We got there are 12.45 8/7/22, when we got there the gentleman on the desk said we had not booked them he acted as if he couldn't be bothered, bearing in mind our group had 4 young children with us ages 3, 4, 5 and 6. Eventually he got us rooms, mine was the penultimate room and I had the 3 and 4 year old with me. I went to my room and it had not been cleaned the beds were unmade, there was a bag of rubbish and a full bin. On top of this there were also stains in the kitchen area. I made the decision to call and mention it so the man told me to come back down. I got the children and went back to reception, he gave me another room and I went up to room 805. My card did not work so I tried it again, and again until a gentleman came out and said it was his room. I apologised and took my shattered children back down to reception, by this point it was nearing 2am and after being awake and travelling for over 24 hours everyone was tired. I was given another room, this one was nice but the door didn't lock so I piled the suitcases up in front of the door. Needless to say my stay was not the best. The doormen were very helpful and lovely, however I would not return to the hotel or recommend it to anyone else. J. Waterman…
Loved the hotel. Staff all friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant twice. Great service both times. Staff friendly and personable and helpful. It's in a central location and better than a national chain. It depends on what you want, but great amenities. Separate kitchen area. Dressing table outside bathroom. Worth a stay. Taxi from airport about $10 to $12 (not including tip) and takes about 20 minutes.
This hotel was really amazing! The character of the building is incredible and really made the trip experience that much better. The location of it is perfect. Not too far at all from the White House and near many restaurants. We went in the wintertime, and we really had a great experience from the staff service to the price, it was worth it! Definitely would recommend stopping by the super cute bar for a drink or meal... that room is really pretty!! The only drawback would be that there was a slight smell to our room, almost like moth balls? and our luggage and clothes smelled like that for much time after the trip despite washing.
Old hotel with a great location. Staff was very nice but let’s just say that their F,F&E was fully depreciated a long time ago. A/C rated a 4out of 10. The look but was probably very nice when new is still the same now as it was them!! If you have or want to be near GW, it would be adequate.
We spent two nights at the Lombardy Hotel, overall it was a pretty good experience, the Hotel is built in a very classical style but well maintained. Room was spacious with a large bed and a decent sized bathroom. Unfortunately the AC, while working pretty well, is also producing quite a bit of noise so sleep wasn't perfect, guess there is not much to be done about this so it really depends on whether you're sensitive to that kind of noise. Other than that very good Hotel and in an excellent location.
Hotel Lombardy was our home base for our week-long visit to DC and we could not have been more pleased with our choice. Positives: - Easy access to public transit with several subway stops within blocks and a bus stop across the street. - Cleanliness of both the hotel and the surrounding area. The area also felt very safe. - Lots of nearby restaurant options, including a food court across the street (sushi, Mediterranean, lobster rolls, Chipotle, ice cream, etc. and don't miss Duke's Grocery!) - Room size (we booked the executive parkview king) was fantastic with three separate areas in the room, including the kitchen/dinette area, the bedroom and work desk area, and the bathroom area which also had a little makeup table right outside so plenty of room for two to get ready. - View of Pennsylvania Avenue with the room we booked. We caught the VP's motorcade going by one evening! - Daily service in the rooms, including making up the bed, emptying trash, and providing new towels. This is something that many chain hotels have dropped with Covid, so kudos to Hotel Lombardy for providing it! - Restaurant and bar both on site - while we didn't have a meal at the restaurant, we did have dessert, and we had drinks in both places. Highly recommend. - Staff all seemed friendly and bellmen were very helpful with luggage transfer and snagging taxis for us. Negatives: - Noise: We never heard noise from other rooms, but this particular room is located right across the hallway from the elevator, so unfortunately we were woken up several times by rowdy people coming or going in the hallway that just didn't respect that fact that it was the middle of the night. Not the hotel's fault, but just be aware you are at the mercy of whether other guests choose to be respectful, especially with this room being so close to the elevator. Also, you may get some traffic noise at night with this type of room just because it is facing Pennsylvania Ave., but this didn't bother us much at all. The view is worth a little noise from the street. - Our tub didn't drain well. Not sure what the issue was. We reported it the very next morning after our first night there, but they never did seem to get it fixed. Hidden gem of the hotel: Mr. Mohamad, who works in Cafe Lombardy and occasionally in the bar. We met him one evening when we had drinks in the beautiful bar and enjoyed the conversation with him so much, we tried to make it a point to stop in for drinks/dessert in the restaurant each evening so we could visit with him a bit more. He was so genuinely friendly that we all felt like we'd made a new friend and we hope to see him again when we make another trip.…
The hotel is really well positioned on Pennsylvania avenue, near the White House etc. However, the hotel itself is well overdue for a refurbishment. It is alos generally very dark that I almost needed a torch to find my way around. We arrived late at night and checked in with a rather unfriendly night manager. We immediately had to change rooms because the aircon was not working. In the next room, the aircon worked, but very noisy, almost like thunder during the night. Room was spacious but the bathroom is so small that I could not get in to take a photo of it, and the bath towels are also tiny! On the positive side, (and contrary to other comments) we found the wifi connection excellent!
Lovely historic hotel, conveniently located for those who are in DC both for business and pleasure. Cozy room and comfy bed. I loved the a la card breakfast with just a perfect choice and portions. Services were great, staff very helpful and polite. Can highly recommend this hotel.
Best hotel ever! The staff were all super nice and helpful. The superior king room was large and comfortable, clean, clean, clean! Great bed and pillows! The breakfast was sooo good too! I think Mahammed make it super special! What a nice person!! Would stay again for sure!
From the moment we arrived until we departed we were treated and made to feel like royalty by all the employees and management. Valet parking services exceed expectations. The room was cozy with plenty of space. Your selection of room will determine your size and amenities. We were pleased. Room Service and the outstanding breakfast meal was befitting for a king and queen. The Dinner our party enjoyed was not only exquisite consumption but ongoing inquiries by the Restaurant Staff. The firewood burning fireplace could have replaced the heating system. But the selection of top shelf drinks made us all feel at home. Our Kudos to the Awesome Staff. We’ll be back soon.
