The only positive thing about this hotel is location. It's a fair price and it's very close to the convention center. Breakfast options are very poor, the room was big but no hot water and very phonic insulation. And the gym was almost inexistent. There is like a treadmill, a stationary bike and a bench with a few weights in a room the size of bathroom (with no windows)
I come to DC monthly for work and decided to try this hotel instead of my normal hotel. I instantly regretted it. Let's start with the positives: The hotel looks nice, the rooms are big and room service is nice. Now here's the truth: Stay somewhere else! My first room (Room 222) was beautiful. But the air refused to work and it was 75 degrees in the room even though I had the temperature set to 69 degrees. Maintenance came twice, couldn't fix it, so they put me in a new room at 9 pm. My second room (Room 326) was DISGUSTING. There were two cobwebs hanging from the ceiling over the bed, a cobweb hanging over the TV in the bedroom area and another one hanging by the windows in that room. There were also multiple strands of hair on the sheets when I pulled the covers back. The temperature was stuck at 73 degrees even though maintenance set it to 69. I stayed up all night hot because the room never got cooler than 73. This morning, I got a good look at the room and was even more disgusted. There were two stains right by the bed and the vents were gray. Upon further inspection I realized it was dust. It looks like the vents haven't been cleaned since the Inn first opened. Then when I went in the bathroom I found two more strands of hair on the floor and a huge spider on the wall. When I was walking to the elevator I looked up and saw a dead spider hanging from a cobweb in front of the elevator. Needless to say I will never stay here again. It looks nice but it's nasty.…
Love the Morrison-Clark. We've stayed here several times in the last couple of years. The staff is excellent, the rooms are clean and elegant and the rates are a bargain. Located near the convention center, the hotel is a short walk to the Metro, downtown and great food. We'll be back again!
The accommodations and staff at Morrison-Clark were exceptional. The location is within walking distance of all the DC sites and the nightlife of downtown DC. The historic vibe of the hotel added to the ambiance of the city.
Excellent service, loved our room 412, comfy bed and nice views! Staff was always helpful and accommodating. We took advantage of the parking offered for an additional fee under the hotel. Everyone enjoyed breakfast of omelets and Belgian waffles in their restaurant.
This hotel is in a convenient location for bouncing around DC. It was value priced and I felt the accommodations were pretty nice. Room was large and clean, although a little worn. Common spaces were well done. Staff was friendly. All in, I’d definitely come back here and recommend it to others.
The check-in was quick, and we were able to go in early because our rooms were ready, which was a HUGE help. Everything was spotless and efficient. The room is small, but adequate, with a large wardrobe. The wifi worked fine. The doorman was very helpful in sending us to a very reasonable place for lunch--El Rinconcito, a tiny El Salvadorean diner around the corner. The location is perfect. It's possible to walk to the Mall and White House. I also very much like that checkout time is 12:00. And there are REAL, good-quality hangers that you can take off the bar for hanging up your clothes. We will definitely try to stay here again. Just glad there was room for us this time.
We loved every bit of our stay. Wonderful staff, clean, comfortable, cozy and quiet room, and amazing service! Stayed for two nights, enjoyed the breakfast menu, and loved their Asian inspired decorations. A true gem and we will be back!
I wasn't sure what to expect since this was a special deal my friend booked through Expedia. The photos on line simply do not do this lovely hotel justice. Looks and charm go a long way. The lobby, restaurant and rooms are visually striking. There is a Chinese theme throughout. We later learned that at one point, the building was a Chinese church. It is evident that much thought and planning went into the décor. As far as charm, each and every employee from the front desk personnel to housekeeping, wait staff and even the door man who urged us to borrow umbrellas was friendly, helpful and accommodating. The location was ideal for us since we are walkers. Many of the museums are roughly a mile to 1.5 miles away. Our lovely room was small but spotless and comfortable. That said, there were some disappointments. A coffee maker and microwave were absent. There was a small fridge and safe in the Chinese themed armoire but this these took up some of the necessary space we needed for clothing. Breakfast was not included. We did enjoy eating a traditional breakfast in the hotel's formal restaurant but if we had use of a coffee maker and microwave, that additional expense would not have been necessary. According tp a menu posted at the bar, we might have had a selection of perhaps 10 or so items for dinner. The reality was different. The bartender informed us that they had not received a delivery. Salads plus a few other listed items were not available. We wound up having one of the few meals actually available - pizza, It was good but not my first choice. The biggest surprise came late afternoon the following day after our arrival. We returned, rushing and eager to prepare for our evening out, only to find wet used towels and an unmade bed. The front desk forgot to tell us that unless we request housekeeping, we would not receive it. Fortunately, the housekeeper quickly brought us fresh towels and was quite gracious despite my obvious annoyance. Yet, these disappointments are all minor. We would love to stay at the charming Morrison- Clark again. As stated above, looks and charm go a long way.…
We tried this hotel for the first time since my son moved up to Massachusetts Ave. I decided on this place because of the reviews stating it was quiet. It was! The bed was comfortable . We enjoy walking, therefore easy walking distance to the Mall - about 8 blocks. We will stay again.
