These are difficult times for the hotel business and I still have to travel during the pandemic. As such, everyone is doing the best they can and it is greatly appreciated. My visit at the Henley Park this week was a delight. Teshome (the hotel manager) was most welcoming and he offered a few local restaurant suggestions and also told me about the different room types. The other folks I encountered on property were also quite welcoming and helpful. I am a big fan of historic properties and it was nice to find that the beddings were in excellent condition and that the heat was most robust and effective. Also, the bathroom was spotless. The shower and bathtub were immaculate and the grout was in tip top shape (I used to be a hotel inspector, so I keep a close eye on such matters. A terrific visit and I shall be back!

This was my second time to stay at the historic Park Henley Hotel. Also stayed for 3 nights in September 2020 and I couldn’t have asked for a better service. Although I requested a room upgrade which was not granted in spite of available rooms, nevertheless the customer service was excellent from the front desk to housekeeping. The Security Guard could have been more attentive and gentlemanly by opening the door when he is standing behind it and he sees me walking towards the front entrance and hauling my suitcase. Flannery at the front desk was terrific. She gave wonderful recommendations on restaurants and directions. Maintenance was quick to replace a bulb in the bathroom, Housekeeping promptly delivered more drinking water bottles. a shower cap, and body lotion. Excellent value for a wonderful service. The room was extremely clean. The bed was comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was strong although a new shower head would improve water distribution. Also, an additional hand held shower head would have made showering a very good experience.

Over Labor Day Weekend this year, a dear friend and I were guests in room 406. While I could use an entire review to commend the lovely corner room, its comfortable bedding, and its clean and ample bathroom, I wanted to praise the service that I received from one person in particular, Ms. Flannery Barnes, their Director of Operations. That Saturday night, while leaving the hotel for dinner at Archipelago, I dropped my wallet five stories down the elevator shaft. I had been bragging about how thin my new Ridge Wallet was, and its entry into that small crevice was cleaner than Greg Louganis entering the water from the high dive at the Olympics! Needless to say, as I heard it bounce down that elevator shaft, my heart could have bounced with it. However, I trusted the RFID-blocking properties of the wallet and was even more assured, when Ms. Barnes told me in the lobby just moments later that she would get started right away on a low-cost of free solution to find my wallet…and that she did! Shortly after I arrived at dinner, Ms. Barnes rang to say that the free option – the one for which I had hoped – would occur if we waited for the monthly inspection. After a wonderful breakfast the next day at nearby establishment that she had recommended, I drove back home to await hopeful news of a coming elevator inspection. On Labor Day, she emailed to say that the inspector would be on-site that week for a regularly scheduled inspection; the next day, the wallet was in her hands with all my credit cards and bills intact. Two days later, the wallet was in my hands at my home. Not only is the Henley Park one of my favorite DC hotels within walking distance of so many of the District’s fine attractions and restaurants, but the outstanding service that I described above is standard for them. I look forward to returning when we can all take advantage of their restaurant (the Tavern) and impeccable room service.

Where to start? On arrival on busy Mass Ave in WDC after an exhausting 4 hr drive in traffic, the hotel's driveway was blocked-- they were fixing the driveway surface; no one had let me know in advance. I had to drive past the hotel and park in a no parking zone next door. I ran out to the hotel doormen who said they would help unload my car, so I ran to the car which was visible to them, but they just stood where they were and did nothing. The hotel was not busy; I was the only arriving guest at that time so they could have been free to help me. I had to drive around the block and park a block away and haul my bags (heavy) the block to the hotel. I wasnt happy. They staff all said the would help, but they didnt-- there was a disconnect between what they said and what they did. Finally, the manager came out and helped me by telling me where to find a place to park (my car was too tall for valet parking, probably the reason the staff were not too interested in helping me-- no tip for the parking). The manager was helpful. The rest of the stay was uneventful except for a few small things-- I was bitten twice during the night while asleep in bed by some kind of bug/insect. When I left, the doorman was incredibly aggressive about taking my bags; he barged in and was close to knocking me over. He then was incredibly rude to me as if I were to blame for my lack of appreciation or his aggressiveness. Rooms on south side should have been quieter, but they were amazingly noisy starting at 6AM, even on the 5th floor. The hotel is an old one; it is tired, but the price was okay. Still, this staff was poor, possibly due to cultural differences in attitude. I found out that it is owned by the same folks who own the Morrison-Clark Hotel, which also has staff problems (my opinion). I cannot recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel, beautiful decor, comfortable rooms. Staff was all great. Our room was a bit small, but nice. Perfect location. We were early for the cherry blossoms, but the hotel’s trees were blooming early.
