Very warm and friendly host who gave valuable tips and make soup and desserts for all guests! Hostel comes with free public hot tub, wifi and drop off services at terminal throughout the day! Despite being one of the very few hostels in that area, the comfort level of the hostel is tip top. After staying at around 6 hostels... More

My whole family really loved staying here. It was clean, comfortable and the staff are really lovely. An unexpected bowl of soup on a cold night added to the excellent experience. (Good wifi too). Beds comfortable and family room had enough space for us to not trip over each other. I've avoided backpackers hostels in the past with family, however... More

My two friends and I had an amazing time at saquoia Lodge. The room and other facilities such as the kitchen and bathrooms were super clean. Everyone at the hostel was happy to answer all our questions and give us tips for further travels. We were even given freshly made soup to start dinner and pudding and ice cream for... More

Sequoia Lodge was a lovely hostel to spend the night in. It had a very warm, friendly atmosphere and a great communal area! A massive bonus was the free hot chocolate pudding and ice-cream :) Very cute place to stay!

I stayed in a single room with shower and toilet. It was very clean. The owners are friendly and helpful. There is a grocery nearby where you can pick up drinks and snack food. The hostel has an extremely clean kitchen with free tea and coffee. Excellent, safe place to stay for the single traveller. Free Wifi available in the... More

This was the first place that we stayed on our Flying Kiwi trip to the south island. In terms of hostels, we thought this one was rather nice. They had a pudding they made up for the guests available in the evening. There was a hot tub, movie/tv room, outdoor patio space, and laundry facilities. The kitchen was also rather... More

A very nice backpackers lodge where you can feel at ease among other travellers, while cooking your own food in the equipped kitchen or using the wifi. The staff is very friendly and helpful (special thanks to Rachel) and there is a frequent free shuttle to the ferry terminals. Our room with private bathroom was simple but good value. Unfortunately,... More

This was one of our favorite stays in our whole trip. Cute, well-maintained hostel about a mile from the town center. We had a private double with our own bathroom and a little porch, nestled under a tree. The outdoor hot tub was great for soaking in after a long hike. Comfy common areas, both indoor and out. The kitchen... More

we needed an overnight stop before an early morning ferry to Wellington. Superb location, and our double room with en suite was old, but spotless and had everything we needed, including a good bed. Friendly staff, great kitchen, chocolate pudding, and hot drinks whenever.

Stayed here for three nights on my way down and was in a five-share-dorm (mixed) with Swedish, Japanese, German and British backpackers. I enjoyed the time, met lovely people and had all in all a very good stay. The offer a free hot bath outside, every night free choc pudding with ice cream, it's very clean and the owners just...
