We had a perfect time here! Bed is good, room is clean, nice swimming pool. In the weekend a lot of entertainment. The diner is really good for Cuba! Not so much choose by breakfast but it was good! WiFi buy by hour, you can choose by the reception. The housekeeping is really creative! Even a letter in Dutch! Had a amazing time!
Originally I was going to stay for two nights, but I extended for another four nights, and then another three! The hotel has a fantastic location overlooking the city and the south coast. The guest accommodation is in "chalets", each with two apartments, widely spaced apart, so it is VERY peaceful. There is a reception, bar and dining room in the central building, opening out on to spacious terraces with great views . The staff are very friendly and helpful. Due to the pandemic, there are medical staff here permanently who check everyones temperature every day. I needed a PCR test to return to Portugal and the medical staff made all the arrangements for me. On most days I only have breakfast at the hotel, which is very good. The one evening meal ( included in the room rate) was simple but adequate. I have had a great time in Trinidad and I hope to return, in which cas e I will stay at las Cuevas again.…
Looks can be deceiving. If you are interested in staying at this hotel, be prepared for a horrible stay. The exterior of the hotel looks nice, and even the rooms at first glance. However the beds are hard and flat with springs poking through the mattress. Bring your own pillow haha. The rooms are dirty and no water pressure for the shower. Pubic hairs where found in the bathroom sink and toilet area and the floor was dirty. The hotel is very old and is in desperate need of a major renovation. There is no free wifi and it costs $25 pesos with limited coverage. You can’t use Wifi in your room and have to go to the hotel lobby if you decide to purchase the Wifi. Breakfast is free with the room, however don’t expect anything special. I recommend the buns with butter and fried egg. This hotel is classified as a 3 star ⭐️ , but I would classify the hotel as a 1 1/2 star place to stay and that is me being polite. Bottom line, DO NOT STAY here. Book a hostel or B&B instead, unless of course you have no choice. Maybe sleep in your car if you have one.…
The resort is at the top of a hill and overlooks the city. The buildings each had two rooms and were surrounded by grassed areas. The room was clean and comfortable and en-suite was conveniently separated into two areas. Dinners were buffets. There was plenty of food but no hot vegetables. There was a good selection of sweets. At breakfast there was plenty of food available but only of average quality. You certainly don't cme to Cuba for the food!
The room I shared with a friend was on the upper floor of a fashionable hut, well furnished and nicely decorated. The bathroom was definitely comfortable, and I appreciated it after a long day trip, heading the west side of the island. The restaurant offered a very wide variety of food and the atmosphere was very "active" with a good service. An excellent mix of international and local specialties.
We were lucky to spend an unexpected night at this hotel after we left our first place hotel based on bad conditions. My only regret is that we left to early and didn’t get to truly enjoy the full resort. Dinner was wonderful Christmas buffet, staff attentive and helpful, our room was spacious, comfortable & clean, and resort had beautiful views!! Arrived to sun setting and awoke to gorgeous sunrise with roaming wild horses! Loved it!!
On the plus side - the setting is beautiful atop a hill. The "rooms" are designed 2 to a building. All of them have views. There is a restaurant, a bar, a "gift shop", and a great pool on site. The bed was comfortable and it was very clean. BUT - the restaurant and bar were closed one night out of 2. No explanation. There are horses that roam freely and they do "their business" everywhere and it was not removed. The free breakfast was barely average. And upon arrival my bedroom bathroom lights were not working. Oh, and the power went out a few times.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the views from your room are breathtaking. They have horses meandering throughout the property and might even come up to your window, however they really need to do some house cleaning. We were taken to our room by a Bellboy who walked down a very Rocky incline. When we got to our room he wanted to sell us a magic box trick. He was very persistent but we finally persuaded him to leave. After he left we pulled the sheets down to see if there were any bugs. we could see that there were bugs behind the mattresses. This hotel is on the older side and the fixtures are extremely old There isn't a luggage rack to put your suitcase on. We didn't want to hang our clothes in the closet. There was a little refrigerator unit in the room, and that's what we put our suitcase on because we didn't want to leave our suitcase on the floor with all the bugs running around. The breakfast buffet is okay. There is a bread station, an omelet station and meat and cheese station. Cuban coffee is available with breakfast. If you want an espresso, or cappuccino, you will have to go to the bar and pay extra for your coffee. All in all, I'm glad we didn't spend more than two nights here. There is Wi-Fi, but it is only available in the lobby, and it is a dollar per hour.…
We stayed in a casa in the city center and came to Las Cuevas for a relax day by the pool. The pool was quiet, clean and refreshing. 3 cuc per person for a whole day of swimming. Cocktails at 3 cuc and snacks/pastas around 3 cuc too. Warmly recommended for people who stay in a casa in town who want some pool time. Far better than the beaches and the beach hotels.
Location is nice. The hotel is situated on a hill which creates a view over the town. Diner is served buffet style. Honestly, this is nothing special, even a bit dissapointing. The same thing with breakfast. Rooms are decent, but I guess it needs a little redecoration.
