The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill is popular for its vibrant social spaces and cozy accommodations, with many guests commending the prime location near D.C. landmarks. While the rooms earn points for their spaciousness and cleanliness, some visitors suggest they could benefit from modern updates.
The hotel's staff is generally recognized for their courteous demeanor, but service experiences can vary. Cleanliness is a strong suit, albeit with minor notes on surface-level attention. However, the value proposition is contentious, as guests often frown upon hidden fees and pricey amenities.

Detailed Reviews
Beyond the usual stay, the hotel at no extra charge was willing to install sheets that had an extra rinse that I need to avoid detergent allergy- caused skin rash. No problem this trip! The front desk was very polite to me, though my wife felt not treated as nicely during the initial inquiry while I was waiting in the car for check-in using my name. I needed to be present as registrant. Thus, it would be good to provide space during reservation for spousal cross-referencing. The Tesla charging was offered and would have been great had it worked. Needed resetting, which did not occur within the 24 hours I was there. The room was set too cold upon entry. We set it a bit higher, but it reset to too cold after a few hours. Not a big deal though.

We found the hotel to be clean, friendly, quiet, and a good location for a family visit to the National Mall area. The pice for the room was very accessible for our family and we enjoyed the clean, well stocked pool area. We found other options for parking and dining that we're more affordable, however, these were only slight inconveniences given the price, cleanliness, pool, and location. We would stay again and will recommend it to others.

The hotel is in a great location, turning right out of the building you see the Capitol Building straight ahead. Our room was spacious but quite dated and the disabled access requested was not available meaning my husband struggling in and out of a bath with no grab rails which is really dangerous. The hotel bar was pricey however there was $10 per room per day to use, Staff seemed friendly enough and we enjoyed our time at the hotel and in Washington.

I am not typically a person to leave a bad review, but this hotel has a peculiar policy that others should be warned of. I was attending a 3-day work conference and checked in the first night around 7:30pm. Check in was smooth and front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was nice and clean. Around 10:30pm I heard housekeeping knocking on nearby doors, which seemed odd to me. After they left, I put my do not disturb sign on my door. Because of the short length of my stay, I did not feel I needed housekeeping, so I left the do not disturb sign on the door while I was gone for the day. After dinner, I returned to my room around 8pm. Shortly after, I got in the shower and turned on a podcast to listen to while I was showering. During that time, I could faintly hear knocking and talking, but had no way of knowing it was to get my attention and no reason to suspect that anyone would need to contact me. Because I didn't respond, hotel security broke through both locks on my door and entered my room while I was undressed in the bathroom (luckily I had closed the bathroom door). I was scared and confused and did not understand why they were there. After telling them several times that I just got out of the shower and was not dressed, they left. I got dressed and called down to the front desk to ask what just happened. They connected me with security, who said they were performing a "wellness check" because the do not disturb sign was on my door all day. I told them that seemed like a strange time of night to do a check and for a person who had only been there 1 night. They were unapologetic, so I just asked to be put on a list for housekeeping not to come by or perform any other checks. Still, I felt uneasy for the rest of my stay. No one tried to contact me in any other way before knocking while I was in the shower. And I have never heard of a hotel doing a wellness check barely 24 hours after someone checks in. The last day, I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which was good. When I checked out, the desk staff told me my meal was being comped because of the incident and this person was apologetic. I appreciated the gesture, but I will now likely doubt my personal safety at every hotel I stay at in the future because of this. I have never heard of a hotel doing this even for a whole week's stay. It makes me think that calling it a "wellness check" was a cover for something else. Apart from this event, everything else was fine.

Average amenities, overpriced everything.
People were nice .
Shower head was at 5foot 2 inches. The hotel was quiet for sleeping. The location was perfect.
Room service was served in plastic containers with disposable forks at a premium price. I’m not impressed. I thought it was going to be more luxurious for the price.
We would have been better off at a Holiday Inn.

We made our reservation weeks in advance and in our reservation requested a feather-free room because of a feather allergy. We had feather pillows and a feather blanket in the room. When we requested foam pillows we were told that there were none available in the entire hotel. Since we couldn’t have feathers on the bed we had no option other than to sleep without any pillows. Josette at the desk and Donald in housekeeping were very understanding and tried their best to help by providing extra blankets and offering us free drinks while we waited for the room to be flipped. The hotel was able to locate pillows for our second night, but the first night was miserable without any pillows. Other than this the hotel was decent, but not great. The friends we were with didn’t have dirty dishes taken out of their room when it was cleaned and were given a bar of soap that was crushed into about 5 pieces.

Other than its fortunate location, this is one of the most consistently disappointing hotels in the country and certainly the worst Hyatt I’ve experienced. Check in is always perfunctory and there is zero followup during the stay. It is common to be placed into an inferior room, of which there are quite a few. If you are put in 264 or 266, or in the equivalent rooms on any floor, you have every right to feel the front desk is punishing you. No bottled water is provided in the rooms and the tap water reeks of chlorine. On this visit housekeeping was not provided on my third day and I was told by staff that I was “not eligible” for clean glasses, towels or sheets. I informed the front desk and they said that wasn’t true but did nothing to rectify the customer service failure. Adding insult to injury, I am a Gold Member in World of Hyatt and my local employer has a corporate contract with the hotel.

Location is perfect for families or individual visiting for pleadure or business in the Capitol Hill area. We were staying for both purposes. The Capitol was a close 9 minute walk from the hotel for me to easily make it to my Congressional meetings and my husband and teenage son to enjoy the landmarks of Capitol Hill. The Union Station Food Court and other restaurants were conveniently nearby, making eating outveasy whether it was fine dining or quick service. The doormen were were quick to meet our needs whether hailing an accessible taxi, handling our luggage, or giving directions. The desk staff were helpful and were quick to handle any request we asked of them, being sure to have things delivered to our room in a timely manner. Our room was clean and housekeeping friendly.

Great location a few blocks from the US Capitol. Many quick bite restaurants within walking distance, but might need to drive for a hood sit-down meal. Parking is valet only $62 per night, or park in the garage for the Yotel across the street for $56.
Was surprised to have daily cleaning service. Many hotels have reduced cleaning frequency (usually blame covid). Hyatt online checking gave the options of every 4th day cleaning, or no cleaning until departure. However, they cleaned every day.
Very nice hotel and a pleasant stay

The rooms and linen were clean and spacious by hotel standards. The bed was comfortable. The staff--at the desk, in the hotel restaurant, at the concierge's desk, in the hotel gift shop, were uniformly warm, friendly, helpful and professional. But I have some small complaints. A facilities charge that I learned about at checkin. High floors are extra charge but my room did not have much of a view. No mini fridges or microwaves in the room. Not near grocery or drug stores and the gift shop does not sell distilled water. Network service was ocvcasionally spotty, at least on my phone. Food at the hotel restaurant was adequate but that is it, and menu was not terrific for vegans (but kitcehn was flexible and accommodating). No usb ports in room. And the desk chair was low and no height adjustment, which meant using the desk for someone on the short side was not comfortable. Overall, though, my stay was nice and my conference was held at the hotel, so the convenience made up for the modest shortcomings. I would consider staying again if I had business near the capitol.

Very easy to take train from airport to DC's Union Station, which is walking distance to Hyatt.
There was a mini fridge but I am unsure if it had a freezer compartment,
I also did not see a pool.
