not be available. But it was available three months ago when I made the reservation, and it was what was confirmed. Unless you’re with a big group that is having a meeting here, skip this place. For what they charge here, there are many nicer hotels in Washington.…
