Fantastic hotel with staff that know what good hospitality is all about, from reception to the evening bar and housekeeping. My rooms was serviced wonderfully every day without fail even over the new year holiday. The location is great with lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby and even a long(ish) but pleasant walking distance to the national mall. Highly recommend all round.

Hotel's Favorite
I just got back from a work-related trip, 2 nights in D.C. I hadn't been familiar with the Ven but came across it in a search on Marriott hotels and it sounded unique - plus it was nearby where I needed to be. The location was great, although there's a lot of construction around, it was surrounded by gorgeous buildings and homes. The lobby was stylish and cool, one floor below is a small art gallery that's worth a quick look and two floors down from the lobby is a game room and the gym (I didn't use either but they looked very nice). My room was a nice size and it was lovely to see that they still believe in many amenities that other hotels have cut (supposedly due to covid). A substantial, nice-looking pen, mini pad of paper (such small things but missing from so many rooms nowadays) mini Nest products in the bathroom. When you check in they give you a few souvenirs to remember them by - you can probably read about the items in other reviews but I didn't know much about what to expect and was happily surprised so I won't provide the spoiler. The room did have an issue in that the HVAC was extremely noisy - when I mentioned it to the man at the front desk as I was on my way to see a colleague for dinner - they said they'd find me a comparable room that was quieter and we could figure it out when I got back. I really wish I'd gotten this wonderful man's name because he was so friendly. and warm - he did find me another room and I interacted with him the 2nd night too - I used one of the vouchers for food from the pantry since I'd missed the dinner hour, and he made sure I got full value, encouraging me to grab a few more snacks to hit the voucher amount. Just such a good front-facing representative for the hotel. I did catch another amazing employee's name, only because she helped the aforementioned man find me a quieter room (I believe she was his boss) and she happened to be there when I checked out today. Gave me a very warm smile, remembered my name. So I made sure to ask hers - Jennifer. She also is a fabulous representative for the Ven and Marriott. I used a voucher for breakfast today and the food was meh - they have a limited menu and it's basically some so-so pastries, fruit and they'll heat up pre-made sandwiches or breakfast burritos. But, that's my only complaint and I found enough to make it fine. The experience and service across the board definitely makes me recommend this to others - it's special!

I had the pleasure of staying at The Ven in Washington DC. Let me say that the service is fantastic and warm, everyone was so willing to do whatever was asked of them with pleasure. The Front office manager Lyle was a kind gentleman with a great smile and a great overall attitude. I would like to mention Wanda,Kathy, Kenneth, Fassil, Ahlem and Brian at breakfast. I recommend this hotel to anyone that is appreciative of great service and also for anyone exploring Washington DC, as it is in the heart of the city!

Just returned from a 1 week stay at this hotel. It’s fair to say the hotel has a lot of positives so let’s start with these. Location - Great location with DuPont Circle metro station very close by allowing you to travel around DC very easily. Staff - Great staff, particularly Jennifer (the manager), Kenneth (manager) and Donna in the bar/dining area. Entrance - A very modern and fresh entrance / reception / bar area. Food - Only had breakfast but we could not fault the food each morning. Unfortunately, we did encounter some issues during our stay however Jennifer & Kenneth were quick to put these right for us. The issues mainly centred around noise. There are roadworks ongoing directly outside the hotel which start at 7am each morning (except Sunday). I appreciate that this is out with the hotels control but very disruptive nonetheless. The buttons in the lifts are so worn you can barely read them so rather frustrating. I was glad to see other guests struggle with this too so it wasn’t just us finding it difficult. We initially had a room on the second floor. 3 nights in and we had to ask to be moved. The noise of room doors banging and being slammed was frequent. Not sure why other guests just can’t close their doors quietly? The hotel should explore soft closing mechanisms on the room doors which would solve the issue. The water flow from the sink in this room was also very poor and the AC unit was incredibly noisy, so much so we had to switch it off. We were then moved to a room on floor 6 which we were extremely grateful to Kenneth for sorting out. Internally the room was nice & Modern looking but lots of minor faults that we wouldn’t expect. Bedside light not working, USB station on desk not working, dirty shower curtain, loose plug sockets on wall and again a noisy AC unit. To be fair we didn’t report these to the hotel at the time as we felt we did t want to continually find fault, so just made the best of what we had. We were provided with some snacks and breakfast vouchers due to the issues experienced with our first room - Thank you as these were gratefully appreciated. Overall the hotel was ok for us as we barely spent anytime there but the minor issues we experienced let it down. The staff did what they could to help improve our stay which was great. Would I return? Due to the number of issues - probably not and would likely try elsewhere. All in all a 6/10 for us however I’m sure once improvements are made, staying at the hotel will be a much more comfortable experience.

Dear Mr. Darren Craig H., thank you so much for taking the time to complete this detailed and thoughtful review. I have shared it with my management team to understand better why we did not ensure the second room to which you were moved was perfect before moving you. You are very kind and understanding but I know you will agree that these minor inconveniences are just not acceptable for the first guest room, much less the second! We have taken that room out of inventory to fully address the items you mentioned and will ensure that this lesson is learned! We never want our guests to have to find things that need to be fixed; we should be finding them in advance before anyone is checked into the room. We are committed to providing an excellent experience and really appreciate your patience with us as we work towards that end. If I can ever assist with anything in the future, please know that I am at your service. Thank you again for the feedback, we will put it to good use! Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful holiday season! All my best, Jennifer

I came here on a business trip with my colleagues. Wanda and Aeilen from the front desk was exceptionally helpful and patient with each of our requests. Even the housekeeper that cleaned out my room helped me carried some of my luggage to the elevator. The Ven definitely hired the right people for their staff. The room was also clean and very beautiful. The food at the restaurant was also unique and tasted amazing. Overall, a wonderful experience.

I have been traveling for 50 years and know a good hotel when I visit one. I have been to The Ven before but during my current trip I was extraordinarily impressed by the personal interest I saw that was taken by Assistant Manager Lyle Ochoa. He was not just helpful but kind, hands-on and did every extra mile that was asked of him. He was prompt, efficient and very caring. I will also like to mention Kathy, the front desk agent who was quick and knew her job. I had left my credit cards on the front desk while checking-in and she made sure that they were returned to me before I could discover this. I hope that The Ven know what assets they have in these individuals. I highly recommend The Ven to anyone looking to stay in Washington DC.

Hotel location is fairly good - walkable distance to all main attractions and close for public transport. Our room was comfortable, although space was limited in the bathroom. We were on the 4th floor and it was not very well insulated from noise. One morning we were woken at 6:15am by the people in the next room talking, laughing - it was like they were in our room. Room was looking tired and in need of some care & attention - big hole in the net curtain, toilet cistern that intermittently wouldn’t stop running water noisily, loud air conditioning unit, mirror peeling off backing, hole in towel, air vent not securely on wall in bathroom, wallpaper coming off, grouting not clean, etc. Could be a lovely hotel, but needs maintenance. If we came back to DC we would choose somewhere else to stay and I wouldn’t recommend it to family & friends given the choice of other hotels in Washington DC.

Very pleasant hotel with helpful staff. Nice bar. Ideally positioned for travel by public transport. Lots of restaurants nearby, you just need to know how to find them. Room was well kept and quiet even though we were at the front of the hotel. Would stay there again.

First time at the Ven at the advice of a friend who is a frequent guest. As most reviews will say, it is a lovely boutique hotel and the location. The standout areas are friendly staff, comfortable bed, nicely decorated room with a high-end feel. And, here's a surprise, a very reasonably priced breakfast menu of quality items. My $3 oatmeal was good and plentiful with cinnamon, brown sugar and raisins. Other reviewers noted the small bathroom but that didn't bother me as it was functional and very nice. The major issue for the 4-stars are the small details like lack of accessible and fully functional power outlets, use of paper and plastic cups, and noise overlooking Massachusetts Ave. None of the usb power ports worked. There is only one power outlet on the table/dresser next to the beds. It is too close to the bed on the right making it hard to plug in and the usb power did not work. It's a lovely room and the paper and plastic cups degrade the experience. It's really minor but other high end hotels have nice ceramic mugs and glass wear. I had a nice view overlooking the front of the hotel only to be ruined by the early construction noise. Not something the hotel can control but it did affect my stay. And, the roof-top area is closed but not a major issue. However, the positives do overcome all this and I would come back if I wanted to be in this vibrant area.

Hi SVRyder, thank you for your review! I appreciate the positive notes and will work on the issues that you mentioned, especially those power outlets! That is annoying for sure, we all need to keep our devices going strong when we travel. We do have additional outlets that we can provide in the event that those built in's are not working properly and we are working on a plan to fully replace them in the coming months. Our street construction project is in the home stretch and we can't wait for the beautiful new Massachusetts Avenue to be in place, hopefully sometime in the next few weeks. It's been a LONG project, not always noisy but always ugly! and we are excited for the new clean avenue that we'll soon get to enjoy. We can always assign rooms on the other side of the building for anyone that wants a lovely and quiet DC neighborhood view in the meantime. Please do thank your friend who is a frequent guest for their recommendation and please do plan to come and stay with us again soon! All my best, Jennifer

We decided to try the DuPont Circle area and The Ven at Embassy Row exceeded our expectations. Beautiful neighborhood. Convenient location with great restaurants in walking distance. The rooms are smaller but very nice. Lobby offers a full service bar and breakfast. The most impressive aspect of our stay was the friendly and courteous service of the staff. The front desk , valet , bartenders and everyone we encountered helped to make our stay the best possible.
