The Viceroy Washington DC garners acclaim for its exceptional service, as staff members go above and beyond to ensure guest comfort. Its modern decor and inviting atmosphere, along with spacious rooms equipped with contemporary amenities, make it a standout. While some guests mention lighting and maintenance issues in rooms, the hotel's overall cleanliness and location, close to key DC sights and amenities, receive high marks. Reviewers appreciate the pet-friendly policy and on-site dining, though some caution about additional costs for early check-in and certain amenities.

We liked the boutique style hotel because we pulled up in our car and were in our room in a few minutes. We liked that there were wood floors in the walking area of the room, and an area rug in the bed area. My husband liked the oversized shower. We pack our own soaps and shampoo because we usually don't like the brands that hotels carry, but preferred the brand that the Viceroy supplied to our own.

I’ve been spoiled!

I stayed in DC for a long term business stay for the first time and stayed at the Viceroy for two weeks. Having lived out of luxury hotels in Beverly Hills and NYC in the past I was hoping for something as comfortable as my past experiences in DC and I will say that Viceroy will be my go to from now on.

The staff — the staff (especially Mike the front office manager) is extra accommodating, especially while maintaining very safe guidelines during COVID. Anything I needed - extra towels, TV guidance, favors - the front desk dealt with it immediately.

Clean + bed + spacious rooms — more than anything I always want a clean space to be in and a good bed to do my work and sleep in. The Viceroy rooms are immaculately clean, the bed is very comfortable (plush yet firm is the best description) and the room has enough space to feel zen without feeling lonely, a combo that I’m looking for particularly while on an isolated business trip.

Viceroy is good for the business professional who wants a serene and quiet accommodation while having a staff that knows you by name when you walk out and downstairs.

I’m at an Airbnb now due to a prior booking I couldn’t cancel but I really regretted it after staying at the viceroy and getting spoiled for two weeks!!!

I do not write reviews on hotels or restaurants, but I feel like I should have been warned of all the hidden costs. The amount of hidden fees in this hotel for what you get is insane. We were charged an extra $275 in fees after having a 3 night stay here. Luckily my credit card covered $100 in the fees and gave us a free night, but had we not had that benefit we would have way over paid for this hotel. Honestly its in an old apartment with a fresh coat of paint. It isn't bad, but the cost is not worth what you would get. Had I known that we would be charged $60 dollars a night for parking (there are no other parking options and they know this) I would have just stayed at a nicer hotel that included parking lol. Originally they told me its was $50 per night for parking, but when the bill came they added a $10 parking tax per night (20% parking tax seems interesting). The staff were nice and obviously its not on them, but seriously this hotel needs to rethink their business model. Will not be staying at any Viceroy hotel again. Btw the $275 in fees came from us using none of their resources or services aside from sleeping in their hotel. We didn't use any restaurant, room service, roof top bar, or pool (10 ft x 8 ft pool... 4 ft deep). Kudos Viceroy

The hotel’s location is very good and there is plenty of food, shopping, and entertainment nearby. The rooftop pool is the highlight of this establishment. There are good views of the city and lots of nice seating areas around the pool.
The rest of our experience was mediocre. The room was well appointed, but the bathroom could have been cleaner. There was no coffee or tea in the room, requiring you to buy it from the cafe by the lobby. You have to have your car valet parked because there’s no parking on site. You’ll want to request your car at a less busy time because the poor valet has to run a few blocks to a parking lot retrieve your car.

I stayed for one night in the King Suite with a ripped sofa, rusted metal toilet trash can, broken bathroom faucet and a none-existing mini bar fridge.

I booked through tablet hotels and there was no welcome gift surprise in the room, no breakfast availbe which was again a perk promissed by tablet hotels which the hotel was supposed to provide. Not even a single staff was wearing a mask and in general, you can stay anywhere in the city better than this venue.

Such a shame for the "Viceroy" name.

It was my pleasure to stay at The Viceroy and would certainly recommend it to family and colleagues.
My king studio suite was VERY spacious, nicely furnished and equipped. The bed extremely comfortable. Especially enjoyed the large well appointed bathroom with large glass walk-in shower supplied with quality hygiene products. Plenty of bath and hand towels and wash cloths. Probably the best appointed hotel bathroom this frequent traveler has experienced.
Suite was very quite and temperature control very stable.
The front desk staff were very friendly and professional. Check-in and check-out a snap. The deli staff were also very friendly and accommodating.
You can’t go wrong booking The Viceroy in DC.

When I arrived, I was told that I had not made a reservation. Took them 30 minutes to find my reservation.

Then, after a ridiculous wait, we get up to our room to find that the cleaning staff has left used rags on the desk. Unbelievable for a 4 star hotel.

On top of that, the amenities fee was not properly disclosed before the booming, so although I can easily afford the extra $25 per night, it felt EXTREMELY dishonest. Worse, the valet parking appears to have been in a public garage. If you don't have a private garage and are charging $50 per night for valet parking, you're wrong. I've paid businesses to hold my cars in their private garage and clean them before my arrival at a lower nightly rate than what I paid viceroy- it would have been less insulting if I didn't have to call 10 minutes in advance to have my car brought around. I am happy to spend money, but I do not feel like I am being scammed. Hiding expenses from me is not acceptable from a business. Be honest about what it costs and I will gladly pay for the experience!!

It's worth noting that the phone did not work properly, the shower was either full hot or cold, with no correspondence to the marking on the handle, and the google smart device by the bed was completely useless and could not answer basic questions. All small issues, but they add up when you're paying for a 4 star boutique experience.

Most importantly, the pool hours were disgraceful. What is the point of a rooftop pool and bar if it closes at 4pm!? I have meetings during the day! I work! I have stuff to do! I didn't come to DC to lounge by the pool during business hours. Open it up for the evenings so that guests can enjoy the rooftop at sunset!!

Hotel is in great location. Staff are professional, helpful and courteous. However, hotel was woefully understaffed: no restaurant, no cleaning or daily services in room, limited hours for pool. They charged the price for a boutique hotel; however, they offered none of the amenities. The staff was apologetic yet offered nothing to compensate for situation. They should have offered a discount, complimentary drinks, and an upgrade in the room to compensate for the lack of services that they acknowledged were due to limited staffing. I lay the blame with management for not empowering employees to offer satisfaction to clearly disgruntled guests.
