Wonderful experience! A truly first rate highly run exquisite hotel! From the beautifully appointed rooms to the fantastic staff our every need and desire was met. Pre-arrival our amazing concierge Kimberle organized and curated an amazing weekend escape…from fabulous restaurants to an incredible master tour guide who enriched our knowledge of art, history, architecture and government through many fascinating sites across Washington! The management team is exceptional including Sara in the restaurant to our outstanding waiter Clement (he is the best!).
Thank you for a memorable stay and experience….we will return!

Our 3 night stay at the Riggs was fantastic. The front desk staff were all helpful and professional. We were given cards worth 2 free drinks at the bar, and the bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and made excellent mixed drinks. It was easy to social distance while seated in comfortable chairs in the bar/lounge area.

When we saw that there was no coffee machine in the room, we inquired to see if we could have one delivered. In no time, a Nespresso machine was delivered to our room!

The mattress was extremely comfortable, the décor beautiful, and there are gorgeous black-out curtains which allowed us to sleep in. I have to include that the bathroom is gorgeous, and the showerhead was top of the line. I really appreciate that in a hotel. The bathroom sink area was small, but totally functional. There is a safe and a small refrigerator.

The Riggs takes the pandemic seriously. Our room was cleaned fastidiously and all staff wore masks at all times.

If you are looking for a hotel with a view of the White House or the monuments,
this is not it. We got a "city view" which was of office buildings. That's ok. We were out and about all day, anyway.

The location is excellent. It's a 10 minute walk to the National Mall, and only several blocks from the Ford Theater. (The Theater is closed due to the pandemic, though.) The Riggs is less than a block from a Metro station.

As an aside, the Riggs is one half block from a fantastic restaurant called "Olivia".
The service, ambiance and food were exceptional.

Founding Farmers restaurant is a 22 minute walk and Busboys and Poets is a short drive or short Uber ride. We highly recommend both.

In summary, the Riggs will be our place to stay when we visit Washington DC in the future.

This is my first time writing a review, but felt compelled to do so after nothing short of a wonderfully thoughtful experience at this hotel. I was in town from New York specifically for the recent March on Washington and thought this property would be solid to stay at given its convenient location to the Lincoln Memorial and other key sites in the city. Upon arrival to the property I was warmly greeted by the staff - I had requested an early check-in which was readily available (though not shocking given the recent impact of Covid on hotels in general). I was then ushered to a beautiful room (I'd booked a suite) where I was immediately comfortable. The room was more residential in style which suited me perfectly as it allowed for a more home away from home feel. Everything was immaculate and certainly seemed properly cleaned, sanitized, etc which was of the upmost important to me during this pandemic. I stopped by their restaurant Café Riggs for lunch and dinner and have to say for a hotel restaurant (I used to travel a lot prior to Covid) was pleasantly surprised by the diverse offerings on the menu and the dishes I ordered, which were nothing short of delicious. My server Jhavany was an absolute delight and presented a sound knowledge of the menu and my respective needs. Would definitely recommend a stay at Riggs. They clearly have properly incorporated the cdc guidelines - staff were all in masks, sanitizer was readily available, etc allowing for guest ease while simultaneously being friendly, warm, and welcoming. I also have to note that the staff at this property were very diverse, as a person of color it was a refreshing site.

It was all Hyatt's fault! They cancelled my reservation due to COVID so upon arrival to DC I used Booking.Com to find another place and this popped up. A gorgeous, French-inspired hotel and cuisine. Formerly a bank from the 1800's the top floors have been added as hotel rooms and they are beautifully appointed, including a dog bed and water bowl. (I didn't have the dog with me though). The towels were fluffy, the shower hot, the beds super comfy with plenty of space to plug in your mobile devices and it's VERY quiet -- no street noise. The staff was exceptionally polite and pleasant, very accommodating to our every whim. We enjoyed a lovely brunch on Sunday morning at Cafe Riggs. Happy Hour on the rooftop replete with lap blankets and a fabulous view. It was an easy walk to the Washington Mall. We will be back. Thank you.

Sandie H, While I am sorry to read about your cancellation elsewhere we are admittedly thankful we were able to have the honor of hosting you thereafter! We are pleased you enjoyed our delicious brunch in Café Riggs as well as cocktails at Rooftop at Riggs. Sadly many have come to expect average F&B offerings in US hospitality and we take immense pride in providing memorable experiences in each of our outlets to accompany our beautiful new hotel. We eagerly await your return visit and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and our prospective guests! Be well, Dieter Schmitz, CHA Regional General Manager

Fantastic stay. The Riggs Hotel used to be The Riggs National Bank and they have kept a lot of the old bank details. Impossibly high ceilings and old architectural details everywhere. Plexiglass between you and staff at checkin. Sticker seal on the room door letting us know it was sanitized. They have a series of First Lady Suites that are all one of a kind and we stayed in the Ida McKinley (all pink!) and loved it!! We had plans to go down for brunch in the morning but ended up just ordering room service when we realized we had access to the full brunch menu in the rooms still! We dined in the restaurant the night before and it was lovely. It’s a large space so it’s easy to distance and staff all had masks. Service was great but what you really should go for is to just BE in this space. If you have a special occasion, spring for one of the First Lady suites, and if those are too prices, the regular suites are exquisite too (just more modern, but still eucalyptus as fit for an interior design magazine spread). The food is amazing too. Don’t skip the ham and cheese croissant in the morning, and the cucumber and caviar.

We stayed at the Riggs hotel for eight days and we were all blown away by how incredible this hotel was!
The rooms were impeccably cleaned (especially important during this pandemic!), beautifully appointed, and the design payed homage to the building's incredible history.
We were most impressed though with the friendliness of the incredible staff! They went above and beyond to welcome us and make feel at home.
Finally the food at the Cafe Riggs was the best we've ever tasted in Washington DC! The style and presentation of the food and drinks was matched by the warm and comforting ambience.
We'll certainly be back soon!

Beautifully decorated both in common areas and the room, I loved the color palettes for the walls and the luxurious choices of appliances. Heavy, soft comforter that felt premium and so did the pillows. Good sized rooms and I enjoyed the access to slippers and robes.

On the negative side.. there was a lot of small things that piled up during the stay that I just don’t think is acceptable for a 5 star hotel. If I was staying at a 3 or 4 star hotel I might have been more forgiving but when you pay a premium price for a premium experience then you expect everything to be flawless.

I realized that the room they gave me ended up being a classic room, I was suppose to have a deluxe room. I had to call down and tell them, and was told that they didn’t have any deluxe rooms available on higher floors, which I said was okay - I just wanted the room type that I had reserved. After getting a new set of keys I had to move all my stuff into the correct room. In the first room there was no coffee machine, which I also mentioned when I called them (according to their website there’s suppose to be one in all rooms.) They told me then that I would have to specifically request one, which I found very odd- especially since there were no mentioning about this on their website. I told them I wanted one for the new room which they said would be arranged, but by the end of the day I still hadn’t received it and by then I just didn’t feel like dealing with calling down again.

Besides the beautiful decoration and bed quality, there was some small things missing and/or damaged in the deluxe room. On their website they state that they offer free bottled water in the rooms, which they did not have in either of the rooms I viewed. The first room had about 80% of the items in the minibar that their menu claimed they sold, while the second room only had about 50% of the items, the rest was missing. Also, one of the snack packages in the minibar was damaged.

In the bathroom, they offer a nice collection of shampoo and conditioner, I appreciated the full sized bottles. However, the label on the shampoo bottle was damaged, which kinda took away from the luxurious feeling. Also, at night I turned the fan/ac off so I wouldn’t be bothered by the noice when going to sleep.. but even though it was off, it kept making a semi loud noice throughout the whole night, which made it hard to fall asleep.

Overall, the place has potential to be amazing, but the lack of attention to detail and several mistakes just made my stay less enjoyable than what I’d hoped for.

Dear Ms. Angelica, Thank you for choosing Riggs and sharing this valuable feedback of our hotel. As a new hotel we're always looking for exciting new ways to serve our guests. We do our best to be innovative and create bright experiences and this comes with some growing pains. I'll be sure to share this review with our design and engineering teams in an effort to find solutions and come out the better. As I flew into DC on a spontaneous whim, the fear of not having a hotel booked set in and after extensively looking up reviews of hotels in the area, I was calmed by a cordial and amicable receptionist who negotiated the best deal I could have solicited for. After a 10 minute Uber from Reegan airport, I arrived at the Riggs, my anxiousness immediately left my body and an euphoric sentiment embodied myself until the end of the trip. Never have visited DC, I had a lot of inquiries and objections that I wanted to fulfill. The staff had the best recommendations and I could witness their shared excitement for my unprecedented embarkment. I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the whole staff of the Riggs for ensuring, contributing and validating my exploration of DC

We are so happy we chose the Riggs as our venue for our wedding! Mia, the Senior Events manager was so accommodating and made herself available to answer questions via email, call, or even text! (Thanks for your patience LOL). We received so many compliments on the food, particularly the crab cakes and steak. Upon check in, staff greeted us with smiles and took our luggage right up to our room - even placed my dress in the closet for me as I hurried to the rehearsal! On the night of the wedding, we were pleasantly surprised to find a treat in our suite, and a card of well wishes for the big day. Wonderful service all around, not to mention the rooms are GORGEOUS. I will say, however, that for the price of the gallery suite, it would have been nice if it came with a bigger fridge, a microwave, and utensils for the “kitchen” area - there’s a table for 6, but not much hosting items for a suite. Other than that, we enjoyed the view, robes and slippers for sure! Definitely coming back to celebrate our 1 year! ❤️

We stayed 2 nights. The main bar and upstairs restaurant are in a beautifully restored snd decorated huge room with high ceilings.
We had a really good lunch including delicious onion soup.
The bar is inviting whether you are on your own or with others.Ruth at the bar made us feel very welcome and even though she had only been working there for 4 months you would have had no idea.
The bedrooms are comfortable with a good shower and the location of the hotel is very central to the main sights

Presumably the question is whether the hotel has a Russian speaker on staff because the questioner has a situation where Russian speaking guests not fluent in English are looking for a place to stay.
