It's always a lottery picking a location for a city break but we couldn't believe our luck when booking this hotel. Not only are the rooms, hotel facilities and staff really good but the metro station is very close and the hotel is surrounded by excellent restaurants and places to eat. If you don't fancy walking to see the sights ignore the expensive tourist hop on/off buses and buy a metro pass. You're never far from a station and It's cheap and easy to reach all the tourist attractions and areas of interest. The US is now a very expensive destination for UK visitors when eating out particularly with the ridiculous tipping regime so consider the Hotel's inclusive breakfast package which is great value for money.

Helen was an extremely helpful front desk agent! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food is decent. The interiors can be slightly dated. Rooms are carpeted. Leather bed backing and upholstery was clean. Provided shampoo and body wash is citrus scented from NEST NYC in case anyone has allergies.

We had a very good experience at The Ven. Staff was very friendly, room was comfortable and clean. We asked for a room away from Mass Ave - because of potential noise - and the were able to accommodate us so the room was quiet. They even serviced the room for us on one day. Frankly, I had read some reviews elsewhere that were critical; that certainly was not the case for our stay. I would stay there again when in DC. Desk staff were able to recommend two very good restaurants within walking distance. Even the morning coffee in the bar was good; we did have breakfast sandwiches there that were only so so.

We stayed at The Ven the first week of April 2024.
It was clean and the staff was efficient. We were upgraded (due to an upgrade request - THANK YOU!) to a DuPont room in the 5th floor. The room added just a few feet from a normal room. This looked out onto Massachusetts Ave and the Portuguese Embassy.
The hotel itself is situated in a great area. Only a block or so from the convenient and cheap Metro subway to get around DC. There is also a CVS a block away for any essentials. We dined at a few good restaurants locally (Zorba’s had excellent Greek food).
The staff was great, the housekeeping came every day and were exceptional.
We decided against the 60 bucks a day for valet parking and paid the 20 dollar day rate a block away at the PNC bank.
Overall I highly recommend The Ven. It’s great and in a safe neighborhood! The Metro being so close is key - just a 10min ride from Metro Center and all the sites.

Your review is so kind, and I'm just thrilled that you enjoyed your stay! It sounds like you really explored the neighborhood and got the most out of your visit to Dupont Circle, which is wonderful. We hope that you will come again and sincerely appreciate your recommendation as that is truly the highest compliment that a hotel can receive. Thank you! Jennifer

Absolutely great value for money - probably the best since the end of the pandemic we enjoyed in any big city. Staff very friendly and professional throughout the entire stay. Have the point out the great job that housekeeping is doing - way above what you get at other (more expensive and luxurious) hotels. The room was fancy - very "cool" layout and decor - we loved it. Great looks but still superbly functional. Breakfast: casual atmosphere but superbly fresh produce on the menu. Location: a couple minutes away from the subway station so anything you want to visit in D.C. is within reach. Will certainly go back to the Ven.

Perfectly fine hotel with a great location. You can get a bigger, nicer room in DC but the key sell is Dupont Circle, which has a lot to see/eat/experience there as well as being a great central location to access all of DC. I stayed on the 2nd floor and would suggest to future travelers to request a high floor. Pool is really, really small and there isn't a ton of seating, but the rooftop provides a cool vantage. The restaurant/bar area is very nice and the food is innovative and delicious. Ultimately a cool hotel and a great value for $ spent, would stay again but the best parts come from outside the room itself.

I had the most wonderful stay at this hotel for my birthday. The staff here went above and beyond to make me feel welcome.

The front desk staff were polite, professional, and so thoughtful. Upon check-in, I made an offhand comment about my stay being part of my birthday celebration and they left a small bottle of champagne in my room along with two glasses and a lovely note. I definitely didn't expect that and it got my trip off to a great start.

The room was comfortable, clean, and pretty. My partner and I had the best sleep of our lives on that bed. The hotel property is beautiful and we really enjoyed the art gallery, game room, and gym provided. The location was perfect with lots to do directly around the hotel and a nearby Metro station to take you wherever you wanted to go.

We did have a couple of bad experiences at other shops in the area during one day of the trip. I finally gave up and went back to the hotel to rest and relax. We grabbed a drink at the beautiful hotel bar where our server and bartender, Donna and José, completely turned the day around with their kindness, warmth, humor, and superior service. They really made our day 100% better and I'm so grateful to them.

There is a beautiful tea shop, Valley Brook Tea, that gives a discount when you stay at the hotel and you definitely won't find a better tea service in the area.

Everything about this hotel, it's staff, and the location was wonderful. I'll definitely be back and I highly recommend them for your stay in the DC area. If you ever wonder where you should go for good service, food, drink, or just a dose of culture and class, look no further than the Ven.

Thank you all for making my stay special.

We made many small requests and the staff responded with great speed, competency, and courtesy. They are a big plus for the VEN and its welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were a bit small but manageable for a group of 3. The restaurant's food may not be gourmet but above average and for the Du Pont circle area reasonably priced. Nearness to the Phillips Collection and the METRO more pluses.

I wish I could rate The Ven higher, but in the end, I'm warning people away from staying here. The lobby is beautiful and the blue leather-ish walls in the rooms are nice, but that's where the praise ends.

When you check in, they act as if they're giving away freebies like a bag and a friendship bracelet - but then when you check out and are in a rush to depart, that's when they slap you with a "resort fee." EVERY guest must pay it even if you didn't use the gym or any of the facilities. It was a ridiculous rate. You have to pay this ON TOP OF the price you paid for the room.

The rooms themselves are problematic. Despite my Marriott Bonvoy status, they booked me in the smallest room possible, and only when I complained that the toilet lid was broken and that the room was too small did they put me in a larger room. But both the shower handle and the door spring of the new room were broken. Based on other reviewer comments, it seems that they neglect the rooms' basic functional items, but make the lobby shiny and pretty. It's backwards.

I don't recommend staying here. Choose a different boutique hotel or a regular chain hotel where you can count on no hidden "resort" fees (what a joke, this was no resort) and where things in your room aren't all broken.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. I appreciate your thoughts on your stay and your room, even though they aren't as positive as I would like! For the destination fee, I will remind the front desk to state that the tote and goodies are part of the destination fee package so that there is no feeling of "gotcha" at check out, as you experienced here. That is never our intention and we have made sure to communicate the fee prior to the completion of the booking and also on emailed confirmations. We include a food and beverage voucher per day that equals the amount of the fee paid, and those vouchers can be used for breakfast daily, grab and go from the market or for dinner or drinks. I hope that you were able to use the vouchers to get the best value during your visit. Regarding the maintenance items in both of the guest rooms you were assigned, I apologize for those issues and will share your review with our team to ensure we are not occupying rooms with any issues at all. I am not able to find your reservation from your user name here, but if you would be so kind as to email me with the name your reservation was under, I will ensure those items are addressed. My email address is jgoodman@thevenembassyrow.com. I would also like to make sure that however your room was booked, the information about the fee is clearly communicated. I appreciate your time and thoughts and will hope to hear from you so that I may better resolve these issues for you beyond this review response. Many thanks, Jennifer
