The hotel was close to the places we needed to be. We walked to most of the places we visited, and the hotel location REALLY helped in the decision to walk. When we returned most evenings, the pool was a welcomed site and we took advantage of it.

Hyatt Place had friendly staff and was about a 14 minute walk to north end of National Mall from 4th street location. Street side views and a clean but small outdoor pool on 3rd floor . Valet parking only here for a price . Conference price was 199$ night but the retail rate is $290+. Rooms clean and nice with shower only. Metro stop L’Enfant station is an 8 minute walk away. You can reach hotel from Reagan International Airport via Yellow Metro line within usually 4 stops. Hotel restaurant serves food to order . I sampled. Veggie burger and fries for 19$, Hummus and pesto and pita for 13$ for evening meals. Did not discover any restaurants very close to hotel. *Several food choices closer to National Mall.

The experience was great. Excellent service, spacious rooms, caring staff, wonderful location in walking distance to the National Mall, superb breakfast that could only be enhanced by the addition of grits and pastries, helpful staff an overall great experience, will stay there next time I’m in the area!

The hotel is 4 blocks away from the national mall, which means you have a lot of attractions near by, so for us location was perfect. Having said that, this weekend had record temperatures in DC at 105F, so we couldnt even walk those 4 blocks as it was truly bad for your health. What we did do, was walk at night, after dinner, 9ish, literally walked the entire mall, and 3 nights in a row. Seeing the monuments at night, all lit up, with the breeze, was just a delight. There are plenty of people walking by, and lots of security, so you are safe. We used the outdoor pool and laundry. The rooms we had were great, with plenty of space. Breakfast was a bit of a hassle as the hotel was packed and the lines at breakfast were a bit long. No dining close by, but once you get to the other side of the mall, you have plenty of options. Dean and Dawun went out of their way to make us feel at home... What a great duo!!!!! Definately will stay again!!!

While close to the national mall, not close to anything else, except the CVS, which you will need for drinks and snacks, as the hotel has limited supplies. Staff lacked any kind of customer service orientation. Messed up reservation as well and didn't correct it when we advised them two weeks before. Carpet was frayed and exposed carpet tacks, watch your feet! Want food to be close by? Forget it, find another hotel in another section of town, absolutely nothing but McDonalds and Quizno's. Those are two blocks away. Just say no to this hotel.

Response from RustinHP, Assistant General Manager at Hyatt Place Washington D.C. National Mall

Dmath, I am sorry that our property did not meet your expectations or needs. Our property is sought after by many and one thing that usually remains clear is that our hotel staff goes above and beyond to make personal connections as well as ensure we are here to serve. I Apologize if there was a reservation issue that went unresolved. As far as dining, if we cannot keep your attention with our full service restaurant or rooftop lounge, we have an abundance of restaurants in walking distance from fast casual to white cloth dining. We are sorry that we were not able to get you oriented in the right direction for a recommendation. As your profile does not provide a full name, we would love to continue the conversation so we can get some clarity on your reservation issue as well as pinpoint the room you occupied so we can check the carpet. Please feel free to call the hotel at your convenience and ask for the MOD to provide detail from your online review. Thank you Rustin Moore
