I wasn't sure what to expect since this was a special deal my friend booked through Expedia. The photos on line simply do not do this lovely hotel justice.
Looks and charm go a long way. The lobby, restaurant and rooms are visually striking. There is a Chinese theme throughout. We later learned that at one point, the building was a Chinese church. It is evident that much thought and planning went into the décor. As far as charm, each and every employee from the front desk personnel to housekeeping, wait staff and even the door man who urged us to borrow umbrellas was friendly, helpful and accommodating.
The location was ideal for us since we are walkers. Many of the museums are roughly a mile to 1.5 miles away.
Our lovely room was small but spotless and comfortable.
That said, there were some disappointments.
A coffee maker and microwave were absent. There was a small fridge and safe in the Chinese themed armoire but this these took up some of the necessary space we needed for clothing.
Breakfast was not included. We did enjoy eating a traditional breakfast in the hotel's formal restaurant but if we had use of a coffee maker and microwave, that additional expense would not have been necessary.
According tp a menu posted at the bar, we might have had a selection of perhaps 10 or so items for dinner. The reality was different. The bartender informed us that they had not received a delivery. Salads plus a few other listed items were not available. We wound up having one of the few meals actually available - pizza, It was good but not my first choice.
The biggest surprise came late afternoon the following day after our arrival. We returned, rushing and eager to prepare for our evening out, only to find wet used towels and an unmade bed. The front desk forgot to tell us that unless we request housekeeping, we would not receive it. Fortunately, the housekeeper quickly brought us fresh towels and was quite gracious despite my obvious annoyance.
Yet, these disappointments are all minor. We would love to stay at the charming Morrison- Clark again. As stated above, looks and charm go a long way.

For seniors on a budget the Morris Clark Inn, was priced at $154 which included
Parking. For anyone checking rates in DC this was a real bargain made even more
Perfect by the service and lovely Interiors. Previously built as a private home by Asian Merchant everything about the property was understated yet elegant.

The valet upon are arrival was attentive and focuses on our first impression
The front desk attendant graciously upgraded us to a larger corner Room.

The public rooms were all quiet during summer so we felt we had the place to ourselves. The Breakfast room could not have been more beautiful, what a
Great place to start your day. American breakfast $15.

This is considered a boutique hotel. We will be back next summer so should you.

Nothing in life is perfect, but if you want a stay in DC that comes close at a reasonable price, you should consider staying here. I stayed for two nights in July, and it was wonderful. It is in a central location. Just a 5-minute walk from the Convention Center and a major metro stop (Mt Vernon Sq 7th St-Convention Center). From this metro location, you can travel around DC with relative ease. It was easy to get to and from the airport. The room was clean, neat, and cozy. The staff was charming, attentive, and willing to help at all times of the night. I will keep this place in mind the next time I decide to visit DC. If you check out and need a place to store your luggage, that is a service offered, just ask anyone at the front desk.

Note: Valet parking is offered. There is a separate charge (~$45) to park.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of May and we weren't disappointed. The price was very reasonable and it is in a good location. We arrived VERY early on a Sunday morning but they had a room available for us, plus they gave us an upgrade and 2 vouchers for breakfast.

The restaurant was lovely. The menu wasn't big but the food was very good and reasonably priced.

We would definitely stay here again.

I was excited to try this place because it got great reviews. I even paid 25% extra than staying at another hotel near by. But, i a bit disappointed by the room. No bottled water. Bathroom light broken, someone came to repair the light and it’s still broken likely due to faulty wiring. No bath plug to take a bath. No light by the shower so all very dark. And stains on the furniture. The view is nice and the area convenient. Service was nice too. Bath products are cheap—knock off bath and body works which was quite surprising. And again, no bottled water or anything. Hotels and inns are about the amenities otherwise I would’ve chosen an Airbnb. Disappointed.

Our two nights at the Morrison-Clark Hotel were the perfect urban getaway! The property is exquisite, very well-maintained and nicely appointed, with some gorgeous public areas, including an enclosed courtyard space and a lovely lobby. Staff were welcoming and extremely helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our stay. Our ‘parlor’ room was comfortable, spotless and extremely quiet. Location is perfect—a quick walk to museums, restaurants, and the Metro. Recommend highly, and hope to return soon.

We had a wonderful stay at the Morrison-Clark and would definitely stay here again. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful.
My only complaint is about the parking fee. I had the choice of booking a "Stay and Park" rate for $25 more than the AAA nightly rate. I looked at many hotels in DC to decide where to stay and. as expected, every single one that had a "Stay and Park" rate quoted a combined rate for the hotel stay plus parking. However when I arrived at the hotel the desk staff informed me that the "Park and Stay" rate only entitled me to a $20 discount off the hotel's regular fee of $42 a night and I still had to pay the remaining $22 per night in addition to what I'd already paid for the "Park and Stay". No amount of discussion would change their mind. So in the end I paid $25 for a $20 discount - absolutely not worth it and, in my opinion, deceptive advertising. I suppose by booking the "Park and Stay" rate the hotel was reserving a spot for me, but parking in DC over a weekend is easily available and, again, was not worth losing money over.

From front of house to back…truly a wonderful stay. Early flight into DC from DCA, took the Green Metro to near hotel. Easy walk up to near L and 10 th. Safe neighborhood and around corner from convention center . Upon entering we assumed since we got in so early that we would just let doorman store our bags and we would grab brunch nearby. To
our surprise, a room was available and the front desk personnel were absolutely a pleasure. Hotel
room is very spacious with a small fridge, desk, sitting chairs, safe and huge bathroom. Room cleaned daily which is not all that common anymore. We had a queen bed and the thread count and pillows were perfect. In mornings there is free coffee( no coffee maker in room) and cookies mid day. At night there is a nice quaint bar with seating for 8 or so. Never too busy but very inviting and bartender was outstanding. Courtyard is in the interior and looked very inviting but it was a bit too cool to enjoy. There are usually 2 doorman and valet to help with any request. Easy walk to anywhere in DC. Definitely will stay here again for a conference. I’ve stayed at the Marriott at Convention Center but it has an edgy business vibe. Morrison Clark is very warm and inviting. Only draw back was , one had to request an iron and ironing board but it was promptly delivered and not removed for the 3 days we were guests.

Wow! The hotel is beautiful and well maintained with a super helpful staff. There’s no question I’ll be returning to the Morrison Clark Hotel on my next visit to DC. Even though the valet parking was a bit pricey, they let me keep my car there until 2 PM on the day I checked out.

PS- sometimes the stairs are faster than the elevator.

I stayed at the Morrison Clark Hotel for a month because I needed temporary housing. I have stayed in Hotels all over the world. The MC is a special place. It has the friendliest Staff you will ever encounter. The moment you arrive, smiling doormen greet you and continue to do so each time you leave and return to the Hotel. From the Front Desk Staff to the Servers/Bar Staff and Management, they all want to make sure your stay is wonderful and excellent. The decor reflects a Chinese flair with beautiful artwork, furniture and accents. The meals served in the Restaurant [and available at the Bar] are delicious. I'd recommend the salmon and steak and grilled veggies for sure. On the Bar Menu, there are lots of great things [try the Morrison Burger, Pizza, Calamari, O-Rings and the appetizers]. The Hotel is downtown near the Convention Center and close to all the DC Attractions that you want to see. I look forward to staying there just for fun.
