The Darcy was a joy to stay at in DC. The room was beautifully presented and the facilities are excellent. All staff greeted us with a smile and were so welcoming. I highly recommend to all travelers to stay here! The location is 6 blocks from the White House and Mc Pherson metro line. Easy 10 min walk - every walk in DC is enjoyable the city is a delight for all walks. 15 min walk to Washington monument too. The Darcy is also located in a safe area near 14th street restaurants and 17th street restaurants that are local classy neighborhoods for dining.

For the price, you can't get any better than this Downtown. The staff is amazing. They always have smiles on their faces and help you out with anything you need. My room was adorable, and it was always cleaned everyday with towels replenished (without me having to ask -- unlike some hotels). Every day from 5:30 to 6:00 they have a free gin cocktail get-together in the lobby/bar, and their Bluestone coffee shop has great coffee, pastries, and toasts. My friend and I had a wonderful time. We can't wait to go back!!!!!

We travel to DC often and we always stay at another hotel but decided to try the Darcy. We arrived for our 4 night stay and upon check in, their was a couple in front of us who were having some issues with their reservation and were being responded to with blank stares and no assistance . I thought maybe the issue was on the guests end until it was my turn with the front desk. We were treated the same way, like an imposition, no friendly hello/welcome etc. Their daily amenity fee ($25) is absurd. You are required to pay for things that you may/,may not use, digital downloads of newspapers, bikes, happy hour in the lobby. We reserved a one bedroom suite; the living room area was furnished but the bedroom part had no place to put our luggage other than on the floor since the in room coffee maker was in the closet on top of the safe.(bizarre) So you had only one side of the closet for hanging clothes/storage. The bathroom had a black stain on the ceiling from a leak and there were several dark markings (looked liked unwashed makeup stains) on the wall next to the sink. Went to the bar for drinks before dinner and the bar was out of several standard bar items. The definitive disappointment was one morning we were standing outside the hotel and there were guests who needed assistance with the hotel bikes. The hotel attendant was absolutely rude and said to the guests "just be nice" and "this (bike assistance) is not my job!" The reason for the "just be nice" comment is because the guests needed their bike seats adjusted and were getting frustrated by the "not my job" comment (which was said to them several times) without any resolutions being offered to help their situation. That certainly is not how your treat guests staying at your establishment. Very disappointed all around with our experience.

tbaglivo, Thank you for taking the time to share your candid feedback with us. I'm so sorry to hear that you received such lackluster customer service. This is certainly not the type of experience we aim to provide to any guest and is out of the norm for us. We can and will do better, and I hope you will give us the opportunity to prove that to you during your next trip to DC. I encourage you to reach out to me personally should you choose to stay with us again so I may look out for your reservation and ensure everything goes flawlessly next time around!

All went well with staff and service, but upon checkout found that a daily charge of $27 plus tax had been added to our bill for "amenities." Desk staff said that this charge was added because amenities were available whether we used them or not. We did not. I will be informing our travel agent of this practice, which I have never encountered elsewhere and did not know about it in advance.

Gary B, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. We're glad you enjoyed your experience overall. Our amenity fee of $25 per day includes tax and allows us to provide a lot of great services and amenities which many other hotels do not. I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy any of them during this visit, but we hope you will have the chance to join us again and take full advantage!
