Bought a day pass for the pool and was a little skeptical based on the minimum reviews. Went on a weekday during work hours and it was practically empty. It was very clean and the staff was very attentive. Pool is small but perfect for a dip on a hot day. Is a bit expensive but is fun for a day of splurging and its worth it with the $50 credit. Was nervous that the perks wouldn't be real but was able to get the $50 credit for food and drink but it worked just had to tell them you had a day pass and they did the credit. Frozen alcoholic drinks and all the food I had was yummy.

It sounds like you had a relaxing day at the pool, and I'm so glad! Can't believe summer is already drawing to a close. We will have day passes available as long as the weather allows, and we'll stay open for afternoon drinks and parties through the fall, so please don't be a stranger! We'd love to have you back at The Rooftop anytime. Thanks for your kind review. All my best, Jennifer

I just got back from a work-related trip, 2 nights in D.C. I hadn't been familiar with the Ven but came across it in a search on Marriott hotels and it sounded unique - plus it was nearby where I needed to be. The location was great, although there's a lot of construction around, it was surrounded by gorgeous buildings and homes. The lobby was stylish and cool, one floor below is a small art gallery that's worth a quick look and two floors down from the lobby is a game room and the gym (I didn't use either but they looked very nice). My room was a nice size and it was lovely to see that they still believe in many amenities that other hotels have cut (supposedly due to covid). A substantial, nice-looking pen, mini pad of paper (such small things but missing from so many rooms nowadays) mini Nest products in the bathroom. When you check in they give you a few souvenirs to remember them by - you can probably read about the items in other reviews but I didn't know much about what to expect and was happily surprised so I won't provide the spoiler. The room did have an issue in that the HVAC was extremely noisy - when I mentioned it to the man at the front desk as I was on my way to see a colleague for dinner - they said they'd find me a comparable room that was quieter and we could figure it out when I got back. I really wish I'd gotten this wonderful man's name because he was so friendly. and warm - he did find me another room and I interacted with him the 2nd night too - I used one of the vouchers for food from the pantry since I'd missed the dinner hour, and he made sure I got full value, encouraging me to grab a few more snacks to hit the voucher amount. Just such a good front-facing representative for the hotel. I did catch another amazing employee's name, only because she helped the aforementioned man find me a quieter room (I believe she was his boss) and she happened to be there when I checked out today. Gave me a very warm smile, remembered my name. So I made sure to ask hers - Jennifer. She also is a fabulous representative for the Ven and Marriott. I used a voucher for breakfast today and the food was meh - they have a limited menu and it's basically some so-so pastries, fruit and they'll heat up pre-made sandwiches or breakfast burritos. But, that's my only complaint and I found enough to make it fine. The experience and service across the board definitely makes me recommend this to others - it's special!

Our room was smaller than expected, but not unreasonably so. Overall it was very clean, the staff were lovely and thoughtful. Our tub was a bit squishy like water got in between the original and the "tub fitter" on top. On our last day we noticed the bathroom feeling was dripping from around the light. We brought it to the attention of staff who sent someone right up. The rooftop was a cute little area with good drinks and a small but enjoyable pool and the atmosphere was lovely. One night around 10pm DC PD knocked on the doors of the rooms on our floor asking people to open up and then telling us to put hands up while they searched the room with an officer with a rifle one with a shield and 2 in the hallway. They reported that there was a report of someone with a rifle in the building. They quickly searched our room and left. The next day we followed up with hotel staff who said the report originally came from a guest to the manager. Being cautious the manager called the PD. No one and no weapons were found. I appreciate that they took the report seriously, however I do wish that they had followed up with guests to let us know that everything was fine. A note under the door would have worked since it was late. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Close to metro and plenty of restaurants.

Thank you so much for staying with us and for your recommendation! I am so glad that you enjoyed your time with us, despite the challenges you mentioned and the eventful night that you experienced! I am sorry that you did not receive the note I sent to all of our guests who were in house on the night of the incident; I did send an email but did not do a note to the room and I should have! if we did not have your email information, you would not have received the update. Thank you for that reminder for me for the future. Our team did such a great job responding to an emergency call and assisted everyone with calm and professionalism, and our guests were so amazing and understanding. I appreciate you for leaving a full and balanced report, and I do hope that we see you again, although I have to say, I hope your next stay is a little more boring, ha! Thanks again, Jennifer

The Ven is a brand new hotel right on Massachussets Ave, a couple of blocks away from Dupont Circle. The hotel is nice, the rooms are big and the staff is friendly. However, I would note a few things and give the hotel a few months to settle in before you consider it: 1. There are constant events in the lower floor. I was on a vacation with my daughter and they took 15 minutes to take care of me because all the staff was busy with the event. If you want something quiet and relaxing, the Ven is not for you. 2. There is very loud construction outside. I simply couldn’t rest because they start at 7 am and you literally hear the jackhammer in your ear. The hotel should warn customers of this when they make their reservations. 3. Many services, like the breakfast (service is crammed and disorganized), and the WiFi (it was down for most of our stay) need better attention - especially for business travellers. All in all, a nice hotel that I might visit again at some point but, with so many options in DC, I will wait on.

Thank you for your kind review and understanding about the bumps in service we experienced during your visit. We understand how critical a seamless wifi experience is for our guests and ensured that our provider was onsite right away to address the piece of equipment that failed. We do not expect any further issue but of course are in close contact with our provider to ensure that is indeed the case. We have just changed our breakfast menu to include both grab and go and hot a la carte options and we will continue to refine the experience until our guests tell us we've hit the mark every time. The street construction on Massachusetts Avenue is normally not disruptive, although it does create a very unappealing curb, and I have reached out to the contractor to request notification whenever they anticipate any noisy work. We will do our best to pass information that along to our guests. I am hopeful you will choose us again on a future trip, and confident you will have a wonderful experience! Please feel free to reach out if I can assist with anything at all. Kindest regards, Jennifer

The room are maybe a bit small, but the location is good and just far enough away from Dupont Circle to be quiet enough. My checkout experience in the morning with Wanda was as we hope it will be. Quick, someone with a smile, and accurate. Thanks Wanda for your nice approach.

Travelled to the Ven on a Sunday from the UK earlier in June. Arrived into Dulles Airport and paid about 60 dollars in an Uber to the hotel. Being a weekend the traffic was light. The reception area had a nice buzz about it and the staff recognised that we had travelled for many hours. Check in was swift and room keys given. The room was spacious and stylish. I couldn't fault the room or comfort. We had a twin room (double double). After a freshen up we headed to the rooftop and enjoyed a cold drink. Views over the city and a lovely swimming pool and some tables and chairs and some sunbeds (and a bar). We only really used the hotel as a base to explore the city, but were really glad that this was the hotel we chose. Another real bonus was that the expected 'resort fee' has apparently been scrapped so that saved us over 60 dollars per room. Bars and restaurants in the area were close to walk to. We travelled around by Uber on the whole to speed things up (and were fortunate being a group of 4 so the bill was split four ways). Travelled on from Ronal Regan Airport to Fort Lauderdale. The ride was 25 dollars and about 15 mins. A great hotel in a great location and we managed to get it at a really good price.

The positives: location is ideal (at Dupont Circle in one minute), and the rooftop pool is a nice rest in the heat. However, this is a mid-tier hotel otherwise. The lobby is vast and stark, with an uninviting bar area and really just a lot of empty space (compare this to the lobby bar-restaurant at the nearby Dupont Circle Hotel, which is incredible). You would not even know food is available, because there is nothing close to suggesting or advertising it. City hotel lobbies are supposed to be nice areas for working, grabbing a snack or a drink, etc. This lobby is a pass through. "Food" available at the rooftop bar includes bags of chips or wrapped ice cream, and the drinks are only beer or wine (compare this to the Austin Marriott at which the rooftop is a full size pool, bar, and restaurant). Service was responsive to issues, but not enthusiastic or overly guest oriented. There was a water issue in the hall floor and they did offer to move us but it was our second to last of six days. An event took place one night (without any advertising) and guests coming in to the lobby felt like they should not be there. For the price there are many better city options. Marriott needs to update this place to be on par with other nearby hotels. Just for perspective we are Bonvoy elite, which is why we choose Marriott hotels in lieu of other nearby properties.

I'm so sorry you did not find the public areas welcoming, and will address the issues of poor communication in regards to events with our team. We absolutely want to be 100% guest oriented, and I'm so disappointed you did not feel that way during your stay. Really appreciate your feedback and have already set to work to put it into practice. Clean hotel, rather tiny rooms not all equipped with a fridge. Very loudy staff in the corridors. A/c is very loud too. Awful breakfast; everything taste plastic. No buffet breakfast, it’s really the weakest point of the entire hotel, although the breakfast man is super kind and helpful. Super friendly desk staff as well.

Thank you for your thoughts on your visit. I am sorry for the shortfalls in service you experienced and will remind our team members to use their library voices in the corridors! I have also shared your thoughts on the breakfast offering. We are meant to be a coffee shop style breakfast and not full buffet, but however the style, we do want the food taste and quality to be top notch. I appreciate your feedback and hope that you would join us again for any future DC trip. Many thanks, Jennifer

I haven't checked into the Ven yet, but my experience already surpassed my expectations when it comes to customer experience. I've been a loyal Marriott member for years and choose to stay at Marriott properties whenever possible. I booked my room in advance and got an amazing rate. Later on I was in my account making changes to my trip coming up in San Fran and I accidentally canceled my Ven hotel reservation. As soon as I realized my mistake I called Marriott to reinstate it-because it was showing up as sold out on their website and there was nothing they could do to help me. I decided to give it another try and called the hotel front desk directly and spoke with Jin who was able to reinstate my original reservation at an amazing rate. She really went above and beyond and I felt that she valued me as a Marriott customer. They're a great brand and have phenomenal people working for them and that's why I am a Marriott member for life!

On Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, I purchased two day passes to the Ven's Rooftop pool. It was great weather and the DC public pools were, for the most part, closed. Rather than spend 2k+ on a pool membership in the region (cannot afford that), my son and I have set a goal to hit as many hotel rooftop pools that offer daypasses. The Ven was a nice experience. So, I could totally recommend the one-off visit to the pool and to check out the views of DC. Totally fun to see the Dupont circle Metro stop glass roof (being repaired) and a number of other cool buildings. Always a plus-- my son didn't bring any devices, so he read books and lounged by the pool. It's not really a great lap swimming pool there at the Ven. But, I once had someone teach me how to "Aqua-jog" and no one there made me feel like I was an idiot for doing that. The package supposedly includes the hotel's gym. But that's in the basement of the hotel. It felt like it was a little understaffed at the hotel and I didn't feel comfortable asking for access. Anyway, I was there for the pool. I also was not offered my "canned cocktail of choice." I could have demanded it, but the very sweet gentleman tending the pool food bar/drinks was on his third day, and was a little befuddled that I didn't have a room number to charge things to. HOWEVER, I will admit, I tipped the gentleman and he helped us manuever getting two loungers. THAT WAS WORTH IT. He was super helpful. It was crowded and I was not excited about spending the day there sitting on benches. I asked and 20 minutes later he helped us make it work. THANK YOU. So, for a one-off-- totally worth it! Will I pay a monthly membership fee. Maybe not. Unless people somehow hook me up very clearly with that air hockey table...

Access to that air hockey table is all yours, just say the word! :) I'm so pleased that you joined us on our launch weekend. We'll make sure that our pool attendants are well informed of all the inclusions of the day pass. Just to clarify, the monthly memberships include access to the gym, but the day passes do not. All the more reason to join us for the summer as a Ven Social member! Thanks again, we will hope to see you soon. Jennifer
