Big site , lots of walking!!!. Rooms are huge and beds comfy, just need to have them clean the bed covers more often ours were stained, otherwise sheets and towels always clean.
This is an open aired hotel , therfor little place for activities if rainning. Main hall always very busy at night and little places available you are always on the lookout for a chair and table.
Beer shack/ place is wonderful and pleasant.
Site clean and quiet.
Pool needing a little TLC. Lots of chairs and availability aro8.
Staff very nice and helpful. Animation team is good, music throughout the day was pretty good and up to date.
Worth a stay for the price and beach.

Hello amigos! We travelled in a family group of 7, and enjoyed every part of our holidays. We have been in Cuba for over eight times, so we want to thank all the great people who made our stay the best one we've had so far. As soon as we checked in, we were put in two beautiful rooms right next to each other, as we requested prior to our arrival . Our rooms were the cleanest, and we had an excellent week with a suerb weather. The food was amazing every day, with a great quality and variety in the buffet and in the restaurants, and no shortages at all. The Cuban restaurant was really good, and we ate there almost every day for lunch, actually all the restaurants were very good and the VIP dinner for returning guests was a really nice gesture to acknowledge the returning customers. The grounds were very well-kept, and the gardeners and cleaners were always working non-stop . The beach is definitely my favorite place, and we loved to spend most of our time there. The staff are the best people I have ever met, making our stay there very enjoyable. We want to recognize the good service provided by Samuel from customer service, who looked after our requests since before our arrival, and greeted us in the resort with his warm personality. Thank you Samuel for making our stay so wonderful, and making sure we didn't have any issues. The staff at the resort is one of the big reasons there are so many returning guests, and we will definitely return next year. Thank you all!

Travelled to PCV for the first time since 2013.

This trip was my first time traveling anywhere alone so it was a different experience for me.

Check in was smooth and was able to get my room at 4pm (arrived at resort around 3:30pm). I had requested a room on 2nd floor close to the pool and lobby but the request was not submitted on time so I received a room on the ground floor. The shuttle driver who took me to my room was excellent (I believe his name was Ronaldo or Rodrigo) and said if I wanted to change rooms the next day to feel free to go and see front desk and they will do so. The next day the shuttle driver came to see me to see if I was ok with my room and if I still wanted to change. I opted to stay in the ground floor room as I had already unpacked most of my stuff and whiped down the room. This was my 1st time staying in a room on the ground floor in any of my travels but I had no issues with any bugs or critters in my room. I was in room 1515 and the maid was excellent. Only downfall now is they do not stock the mini fridge with Cristal beer, only water.

The hotel was always kept clean by all employees (gardeners, pool guys, waiter/waitress) everyone always did their part to make sure it was kept clean.

Pool and beach were always clean and had lots of sun loungers available (didn't have to be up 6am to get a lounger at the beach).

Food was ok but very repetitive and not much quantity with locals cleaning out most items. If you were not in the first 10 people for the grill station for meats you would not get any as locals in front would take 8-10 pieces of beef per person leaving none left for anyone else. For breakfast there was never any bacon in the week I was there, and heard there wasn't been any for a long while now (and I believe this has a lot to do with the food shortages the entire island has had in the past). Omelettes were always great. Lunch and dinner buffet was mostly the same each day, I stuck with the Cuban Fried rice and pasta. At the pasta station they had little pieces of bread with garlic butter, tomatoes and cheese on them which were very good.

The hotel has only one section open (the left side) due to COVID and its limited amount of guests. I would say that 90% of tourists at the resort the week I was there were Cuban. Some (not all) were very rude and disgusting (spitting in the pool, blowing their nose in the pool, standing on top of you in the buffet and coughing on your shoulder).

Hotel does a great job at enforcing protection against COVID. Lots of sanitizer stations around property, and ask that you wear a mask in common areas (bars, buffet, lobby).

I rented a scooter from the hotel lobby one day and spent the entire day touring around the area (down to Banes). Cost was $25 US for the rental plus gas you use. Great way to see the area at your own pace and very safe if you drive right.

Overall the resort is great and is working very hard during these tough times. I would return again.

Thank You PCV.

One of our main tasks are provide hospitality to all guests, keep the rooms impeccable, and clean the areas near the hotel and the beach. We appreciate your feedback and we apologize for the experience you had with the variety of food and the behavior of Cuban guests during your stay at the hotel, we will analyze these elements with the management to improve them. On the other hand, we are satisfied because the service from the staff was excellent, and they they did a great job for the measures against covid will be complied. Nine years ago my husband and I told our travel agent that we needed to get away. We wanted to go somewhere that was peaceful, safe on and off the resort, with a beautiful beach that we could explore. She immediately suggested we fly into Holguin and spend a week at Playa Costa Verde. We have been utterly grateful for that advice ever since.

This March we visited for our 9th time and while there are so many reasons that I love it, I think it is the heart of love and service of the people who work at PCV who make it so unforgettable. They don’t fake it. They truly want to make your holiday wonderful! They remember returning guests and they will go above and beyond to make you feel at home.

The food is good – and despite the impossible conditions with embargos and supply issues these people have a way of making even the most basic items simply tasty so that guests have the best of what is available!
I have celiac disease; I don’t eat seafood and I have never gone hungry! I do bring my own bread , PB and pasta so that I do not have to worry. The resort is smaller than the surrounding resorts and I love the fact that I can find my kids or my husband (if I want to), get to the beach, or the restaurants without walking forever. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are big, clean and have everything we need. We are beach people and I can promise you that this is THE BEACH to die for!

I want to add that when reading comments, be wary. There are people who complain about things that are far beyond the staff’s control. Yes, the bugs were more nasty than usual this year. The hotel does fog the area but just like anywhere else, Ontario included, some bugs have years that they are worse than others. That is not the fault of staff. Plan for being outside! Bring repellant, Benadryl and anti itch cream. The complainers should stay home instead of tearing down all the work and effort that staff put forth - there are no bugs in the snow.

If you have ever considered visiting Playa Costa Verde, do yourself a favour and GO! This is a perfect place for people who value people, cherish nature and fun and don’t get all tied up in a knot about what they cannot control. Cubans have taught me so much about making the best of what we have and being resilient in the face of adversity. Enjoy your trip and get ready for your heart to expand if you take the time to get to know the people serving you.

This was our second trip in as many years to playa costa verda. We opted to stay 2 weeks this time but as we learned last year we came prepared.

This is a very good resort which meets my needs of a great beach, good food and no line ups. With the exception of weekends at the buffet all 3 needs exceeded expectations.

The beach is large with nice sand but a bit of a walk from some rooms but helps loose weight! There is a reef in front of beach which is rocky but makes for good snorkeling. Beach could use more shade but we brought our own beach umbrella.

Food is very good in all restaurants and buffet. In particular I really enjoyed the Italian and the Cuba for both dinner and lunch.

Line ups at buffet could be irritating on weekends but we just avoided and booked ala carte. We also paid for lobster on the beach one day for lunch with Yuniore and had the lobster dinner in the gazebo on the beach one night. I believe it’s worth the extra cost.

I recommend bringing ketchup as they usually have none for hot dogs and burgers. They also ran out of cups, white wine and Champagne but you could buy some for a reasonable price. We bought all our red wine each night as the house was not to our taste but price was fair.

I mentioned we came prepared this year and brought, ketchup, mayo, umbrella, cushions for chairs at beach and reusable drink containers. If you are staying more than 1 week these items may make your stay more enjoyable.

For runners I found several outdoor new 5k and 10k runs which is posted on Instagram. The gym as usual is well maintained by Tony and offers cardio and weights. If you run outside, 7 am is the latest to avoid the heat and humidity.

Special thanks to standout staff including Yuniore at the beach bar, super Mario on chairs, Mabel at beach bar, yunace at Cuban restaurant, Ludmelia at the Italian and several bartenders who go above and beyond ( marcel, Alex, Dudy)

We recently returned from our 35 th time to PCV , our " Home Away From Home " !
It was wonderful to see some of our "old " friends there , ( Lynda , Dave, Richard , Michael , Angie and Brent ) . And as always , we look forward to seeing our resort worker friends too .
The weather was the best , hot and sunny every day !
We were happy to see that everyone is wearing the same colored wrist band. Now it can't be said that returning guests get preferential treatment.
The hard working gardeners continue to keep the grounds beautiful .
The food was good , we were always able to find lots to eat and never went hungry.
Everyone should bring a travel mug for their drinks !
We received good service everywhere and our maid did a wonderful job each day .
We will continue to visit this clean , safe, friendly resort and are looking forward to trip # 36 !!!

This is our 16th visit to this resort. The last few years there is a noticeable change from the staff to the food and resort in general. The staff is the best which is why we love this resort but even notice a difference with them. Lets start with the good....the weather was great, our room was great with no issues, the regular staff that we have come to know wonderful as always. There are a lot of new staff and found service lacking but likely due to inexperience. Yes we all know there are shortages in Cuba and expect that and come prepared with the things we know we cannot get such as ketchup, mustard, peanut butter etc but there are other issues that concerned me more than not having some of those items. The snack bar has a menu and most things not available on given days. Pizza but no sauce, calamari not available which is on the menu but you can have it if you pay 7cuc. This is wrong if they are going to charge, remove from the menu. No french fries but banana chips but not always, no hotdogs for a few days and it goes on. One nice add was the chicken wings they were serving, that was the first time we had seen wings which was a nice change. Of course the Bohio which is a paying restaurant was good and we enjoyed our meal there and they were promoting this paying restaurant daily. The Cuban restaurant was closed at lunch which was disappointing as we always enjoyed a lunch there. We ate at 2 a la carte restaurants, the Italian and the Cuban both not great. The shrimp cocktail in the Cuban was bad and the beef stew was so salty you could not eat it. The resort was constantly out of white wine and we were running from restaurant and bar trying to find. This is not acceptable particularly when that is all you drink. It got to the point of ridiculous and not great for an all inclusive where they don't properly stock the wine, champagne, vodka.
We have always gone with an open mind. Last year we said we would not return but we found ourselves booking again this year but for only one week (normally two). We were glad that we had chosen only one week and again saying we will not return next year. This resort has so much potential due to the layout of the resort the staff but the food which is a common complaint is a regular complaint among many. Not the shortages but the food quality, offering etc. We spoke to many new travellers to the resort that were not happy. If management does not take the comments seriously about the food, they will lose returning and new guests. The resort was 50% full which is not a good sign at this time of the year. Please go with an open mind and enjoy the cuban people and the weather.

I have stayed at Playa Costa Verde Cuba for 10 weeks throughout the past several months and regrettable went to stay at another resort on my most recent trip to Cuba (April 2022) The new resort was a little cheaper, so I thought I would try it. What a mistake that was, the most horrible experience I have had so far, so with some discussion with my vacation rep I was able to leave the current resorts and go back to the Playa Costa Verde. I can’t tell you how much more pleasant my trip to Cuba quickly became.
The Playa Costa Verde is amazing for many reasons, but a few of them are as follows. The resort including the gardens are beautiful and very well maintained, the pool is crystal clear the food is amazing, especially the buffet and I to have to mention the roast potatoes were better than the delicious ones made by my British mother in law, so for the British travelling here you will be delighted. My room which was located behind the area of the beach towel hut was unbelievable, best room I have stayed in. All the staff were wonderful, but a special shout out to Suzie from the entertainment team, she made every effort to make sure that I was taken care of at all times, she booked a catamaran trip for me, played music requests, include me in the games and always checked in with me as I was travelling solo. What a pleasure it was to have such wonderful people around me. Then there was Roberto who took the time to say hello to me and many others each day, nothing was any trouble and he made me feel like this resort was my home away from home. I would highly recommend this resort and I want to thank them all for always making my trip to this resort such a warm and pleasant experience. I will not be changing resorts anymore.
Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable vacation. Mark Mazachowsky

I've been visiting Cuba twenty times since 1997 because of beautiful beaches, friendly people, and good value for money. I returned on December 31 with my wife from a two-week vacation in Play Coste Verde.
My wife and I got bitten 100 times on the first day by a small almost invisible sand bug Cubans call Jejen. Seven days it was incredibly itchy, and three weeks later, I still have skin marks from them, and my wife did not suffer much. (I enclose pictures) However, there is an escape from their bites, like using repellents, avoiding shadows on the sand until the skin gets darker when they stop biting. After paying attention, I almost did not get bitten anymore. The hotel management was supposed to warn people and advise them to prevent bites. Still, when I complained, they pretended never heard about the bugs, probably to avoid negative propaganda.
90% of the hotel guests were Cubans who must have subsidized vacations by the government. They eat BBQ pork as they have never seen it. They collected pork from BBQ for many people and even took it out from the hotel, making other tourists wait for half an hour in the lineups. Finally, I gave up on it but also had to say I was not hungry there. On returning home, I discovered that Cuba has significant inflation, so I assume Cubans may compensate for the hotel costs by pork they take. The hotel also offerd more good quality salad than any Cuban hotel before, but I've not seen one banana there. Cubans ate them on beaches😊
I wanted to go scuba diving with my wife. I did it almost ten times in Cuba but never took the exam, so that I had to pass the introduction like any other time. After this, the teachers always took me with a boat to watch beautiful corals and fish in ten meters deep water. This time, the instructor took us offshore in shallow water, watching dead corals through blurred water by waves. And I was assured that the dive would include beautiful corals, but it was later denied. I was never cheated before in Cuba.
It's time to discover other countries for vacation.

Thank you for giving us your review, as we will share your opinion with our management team and we assure you that it will be evaluated by all the areas involved. We are very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced while staying at our hotel. The issue of mosquitoes and gnats (jejenes) in our hotel is due to its location near the beach area, we have a constant fumigation program but the use of spray is always recommended. Regarding your opinion about local people, they have their own culture and sometimes it may be wrongly interpreted. However, they are also our guests and we apologize for the inconveniences this caused. On the other hand, diving is not a service provided by our facility, however we are sorry that your experience wasn´t the best. We hope you give us the pleasure of returning to Playa Costa Verde so that we can have the opportunity to reestablish your confidence in our service. Kind regards, Hotel Playa Costa Verde

Arrived from Toronto jan 12 to 26 2022. Flew with air transat 65 on board. We are repeat guests here and coming to get away from the cold. Rooms are clean and nice. I had a birthday here they Made it special with bottle of champagne in room a cake and dinner at the Italian. Cuban restaurant was fine too. The resort very quiet with about 200 guests not many canadians mostly Cubans. Buffet food was limited in selection but fir dinner had mashed potatoes French fries carrots Brussel sprouts swish chard beef pork fish mostly chicken wings or do personal pasta u won't starve. Workers wear masks and many double. Signage to wear ordering drinks. However the beach bar and lobby bar should enforce and send people away without a proper fitting mask not hanging on chin. Night entertainment was good with piano player a flute player live bands and the usual shows. No vodka but lots of alcohol. Staff really go out of the way to make your stay memorable. You can exchange canadian dollars with staff to get a better rate of pescos than at on site bank. Free wifi in rooms and at beach and pool nice upgrade when u need more see reception. Pcv needs to upgrade their satellite TV as no english movie channels so in evening nothing to watch on TV. The new resort in guardkavaca has lots of TV watching options. Bugs not bad at beach or in evening but I would spray in evening. Resort painting and regularly maintaining grounds. Since limited people there lots of room to social distance don't worry. Pcr test done on site. Go to cuba and enjoy

At night the rooms around the pool are quiet, the pool is not used when it is dark. Also, the "entertainment staff" stop playing music from the stage area (near to the pool) at 10pm.
