Stayed at ICH Wharf just before full Covid re-opening, so there were still restrictions, most of which I understood beforehand and some which I still don't get. Hotel staff and room OK. My main issue was the way they used the restrictions to bump up prices. Restaurant and social dining in the hotel were not allowed. We were allowed to order room service and have delivered. I chose to have my breakfast outdoors on the wharf patio. My wife and I received a single serve "pot" of coffee each, charged $ 8.00. The bill included an automatic 18% IRD (in room delivery) service charge, PLUS an additional $ 6.00 delivery fee, TO THEIR OWN LOBBY!!! To me this reeks of price gouging when I have no alternative options available. No reason a coffee urn/bar could have been set up in lobby. The room was advertised as having a "Spa Inspired' bathroom, not even close. Finally, my room was supposed to include a 1 tier upgrade at check in. I requested w/ reservation and asked at check in to be put into room as shown on hotel website that was shown for price point. Despite being at least 1/2 empty, I was placed in a corner room with a partial water view, but full view of the building patio next door. I contacted guest services, only to be offered rewards points. If my complaints were simply of the quality nature, I would get it, but when I gave specific instances of overcharges, that response just doesn't cut it for me.

Dear Tvlplb, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback and for choosing to be our guest. Baraki was amazing at the front door. He was the first face we saw in the morning, and the last at night. My boys loved him and he made our incredible DC trip worthwhile. We loved everything about the hotel, the complimentary coffee and pastries, the great vietnamese restaurant, the beautiful and spacious rooms, and the hopping pool. We will be back.

Amazing stay...from the hotel itself to the wonderful staff, thank you for making our 10th wedding anniversary amazing. Highlights: - Complimentary chocolate and champagne arrived in our hotel room courtesy of the concierge. I did not mention this at check-in, they simply overheard me talking about it with my wife. Amazing staff very observant! - Location!!! Our balcony room overlooked The wharf, plenty of restaurants to choose from. a CVS is located next door which makes it super convenient to grab things you may have forgotten. - Gym! An above average hotel gym (I travel a lot for business, important to me). They even have two pelotons available for those that are obsessed like me. - The staff! The concierge was in constant contact via text message, responding to any issues I had immediately. The doorman and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. Maria at the front desk zipped the back of my wife's dress up when I was not available. Wish list for next time: - Pool. It rained most of our stay so we were unable to enjoy the pool area. - Smokers. Many of the rooms have balconies. While I personally don't have an issue with people using their balconies to smoke, I do take issue when they flick their smoking materials off the balcony and hit those below. I reported this to the front desk and they immediately took action (like I said, great customer service). I look forward to our next day at the Intercontinental!!

The room was awesome, great view and practical amenities. I never heard any other guests and I was easily able to connect my phone to the tv to play movies and music. It was our anniversary and we received complimentary chocolate platter. Also the concierge texting was a nice touch. They helped with all my needs and I never made a call. Beautiful hotel indeed
