We stay regularly at Kimptons. The George is more like a standard business hotel than the quirkier Kimptons elsewhere in DC. The room was clean and attractive, also quiet. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. One negative is that there were few options for breakfast within walking distance on Sunday morning. We ended up at a bakery around the corner but judging from how long the line was, there can't have been many places open at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Great location within walking distance to so much. Surprising, Union Station came in very handy for Blue Bottle coffee trips and quick needs from Walgreens. Not as funky/hip as other Kimpton’s (a favorite brand of ours) but easily as personable with an AMAZING front desk staff (especially TC, Hunter, Benji). You made our wonderful stay that much better! We came for a mini vacation and then family get-together. Also saw a lot of business travelers. Everyone seemed very pleased. Comfortable rooms, etc.
Front desk staff very nice, learn your name and sincerely interested in your day. Restaurant- not run by hotel staff is a hard pass Operations shift manager very accommodating and helped us on an extended stay when our return flight home was cancelled. GREAT location for DC sightseeing- did not rent a cara- Walked and Ride share. Some rooms are dated. 3 nights were were in a room that was dated (king bed and pull out sofa. Fourth night we changed rooms to 2 queens and it was more updated. We appreciate the staff friendliness the most
I decided to stay at the George because it was close to my work place and also to my friends place. the rooms are small but the beds and pillows and very comfortable, I had great sleep, specially because my room was very quiet away in a corner. The team members and house keepers I met were al, very friendly and professional. Sirey help me giving me a late check out which was really helpful because it gave me time to to have lunch and say goodbye to my friends, an then get ready for my flight. Also, Solomon and Israel helped me with my luggage.
From the moment we entered we were greeted like friends who had come over to visit. At check in, Solomun immediately helped us with our luggage, and Siray offered us water as soon as we said we had walked a lot and got lost looking for the hotel, later that day she also recommended and help us find a place for dinner. Everyone we met was so kind and always willing to help. Definitely the hotel with the best staff we've ever stayed at. The only downside to our stay was that the area surrounding the hotel didn't seem completely safe since there were always homeless around yelling.
This boutique hotel is literally across from the Capitol Building and union station. Very well appointed rooms with a very comfortable bed and linens. Impeccable customer service from everyone l met. Friendly and welcoming. My room was tucked in a corner away from the street without a view but I had the best sleep in ages. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting DC.
This had to be one of THEE best hotels I have ever been to! The customer service was IMPECCABLE! Damara is the first person I encountered and she is congenial, warm and accommodating! Just a beautiful person and walking in her gift of customer service. She made sure I had everything I needed and went above and beyond! One of the light bulbs in our bathroom was out and Damara took care of it within 30 mins! Thank you so much for that! Sirey was also at the front desk on one of my subsequent days at The George and was kind, friendly & warm; just a joy to talk to! She and Solomon were gracious enough to hold our luggage until our flight departed. This entire team was like a well rehearsed orchestra. They worked well together and made sure EVERY guest was taken care of. The hotel was very clean at all times and the gym was really nice! The complimentary wine at happy hour was a nice touch, the bartenders were very engaging and didn’t make you feel rushed at all. It was a GREAT experience and I will definitely be staying at The George from now on! Thank you Kimpton for such a beautiful experience at you hotel! ❤️…
I booked this because it's close to my niece's apartment but it turned out to be v convenient for all the monuments and we did a great walk around the tidal basin Cherry blossoms. Very comfortable bed; room a good size but not much natural light. No bathtub which was a shame. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The only thing I'd fault is that when I asked about breakfast on Sunday morning at 8am they offered pre-packaged baked goods that were in reception which I'd hardly call a hotel breakfast - I was surprised that their restaurant wasn't open for hotel guests. Hotel has an ATM and a gym (though I didn't use it so no idea how big or well equipped it is.
My friends and l had a great stay here. The hotel is centrally located, right next to capital hill, public transportation, and restaurants. The staff is wonderful and extremely accommodating. I was to especially shout out Damara and everyone at the front desk. They spoke to us every time they saw us to make sure we had what we needed. We will definitely come back and stay here again!!
The valet was incredibly helpful. The entire stay was a pleasure. Very clean, safe and really the best part was staff. Yes Covid this is the first hotel that I went to that actually turned out my room and cleaned it. They have private coffee machines in the room which is really nice. The valet was the best part!
