I stay here for work quite a bit. I do not like that there aren't any vending machines, and no pool, or hot tub, but they have a nice gym, nice lobby, quiet and clean rooms with a great view and great location.
we bought a travelzoo voucher for here and got a great deal. the hotel is in a great location and has an upscale feel. we had parking included and took advantage of valet. it took forever to check in though for some reason, maybe because we had a voucher. whatever it was we were finally given room keys. the elevators are a little slow but the hotel was busy on a friday. our room was gorgeous and clean with a nice bathroom area separate from the bedroom. we were also happy to have a fridge and mini bar. we heard no noise from others around us and just really enjoyed our stay. i would recommend this hotel and return here.
as a perk the hotel offers 25% off the starbucks connected to the hotel if you show them your room key. i thought that was a nice touch.
Located on K street a couple of blocks from the White House and two metro stops. Couldn't be better. We had a hiccup on arrival, (our reservation made at the hotel's website did not get to the front desk terminal, somehow) but after a 30 minute wait as they found it and sorted out, we were given a nice room. They also gave us a breakfast comp to make up for the inconvenience. The room was small but just fine. Nice bathroom. Good view. Breakfast was really good and the staff was polite and solicitous from beginning to end. We are going back next month.
Traveling in from Dulles on Thursday afternoon took one and a half hour by Taxi, due to traffic. The Lyft back on Saturday at noon was roughly 30 minutes.
Check-in was quick and friendly, wait time for the elevator was substantial and even more bothersome, as the room was on the 2nd floor. Two out of four elevators are out at this property and stairs are either not available or armed for fire alert.
The room was rather small, even for the reduced amount of furniture it was equipped with, but very nice. Downside was 2nd floor facing 14th street and no privacy shutters in the bathroom, so blinds had to be engaged day and night. Unless you want to watch people passing by while you are minding business there.
Hotel is rather noisy and the hallways were totally over heated. Heating in the room was somewhat digital, either too hot or too cold depending on the AC being in heat mode or not. Windows were rather non insulating.
Cleanliness of the room was so so, when I arrived - hair that did not belong to me on the night stand and an open pen on the desk chair, that neither belonged to me nor the hotel.
Late check-out only 'til noon and I had my keys re-programmed two times to be able to ride the elevator and get to the room to fetch my stuff.
Check-out took like forever, because a displeased quest was fighting to get his bill down to 0. Not sure if that was legit, as he acted rude. The agent was very kind and professional serving him - for the time I had to watch them go back and forth.
Very comfortable rooms with huge TVs. Had a bar meal (shrimp tacos and Blue Moon lager) that were so good I went back again the next night. The restaurant looke very nice but I didn't get past the bar. The hotel has a women-only floor which I can't describe, for obvious reasons, but I think it's appreciated by solo female travellers. Terrific gym - possibly the best hotel gym I have ever seen.
