Where to begin? We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Carlos Gil Lemes. The house is gorgeous, full of beautiful antiques, a lovely courtyard, muchos colibris. Even more wonderful are the people, Carlos and his parents Gil and Sofia. Carlos is a wealth of information and was more than happy to share his knowledge with us.Sofia ensured that we started...

I spent a lot of time choosing casa particular in Trinidad. The most casas are very kitschy or have a terrace, what is also a no-go for me, because those people, who are building them, destroy the original architecture of the city and endanger the status of Trinidad as a world heritage. In the end I found the Casa Gil...

Heartily recommend this lovely, historic casa in the heart of Trinidad, Cuba. The house has been in the family since 1926 and it was such a treat to stay within such a warm, welcoming home. The garden and cool house were a welcome refuge, breakfasts were huge and delicious and served in beautiful calm surroundings with fresh linen every day....

This is a beautiful colonial house. The owners are deeply involved in its preservation. Most of all, they do everything they can to make you feel comfortable. The place is spotless, very quiet and they serve a generous and fresh breakfast. We had our best stay of our trip there and we were glad to get to know them.

Truth be told, we have stayed at better casas throughout our trip in Cuba, but nowhere compared to the family feeling and the personal warmth they extended to us during our stay there. Carlos was exceptionally friendly and considerate and his pre-arrival emails prepared us for a smooth check-in and he informed us of everything that we needed to be...

We booked at Gil's after spotting his address on the Lonely Planet. We were not much confident because at the time there was only one available room, and all other accommodation were booked, but we got our place. Gil has been very nice, he came to pick us up at Viazul station and helped us to his house. Immediately upon...

When we entered this casa, we were simply amazed by the beauty of this lovely colonial house. It was just like a journey in time. The fully restored house has is old furniture evrywhere, classical music in the background, a beautiful patio and - most important - wonderful people living inside. Carlos, his wife and his son are really interesting...

An incredible house - you will not be able to believe when you are here and looking around that it is 2014, as the sense of history and tradition is so impressively preserved. We stayed for three nights. Every morning we got a lovely fresh breakfast & drinks. The location is very central: the parallel street to one on which...

This mazing colonial house is more a museum than a casa particular; not surprisingly, groups of tourists can be seen regularly just outside the door taking pictures of the place, and they are also welcome to visit the great hall of the interior and appreciate the great antique pieces of furniture and design that the family has preserved with such...

“When we stayed, the (very nice) bedroom was not an en-suite, and we had to use the bathroom off the kitchen down a corridor from the room. This was fine and we were told only a temporary arrangement whilst the usual bedroom/ensuite was being renovated.”
