I had been to an Iberostar before (Cayo Guillermo to be exact) and this was my third time to Cuba. The resort is beautiful, room was great, staff members were helpful and welcoming, views were fantastic, and the beach was good. Resort: We stayed in bungalow 25 which had an incredible view of the bay. If walking is difficult, there are plenty of golf carts around that you can request or hop on. This is a newer resort so some of the plants are still developing, but overall it's gorgeous. There are many paved walking paths to get around the resort. I was able to go on a few walks around the property on my own and it was really peaceful and relaxing. The pool was nice, but a bit poorly designed. If you want a drink, you have to either go through the pool, or all the way around it to get to the bar. Also the chemicals used to maintain it do give off an odour, so try to stay near the north end (up-wind) if possible. There is plenty of lighting throughout the grounds so you don’t need to worry when it gets dark. Tip: bring sandals with some grip: sometimes can be a bit slippery. Note: You need to rent the poolside beds for 10 CUC per day. Room: We required a ground floor room as my travel companion has mobility issues. Usually I request a room on a higher floor as I always feel safer. This trip proved to me that there isn't a need for such a request. I felt very safe in this ground floor room. The added bonus to the ground floor was that if I wanted to, I could just walk right out from the room to the beach. The room was large and had what you would expect. The bathroom was huge. The shower had a handheld and overhead pieces; it took a couple of tries but eventually you got the hang of switching between them. There was a handy drip-dry line in the shower so you could hang up wet items and they'd drip right down the shower drain. We had incredible water pressure and temperature the entire time. The cleaning staff were wonderful and always did some fun towel sculptures. One thing we found odd was that they provided us with shampoo and conditioner but no hand soap. Note: the screen door does not have a handle so it is awkward to open and close. ***TIP: PUT Down A Towel on the floor at the end of the shower as it was completely soaked by the time you finished and became extremely slippery.*** Also, bring some hand soap for the bathroom. Staff: The staff was wonderful from arrival to departure. Almost everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming; exactly what Cubans are known for. Upon arrival we noticed the batteries in the tv remote were dead. Within about 2 hours of our request for new ones, they had been replaced. One issue we encountered was at the lobby bar. One of the bartenders often ignored us in order to serve a pretty girl instead, despite us waiting there longer as he served guests who were there before us. Views: No matter where you are within the resort grounds, there is always a beautiful view. In typical Cuban style, the beaches were gorgeous, and the water crystal clear. The gardens were well cared for, the grounds were well maintained, the water features were pretty, the décor was spa-like, and every space was welcoming. Beach: This resort boasts 2 beaches. One is directly in front of bungalows 25, 26 and 27. Views from this beach are beautiful as they look on to another beach, and the trees/land. It also has two levels: the upper level is a bit quieter and more exposed to the breeze. The lower level is busier. The other beach is across the little bay and is accessible by swimming or taking the path. You can walk or catch a golf cart to get there. Views from this beach are more typical for a beach vacation: the ocean. This beach is shared with 3 other resorts but for the most part, guests stay in the designated sections. Due to its layout, the beach has a beautiful area surrounding/under the bridge that you can explore. It’s a great place to see crabs, birds, and natural mangrove-type foliage. Tip: There is no food provided at the second beach, so pack a lunch and/or snacks. Also, go early in the morning in order to get a spot. BRING BUG SPRAY/LOTION: lots of little sand fleas on the beaches! Food: This is Cuba so don’t expect incredible meals with tons of variety. Having been to Cuba twice before, I was surprised at the lack of fresh fruit. The fruit that was available was mostly from a can. This was fine, but it was a bit sad. However, the fresh papaya was incredible! My travel companion had no problem finding food for each meal. I am vegetarian so this limited me quite a bit. I ended up visiting the pasta station twice a day almost every day. Not much in terms of variety, but still adequate to get you a decent meal. One thing the Cubans do well at Iberostar resorts is the bread. Absolutely phenomenal! Unfortunately we waited too long to book an à la carte, but I did hear the Japanese was quite good. Entertainment: This resort has some really incredible entertainment. Every night offered something different. The choreography was quite impressive. They also brought in special guests to sing for specific theme nights. The theatre is well laid out so everyone can see the performance. Tip: Bring/wear a sweater as it can get a bit chilly in the theatre. Additional Tips/Notes: -staff shift change takes place at 3pm so expect longer wait times (front desk, currency exchange) -the resort store is a tiny little booth with not much to offer -internet (wi-fi) can be a bit tricky to connect if you’re anywhere outside of the lobby building -if travelling with Air Transat, take advantage of the excursion “Island Paradise” where you visit Cayo Saetia. This is probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to. It is worth every penny!

Absolutely loved this resort! This was my fourth time in Cuba and I would have to say it was my first time not craving food back home, the food here was amazing with lots of flavour. The pools and the pool area are very clean and tons of lounge chairs. There is a beach bar down by little beach near the resort along with an ice cream stand that also does lunch. We also found lounge chairs down at the little beach and the big beach any time of the day, there were tons!! There is also a place to get drinks down at the big beach area and washrooms. The rooms are modern and beautiful, and the water pressure in the shower is perfect! We always had hot water. All of the workers are so friendly and nice and help you with whatever you need. We would 100% go back to this resort... been home two days now and already missing it. ❤️🇨🇺☀️

We just retuned from our amazing stay at this resort and we had a great time. Our family and three other families stayed there for 7 days and enjoyed all the resort had to offer. The view from the ocean front rooms was great and the rooms are clean and wee kept. The beaches and pools are clean and the staff was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The drinks and bartenders were great. The food in the buffet was a little repetitive but overall pretty good and the Japanese restaurant was great. The only thing I would say is the hours of the bars and restaurants could be better and the communication from the resort regardless daily activities could be better but overall a great resort. If you like fishing the charter offered from the resort was great and the shore fishing was good. Mike

We were in the adult only section a small withdrawn area with a pool, restaurant and bar and convenient checkin The room was modern decor, large bathroom with walkin shower for 2, jacuzi bath and separate tiolet. two double beds, next time will will have to get a king bed. But very comfortable. The air conditioner was quiet and the temperature digitally controlled. Second of two floors, large deep balcony with two lawn recliner chairs. overlooking the pool and at a distance the beach. The food was arranged for us by the butler, we eat well, lobster and shrimp, good red wine merlot or shiraz from chile The music was professional and entertaining, but I wished for more early dinner hour musicians, The beach was far away if you have mobility problems, but you can catch a ride. We loved the walk. there were very few rocks so we didnt need our water shoes and there was not much to look at under water so we didn't use the snorkle but the water was a safe depth for both swimmers and children. and lots of sun and sand. We took the trip to Holguin and we are glad. There is no spa there so we went to the next resort, in walking distance and paid for a couples massage there. wonderful. Thank you to Junior and Lorita and staff for celebrating my birthday
