We stayed in the Zora Neale Hurston room. It was big and beautiful. The two person jetted tub was thoroughly enjoyed after walking the city all day, as was the happy hour. The innkeeper, Nani was very personable, accommodating and made delicious breakfasts. The only things we might mention is the windows have transoms that are not covered, so the sun... More

This is a great B&B with lots of character and charm. The service from Kim the Innkeeper is top notch, breakfast is very good, and accommodation is comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. They've kept the beautiful architectural design and character of the old Victorian DC row house. In a city with an abundance of over-priced, dull corporate hotels, this is a... More

This is a older house in DC, with easy access to locations around the city. The neighborhood is really nice and gives the visitor the feel of city life. The lower level of the house is very special and the dining room is set up for group style breakfast. My room was on the third floor. It was pleasant enough,... More

My husband and I love rustic old fashion homes. When I saw Akwaaba Bed and Breakfast, I fell in love with it. When we arrived at the place and entered in the house. It took my breath away to see antique furniture and all. We flew from Doha, Qatar to DC for my daughter's graduation and stayed at Akwaaba for... More

Inn keeper Kim was outstanding. Very gracious and helpful. Breakfast and happy hour snacks were excellent making the beginning and end of our days great. The inn was comfortable and clean. Common areas were spacious and welcoming.

I was in DC for work and stayed at the Akwaaba. All of the staff were so friendly and I loved my room! I really enjoyed having breakfast with the other guests and mingling at happy hour in the evenings. Coffee is available all day so no need to find the closest coffee shop. :) The house is lovely and... More

If you're going to the Washington DC area and want to stay somewhere, definitely pick Akwaaba. It's affordable, comfortable, accessible, very welcoming and warm, and they take care of you; they really do. Location - You can't beat it! It's right down the road from the White House, and a 30 minute walk from it. It's also near two Metro... More

We had a wonderful visit to Akwaaba. Everything was perfect - the food, the hospitality, the location, the accommodations. The two hostesses were very friendly and helpful, suggesting great restaurants, travel tips, etc. We will definitely want to stay again on our next trip to DC!

Upon walking in, you feel a sense of calm. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the innkeeper, Nani is very attentive and attends to every detail. Each room is beautifully and meticulously decorated with care and attention. I stayed in the "Romance" room and was able to view many of the others. The energy throughout the entire building is... I stayed at Akwaaba during a recent visit to DC for a conference. When I realized it was the same amount as the conference hotel but included free breakfast and wifi, I chose it instead and am delighted I did. I stayed in the Inspiration Suite, but I was able to sneak a peek into all the rooms, and they... More
