Chose to stay at the DC Wharf to take a break during this challenging pandemic year. Had a choice of three hotels. The Intercontinental, Hyatt House, and Canopy by Hilton. Have stayed at the IC before and it is a nice property with access to external balconies. The Hyatt House offered a competitive upgrade to a 1-bedroom, riverfront suite with floor to ceiling windows and a spectacular view of East Potomac Park, the Wharf, and Virginia beyond. The service was excellent. The amenities were constrained because of the pandemic but I didn't expect any different. One drawback was the absence of SmartTVs - so no access to Netflix or Prime Video in the evenings. That was disappointing - just something I have come to expect at hotels today. Overall a great experience for a local staycation. Highly recommend a riverfront room at this property if you can get one.

Hotel's Favorite
The hotel is modern and well equipped with several amenities in your room. Ample bathroom and a great bed. Near several restaurants, pharmacy, etc. The night life wasn’t noisy. The staff was courteous. I would recommend for an extended business trip or family travel.

The main lady at the front desk was hateful and confrontational at check in. In addition, the latch on the bathroom door was broken and would not close and the light in the bedroom would not work so anytime in the bedroom we had to leave the bathroom door open with the light on. In addition, there were very limited food option around, especially at late check in, a $3 Hershey bar that is normally .69c at ANY local gas station (because I couldn't find anything to eat and then ended up having to drive back into VA at around 10:30 just to find something to eat, and upon coming back after dinner that night all I wanted to do is sit and watch TV for a little bit to disconnect and neither remote worked for either tv... I was a little pissed to say the least.... I paid almost double on this hotel vs the others in the area because I expected better. Should have just saved the money...
