This is a beauitfully restored Casa Antigua with everything you need. Johan was welcoming and provided the best map with information that we have ever seen. The two ladies who served us the ample breakfast were lovely and to eat in such a peaceful, beauitful garden was a delight in itself. As was sitting outside our room after returning from the wonderful meals in the restaurants that Johan had recommended. A stay here complements your time in this wonderfully unchanged historic town. Thank you Johan for an unforgetable stay.
Trinidad was our 3rd stop on our tour of Cuba and we were blown away with Casa Brisas de Alameda. Johan has done an amazing job in creating a tranquil, rustic oasis, with beautiful rooms and a lovely patio area in which to relax. The welcome couldn’t have been warmer, the service excellent and Johan and his team cooked us a great lobster and fish meal on our last night there. This place is an absolute gem and we wouldn’t hesitate in making it our first choice should we be fortunate to return in the future.
We feared the worst when our hotel was overbooked and we were taken by bicyle taxi up a rutted cobbled street away from the rest of our travelling group to alternative accomodation. We need not have worried as we were warmly greeted by the owner Johan who took us through the large front doors to an oasis of calm. It was beautifully restored rustic accomodation in a leafy garden. As we were the only people staying that day we had a choice of room - a double with separate shower room and toilet , or the family room with a double bed and a single. The room was spotless and well maintained with modern air con and a fan. There was a small wardrobe with a small safe plus 2 very handy hanging racks .Was a bit off put by the lack of glass in the window but need not have worried as the wooden shutters closed tightly so no insects could penetrate the room. The shutters also gave a complete blackout at night aiding peaceful sleep - the only noise was the bird song in the morning. We were served a full breakfast on the patio each morning at the time we requested ( just left a note the previous night on the hall way table). We were also welcome to use the laundry facilities to the rear of the garden . Johan was on hand daily and also to oversee our arrangments back to the touring group. We definitely got a better deal with our accomodation as we were away from the noisy main street and only 3 blocks to the central square. The streets were dark at night but felt very safe with locals waving to us from their balconies . Take some sweets as the local children ask for "bon bons" and also a lot of locals were requesting soap.We stayed 3 nights by which time the 3 bedrooms were all in use and it was nice to just sit on wicker chairs and chat to the other couples staying. Please dont come here if you are intending to be rowdy as that would shatter the peace…
This Casa is curated with loving care. Our room was spacious, styish (rustic style), clean and comfortable with loo and bathroom separate from each other. Outside each of the three rooms is a small terrace overlooking the lovely garden with seating and a hammock. Breakfast was served in the garden. We had dinner in the Casa one evening and that was well presented with a special mention for Crystal's exquisite flan. Johan has prepared a really helpful map with key items indexed (eg live music, restaurants etc). We cannot recommend highly enough.
We stayed for 2 nights last week and loved it. The owner is friendly and welcoming and made it a pleasure to stay in his home. The house is a typical house of the area and you walk through to the garden which has 3 rooms with their own separate access. Breakfast is outside your room. In the garden. It was a large room, with a large shower area and separate wc. It was clean and well presented. It is within easy walking distance to the main square and the bars and restaurants. The good restaurants tend to be full by 7.00pm, so find somewhere early or book in advance if possible.
