Our family stayed there for 1 week on our first Washington DC visit for New Year’s Eve. We arrived earlier than expected and they let us check around 12:30-1pm. The front desk was very polite and offered us a room with a better view the next day. The location can’t be better, at a walking distance of everything. The view is beautiful. The rooms are ok, nothing extraordinary. The AC/heater of the first one did not work properly but the one on the second room was good. The hotel is big and beautiful but I would say it is to functioning at full potential, with closed restaurants, the room service is not bad but could have a longer menu, especially for children. The price is very good.
We stayed for 4 nights in December while on a tourist trip to DC. Location is awesome, just a couple of steps from the National Mall and the White House. Hotel and room were spotlessly clean. Our room was on 5th floor with a side view of the Washington Monument and on 14th street. Room was really quiet at night, perfect. We paid a low rate compared to neighbouring hotels. Plenty of food options located around the hotel. Big plus was also that the Capital One Arena is in walking distance - we watched a game of the Capitals. Overall: perfect stay and I will return again.
For a 5 plus star hotel, this didn’t meet my expectations. Check in was quick enough, but the room was meh. The sliding bathroom door did not come to an acceptable stop. My handy husband had the right tool to adjust the stopper so the door wouldn’t slide beyond the door opening. The bathroom was missing basic amenities and small. Only hand soap was provided. The light switch was on/ off, has no dimmer to control the light when waking up from a slumber. Same for all the switches in the room. For the price, I’d go to a different hotel.
Got in around midnight after a long international flight with two teens, significant time change involved. When we inquired about food options when we checked in, we were invited to walk two blocks to Wawa to get food. We passed. Settled the kids into their room. I settled into my room and watched TV (still daytime where I just came from). About 3AM, someone pounded on my door. I asked who it is (female alone in my room in a large city), and they said security and I could find out why they were there if I answered my door. Two security guards, one pacing menacingly behind the other standing in the doorway. Said my TV was preventing other guests from sleeping because of the volume on the TV (volume was set at 14) and I needed to turn it down. I was shocked. There must be no sound proofing in these rooms. And why not just call my room. The response of pounding on my door and treating me like I had committed a crime was completely over the top. I called the front desk to ask what volume number on the aTV would be acceptable moving forward; no answer at the front desk. Nice Christmas Day welcome to DC from the Marriott. Do something about the quality of the rooms instead of criminalizing television watching in a hotel room. Unbelievable practices at this price point. We are Platinum Elite members and stay at a lot of Marriotts. We have never had this experience elsewhere.…
The service at this hotel far exceeded our expectations. This is the first review we have written, but we felt like we had to because of how amazing our trip has been. When we checked in, they could not accommodate our request to have the kids suite on our floor. They graciously upgraded us to the executive suite with an adjoining room. Having the living room is amazing and has added a great touch to our vacation. The room is clean, room service superb, and location is phenomenal! We have walked everywhere except the free shuttle to the wharf. We will be back to DC and we will stay here again! Oh, the 1331 bar and lounge pours great drinks.
