Absolute great hostal, conveniently located within walking distance of the centre in a typical Cuban neighbourhood which gives you a great view of the real Cuban life, Marelis is absolute fantastic with helping out, the rooms are big and beds are comfy, the terrace offers great views during sunset. Would highly recommend to stay here!!

We stayed as a group here and had a wonderful time. The rooms were very nice and the food was so delicious - the best food we had in Cuba - the lobster is a must! The host was super helpful and lovely. Highly recommend.

We stayed two nights with Mary. A highly recommended casa if you are in Cuba! The best casa I stayed in Cuba! Mary is a great host. Altho she can only speak in Spanish. I use my little spanish and most importantly the offline google translate, the entire stay has no problem in communication. The room is spacious and comfortable. Room is in the 2nd floor and there are one common kitchen and huge balcony. And then there are a rooftop with great view, nice wall painting where you can enjoy the sunset and also we had breakfast there. We had all Breakfast here during our stay. the food and juice provided is far better off than those in Havana. First, basic amenity are all goods and high quality. Air conditioner, two fans with remote control, TV, safe, hot water shower, etc. And then there are many amenity that Mary had provided which out of my expectation, including hot water bottle, electrical kettle in the common kitchen just outside the room, microwave and electrical stove. Even we asked for to use the laundry washing machine and Mary didn't charge on this. And we used their laundry rope on the rooftop as well! (There is a washing basin on rooftop if your cloth is not much need of a washing machine) The view on the top floor is amazing. You can watch the beautiful sunset over the town and as far as the sea. The ambience is so quiet and nice. Village people and kids play outside with laughter and then very quiet at night. I feel truly living in Cuba during our stay. At first I think the location is not good for traveller without vehicle, it is on the hill top side and about 15 min walk to the town centre. but I was wrong, altho I have my own vehicle, I just parked it next door during my stay (with someone watching it for 2cuc per night). You definitely better off with a taxi to move in with your luggage. But then walking with no luggage to the town and all the point of interest is a breeze. We enjoyed the walk along their local life. Wifi is available on the ground floor (room is on the 2nd floor which you will need to bring your luggage on stairs, but Mary did offer help to my wife which is very appreciated). You definitely need your wifi card to get online. The speed is very good. One point worth to mention is that normally in casa you stay with the host, here, Mary provided a separate entrance door, separate staircase lead to the simple kitchen and your room. Such that when you go in & out and walk around, you won't pass by the living area of the host. This is unusual i think in Cuba and this make us feel with more privacy and less disturbed to the host. While Mary still welcome you to go into their living area, mainly for the wifi and in case you need to use the full kitchen / laundry. Mary in person is very cheerful and welcoming. We enjoyed the stay with Mary very much and recommend anyone in Trinidad to stay there. Be prepared for the location, a little bit walk and prepare google translate in offline mode. You will then be able to enjoy the true village life with comfort in Trinidad! If we ever go back again, we will definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Marelis for three nights in August 2018 and we had a wonderful experience. Marelis is a great host and most importantly a talented cook (do not miss her "langosta", her homemade zumo de mango and her pina colada!). Marelis was also of great in pointing us to the best landmarks and spots of Trinidad and surroundings. The room was very spacious and clean, equipped with modern and silent air conditioning and a fridge. I highly recommend Hostal Marelis to anyone traveling to Trinidad.

We stayed two nights in early April on the suggestion by our taxi driver from Havana, not knowing where we’d end up we were fortunate to be introduced to Marelis and her husband Guillermo who were amazing hosts. Our minimal Spanish was enough for them to understand and they went out of their way to accommodate us. The Casa was separated from their home to allow sufficient privacy yet they were on hand to offer help whenever required. The room and bathroom was very clean, bed linen and towels neatly laid out and the fridge stocked with a range of beverages at reasonable prices. The Casa also came with a separate kitchen and terraces. We took 1 or the 2 rooms available. The optional breakfast was a feast of freshly made juice, fruit platter, cooked eggs, ham and cheese, with breads and preserves and coffee or tea, well worth the extra $5. We hired quality and well maintained bikes to cycle around the town directly from the hosts. Wifi was available although the signal was strongest near their living area. The location is toward the top of the centre of Trinidad’s cobbled streets, access to the restaurants and bars was a few minutes walk. Despite the proximity to the centre the area was quiet at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and wished we’d stayed longer.
