Love the room and location but the street noise is obnoxious. It’s so loud you think the windows are open. Do appreciate the black out shades. Also a fan of the closet/counter area. Plenty of room for all your clothes and suitcases.
We've stayed at this location before and it never, ever disappoints! Great location, close to many excellent restaurants, short walks to Metro or even straight down 16th to the White House Mia at check in treated us wonderfully, so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Every member of the staff goes above and beyond expectations and represents the Kimpton brand so well. We have stayed at many Kimpton locations but this is one of our absolute favorites. Large, well appointed and clean room, yummy breakfast at Le Sel and fun wine hour. Great time to meet fellow travellers and compare experiences. This hotel does everything right. We will see everyone there again very soon!
The hotel itself is a typical Kimpton, not my favorite brand, quite frankly, but the location was very convenient for us. Everything was ok, though. What really impressed me is that I complained about the resort fee (I just read an article in the WSJ about it), stating that I could not use any amenities due to my handicap (basically the only "amenity" is the gym; hotels have been getting away with murder with these fees recently). The usually sticky fee was waived immediately.
I loved staying here! Every single member of the staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable and much bigger than I expected. This location is great and close to everything you might need whether coffee, CVS, Whole Foods, or many restaurants and shops on 14th street. Location is also close to White House, museums, etc if you’re up for a walk or a quick Uber ride.
I'm a kimpton/now IHG member. I've stayed in many kimptons over the years. Honestly, never better service and experience than this. I have returned many times to this property but this last stay in particular was wonderful. The rooms are well appointed, clean and very quiet (high room/away from elevator). You can get a coffee maker in your room but also always downstairs in the am too. The gym could use some more bands and dumbbells but otherwise perfect on cardio. Free water everywhere. Yoga mats in room. I use all of these things in my stay:) Finally, the staff are simply lovely- every single person I interacted with were amazing- from service to just attitude and vibe. Maia was amazing. Will return! Thank you so much!
The one kinda bad thing about the hotel: No sign that could be easily seen from a car. Because of that lack, we drove by the hotel five times. That really burned the location into my memory so it will be easy next time. (As you drive up 16th Street, NW, heading toward Silver Spring, you will come to an underpass if you go straight, or you will bear right and stay on 16th without an underpass. And that little right is where the hotel is.) The room was handsome and sported the various Kimpton touches, including a hand-held steamer for getting wrinkles out of one's clothes. Good bathroom. Nice bed/mattress. Good pillows. Fab decor overall. We've used Kimptons for many years. It's delightful to see that the IHG buy-out has not changed the chain's personality. We tried the restaurant only for breakfast: DELICIOUS!…
I am Diamond IHG and stay 80 nights a year at IHG properties. All KIMPTONs have required standards and do not charge resort fees. The “resort fee” is not expressly on IHG site like Palaazo or Venetian. You will pay approx 30 more a day for illusory resort fee. The restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday night and they didn’t have standard bottle water. Instead they charged 6 a bottle. The staff was great but the property is located right next to Mass avenue (translating to heavy early morning traffic noise and not great sleep). I stayed at KIMPTON George in October. Great staff, great restuarant, happy hour wine and everything else Banneker claims for resort fee without the resort fee. I spoke with GM of Banneker and he admitted that their resort fee is offered at all other KIMPTONS and here is the catch. The others do nOT charge daily resort fee. They should just increase hotel price and remove this Nickle and dime illusory price. Trust me Kimpton George is a much better alternative from a trust cost and non Nickle and dime experience.…
The room is nice, big and clean. It is a beautiful property in our mind. We enjoyed our stay overall and location is perfect for what were planning to do on our one night stay there. However, there are many things that we felt was lacking. We felt duped by Mia at reception. While she seems nice and friendly, we felt she misled us on certain thing. I have emailed the GM regarding this. Also, considering this hotel charges $25+tax ammenity fees, for winter time, it is definitely lacking. I emailed the GM prior to my stay there, knowing I needed to request Nespresso in the room if you even want a coffee maker in the room. There was none there. We just didn't feel like asking further, we just decided to get something outside and just wake up and get ready earlier in the morning. We are not confrontational family and won't complained unnecessarily. As long as it is not a major issue, we would just adjust and move on. For us that have taken several overnight stays in DC and will definitely make future 1 to 2 nights stay in the future, while this hotel is beautiful, the service has left a sour note, we probably wouldn't go back there and will either stay with other hotels that we have stayed at in DC or look for another hotel.…
I don't think I can put into words how amazing the staff has been. They are kind, considerate, caring, and so much more. Carter, DeMarcus, Kaylah, and Mia, all create an astounding team. Each of them have always made me feel so welcomed. I never thought I would be loyal to a hotel, until this staff came together. Even the housekeeping and valet are wonderful, hardworking, and dedicated. I cant thank you all enough for making every stay special. You all go above and beyond for everyone and I want you all to know how amazing and appreciated you are. IGH should use this staff as an example for all of their locations; exemplary service, immense attention to detail, and a team that you can see works as a team. This team radiates effort and dedication. Every time I see a team member interacting with a customer they always present themselves with positivity and enthusiasm, which creates the most desirable environment to be in. They all deserve nothing but the best. I will be back over and over again. The service and team is what makes a hotel great. This hotel may be categorized as a 4 star hotel but, because of the staff, it gives the energy and environment of a 5 star hotel. Thank you all again for create an amazing experience and environment to be in. Healthy wishes, Cathleen and Winston…
We enjoyed a very nice getaway at the Kimpton Banneker with three other couple. The hotel is very clean and nicely furnished. The shower could have been a bit stronger. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts every morning. Every single employee we encountered was polite, pleasant, extremely helpful. They really made us feel welcome and special. Two employees in particular were outstanding and deserve a shout-out: Kaylah at the front desk who helped us navigate from Dupont Circle to the hotel and Abdul who helped us at every turn in unloading our luggage, parking our car and more. Thank you Kimpton Banneker!
